Hello Community I wonder if anyone in the Community can guide me here.  We are going to do away with our current DASH copies to our DR site and instead create a new copy on each Storage Policy to go to MRR instead.  However I was hoping someone could answer a couple of questions on this Is the first copy that goes to MRR a full copy even though its going to be DASH copies   going up to this storage area? Our network team have asked me what the initial backup size will be so they can calculate the time the first job will take if it has to a full.  I have looked at reporting, but what report do I run to see what the full backup (if it is this) size will be on one Storage Policy?  Its only the DASH copies which will be going up to MRR.Any help on the above would be greatly appreciated. Kind regardsTonyQ

Hi as the topic already explains,is it possible to create backup policies based on user attributes. for example department.at the moment we backup every user in our Azure tenant based on a Dynamic group,but we would like to create a different policy backup policy for a certain group of people.for example facility department keeps their backups for 4 years and the finance department for 10 years.I know there is a possibility to create groups in Azure for each department, but that's not very efficient.it would be nice if there could be a policy created within Metallic backup that applies a backup policy based on a user attribute, (in this case department)

Hi All, i have created an azure app , and followed the prcedures from metallic document for the saml integration , i have added one group in the azure app , and tested , it doesnt work, i have added a user in the azure app and created same user in the metallic as external user it worked , what is the procedure to add a external group of azure ad to metallic i have tried to add a local group of same name of azure ad group, but i dont find any option to add role and permission for that group as tenant user or adminall i can see a associated entities , where i get to add certail roles , can someone clarify the exact steps to follow

There is one particular file in a user's OneDrive that keeps failing to be backed up. Hi,I’m a relative newcomer to Metallic, and I’m working with one of our Oracle DBAs to form a recovery plan for his environment, a series of Oracle RAC instances.One of the tests we’re trying to run is a restore of a Table (as opposed to a Tablespace) - documentation is unclear on the subject, but Metallic allows us to step through and submit a job to restore In-place. Hi,Following the Metallic guide for SharePoint Custom Configuration where there are instructions for registration of the SharePoint App-Only principal. This approach is outdated and only used for specific cases, see this link for details: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint/dev/solution-guidance/security-apponlyNow to my question - as we only use SharePoint Online only and the guide is from 2021, are we still required to register the SharePoint App-Only principal or will we be fine with the Azure AD App registration only?

Hi all,In Metallic is there a trick to reinstalling an agent on a server where Metallic was inadvertently uninstalled? When I try install locally it installs a second _2 instance, and I cannot Retire that instance because nobody in the Company seems to have permission to do so.And the Approvals page is empty.

HI all, Metallic. When toggling “Disable backup location for future backups” in the mount path properties of an on-prem library, the settings seems to have no effect. If I return to or refresh the page the option is “un-toggled”.Anyone know how to prevent new backups from going to a particular mount path?Thanks,

Hi,Is there a way to create a full list of the mailboxes that have been backed up including deleted mailboxes?I can search for a deleted mailbox and can find it in the mailboxes but the default list shows only mailboxes with a status of Active.Thanks,Muhammad

whats the procedure to reinstall a mettallic backup gateway after a crash

Hi to everyoneI have some problems while search for Azure AD Groups into the Agg Group feature inside Content tab for One Drive Backup  How it works? I have problems if i have group with whitespace on the name. IE: I have a Group with Name “Staff  Q00125: Cloud Apps” If I write only “Staff” in the textbox the group in returned while writing “Staff Q” nothing is returned.How can search for groups with whitespace?There is any possibility to use wildcard characters? I.E. “* Q00*”? thanks for your help Best regards  

Hello everyone,I am trying to push the company I work for into retiring Tape Backups and get more into cloud storage.  I am working with our Reps for pricing, but I do have one question that I know will come up to a degree.  Currently we backup our VM’s over multiple tapes,  The jobs do a few VM’s depending on what they do so one job may backup 7-10 VMs and span them over a tape or two.  If we point these Aux to the Cloud instead of tape when I go to restore from the Metallic Recovery Reserve will Commvault need to download the entire “tape” of that backup or can it pick what it needs from that one file?  Also if it does have to download everything where does that get stored while its restoring.  The reason I ask is if I will need to redo my VM backups and just put them all on separate jobs.  It may be a simple question but I figured I would ask here about it.  Thank you for any info you can give.

Hi everyone,I’m looking to setup SAML for a customer using Azure AD as the identity provider.I’ve set it up in my lab (Metallic Subscription plus Azure AD), the default mapping of users works to a role that’s specified General Tab of the Identity Server.  Is there a way to have Azure AD detect the group membership and apply it to a Metallic User Group? I’ve Tested based on what I understand the documentation to be, but I’m probably missing something fairly fundamental.  Do I have to set a custom SAML attribute to map the groups through or is there another way?Thanks in advance.
