Hi everyone.I am trying to build new small commvault lab with commserve on windows, plus one extra windows box with media agent and one same for linux media agent for VMware. Package which was provided to me is called FullMediaKit-Windows-40-CU60. During the installation I am selecting all-in-one  and proceed further. Installer goes to client installation and want to put commserve or GW hostname. On the same machine Commserve should be installed during the same installation but when I put there localhost it is not proceeding further. What I am thinking, whether my mediakit have all needed software to install commserve and client at the same time. We migrated all data to a media agent in the cloud. The Commserve is still local in our company. We would like to install the Commserve on our media agent in the cloud. (Data is only ussed for Archive, backup is moved to cloud)I tried to install the software on the media agent, but you cannot select the option to install the Commserve software. I must uninstall the media agent software and then install the Commserve and media agent software. We are running 11.32.XX (no production only archive)Is there a best practice to do this? Is there any documentation?Thanks in advance!

Hello,I would like to ask a  question about cleaning the local on-prem S3 storage (Netapp AFF C30).We have two buckets created (two mount path’s). Both have micro-pruning enabled from the beggining.On Mount path “General” informations I can see that:bucket1: Size on Disk: 90,68TB / Estimated Media Size: 68,06TBbucket2: Size on Disk: 86,86TB / Estimated Media Size: 65,77TB I had similar values in the past on Commvault (MCSS/MRR/AGP) cloud storage - and after running Space Reclamation - we were able to free up a lot of space.Should I run a space reclamation here on this S3 storage? Is micro pruning sufficient way for cleaning on-prem S3 storage in commvault? or maybe we should run this space reclamation from time to time?It would be great to hear what best practices are.Thanks in advance.Regards,Matt

Hi all. We are using the Multi person authorization restore request/RestoreRequestAuthorization workflow so that a user cannot do a restore before its approved. Every time a restore is initiated, an email is sent out to a large number of users/approvers in our environment. Because we do have a large number of users who can approve the restore, we want to disable the email, so that users are not getting spammed with emails.Is it possible to disable the sending of the email? Thanks-Anders

Hi All, i would like to create an big picture for running Backups and admin jobs.  Maybe someone has an good idear how can i export the information and maybe let an KI create the schedule plan.  My goal is to have an plan to see at wich time wich jobs are running on wich maglib and how long. Also how long is the dash copy running. Hello All,I need some clarification regarding Storage Policy retention configurations for DB2, and Oracle command-line backups initiated through DB2 and RMAN commands. Version - 11.40My understanding is that Commvault currently manages command-line log backups based only on days-based retention and not cycle-based retention. By Cycle, I am referring to the complete database backup chain consisting of Full + Incremental/Differential + Log backups as part of a cycle.My first question is whether the cycle retention condition is applicable to Incremental/Differential/Delta backups initiated through the command line. It appears that it may be, but the behavior is not entirely clear.In the case of Oracle, the situation is even less clear because archive log backups are also classified as Incremental backups. Hello,I’ve been spending quite some time attempting to obtain any form of Trial for Commvault software but no luck.I’ve recently joined new company which is using Commvault as main backup solution and am expected to learn it. Since my homelab has vcenter and hyper-v cluster me as a silly goose thought obtaining a trial licence to learn by doing would be trivial.I’ve attempted to register and request trial quite a few times now and have gotten no response for several days - so I’m wondering what am I doing wrong?Attempted all options AI Chatbot gave me, even got provided link by Support Agent who said something along lines - its been received and will be contacted very soon.

Hi All, i´m looking for an simple report wich shows me the used tapes ( Barcode ) per storage policy.  I tried the Tapes used Report:→ not good because i see a lot of duplicate barcodes for ech backup. I Only need the infoiramtion storage polcy ABC → 10 Tapes with barcodes nothing less and nothing moreJava gui storage information→ to much informations. also the summary did not show used tapes. here is the only option to generate x reports for x storage policy so do you have an idear for an simple report ( show used tapes per storage policy :) )

Hi All, we need to use vsa snapshots with vTPM aktive. Support told us that from SP42 and later its supported.Our pain actually is that we need to change from Elemnts to central. If you create an new pseude client the question comes up directly  But what is with old clients. Is there any migration path maybe via workflow ? We have a lot of pseudocleints wich are using the Prism Element with a lot of subclients.  Now we have to create a lot of new clients in the background with alot of new firewall rules etc. maybe you have an idear ?  What happend when wie change the IP adress in the pseudoclient object ?

Hi All, i would like to ask regarding Nutanix AHV quiesce Problems.  did we need extra firewall ports from the vm guest tools outside. So the vsa proxy need TCP Port 9440  to running backups. For quiesce the guest tools is there any more firewall port needed ? 

We’re currently planning to migrate our DR Commserve from On-prem to Azure Cloud as part of Hardware Refresh project.Current environment -Primary CommServe (Production) hosted in a On-prem data center A. DR CommServe configured and running in On-prem DC B. Backups are getting backed up locally and connected with Production Backup Server A. Currently everything is running on physical backup environment (Media Server, Storage, Primary and DR Backup Server) Live Sync backups are configured in every 1 hour between Primary and DR Backup Server.Planned Changes - Onprem DR Backup Server needs to decommission, and it needs to migrate in Azure cloud. Primary Backup server will run as is in Onprem DC A. Post successful migration, Primary Backup Server will be on physical environment and DR Backup server will run in Azure cloud. Hostname will be same of DR backup server in Azure cloud. Only IP will be change. No changes for Primary backup server.Questions / Clarifications Required -Best practices

Hi all.We have a PostgreSQL server running in a Kubernetes environment, and are looking into how to back this up. We do not backup the Kubernetes environment and have not configured a service account, created a access node as described in the Kubernetes configuration guide https://documentation.commvault.com/11.44/software/configuration_for_kubernetes.html)I found the Application-Aware Protection for Containerized PostgreSQL documentation (https://documentation.commvault.com/11.44/software/application_aware_protection_for_containerized_postgresql.html), can I use this to backup the PostgreSQL server running in Kubernetes without configuring backup for the Kubernetes environment first? Thanks-Anders

Does something like a 'dynamic' or 'static' license really exist? I know there are several license types based on capacity or cores, but I have never heard of this specific type. If it does exist, how can I find out which type I currently have? Thanks."

I have a Commvault 11.44 installation, and I am being told that the license can be either dynamic or static. My license is capacity-based. I checked the CommCell and the Command Center in reports,  and looked for the license.xml file in /opt/commvault/Base/, but it does not exist. Could anyone please tell me how I can check what type of license it is? This information is vital because I want to change the VLAN and IP address; if it is dynamic, I won’t need a new license, but if it is static, I will need to purchase one.Thanks for the help!"
