i have following scenario. There was a user XYZ whose regular backup was taken and now he left companywe delete his account from AD.So, as per infinite retention Policy , his data should remain in metallic forever? am i right? Now, if AD admin recreates his account with same name then will his existing backups be overwritten? Is there any way to get that data back?
My organization is considering enabling the Delete and Restore Authorization features in Security IQ. This will constitute a big change in our restore process because of how rapid our customers tend to want their restores completed, and requiring secondary authorization will slow down our process quite a bit, especially in the case that those authorized are either on PTO or otherwise unable to approve restores. I was wondering what methods the community uses to prevent slower service when it comes to restores that require secondary authorization? I’d like to hear how other organizations might prevent slow/loss of service when needing multiple users to be online in order to perform restore requests so maybe we can improve our process.
Hi All.We are looking to configure a secondary copy from on-premises into Metallic storage. We’ve had storage provisioned by Metallic and this storage has been added into CommServe successfully and is showing as Ready. Now, to avoid impact to our Internet connections, we are will be using a different WAN connection, and have a supportive network design established to carry the data across our secure WAN and eventually ingress into Metallic via an Express Route.I am aware of this article https://documentation.commvault.com/v11/essential/145407_configuring_azure_expressroute_and_private_link.html which has helped us understand what is required to permit connectivity from our Azure virtual network across to Metallic. The query I do have however is:After the cloud storage is added as a Library and assigned to Media Agents - I see there isn’t really any further configurables to ensure data is written actually honours the network path/routing we desire it to take. I would have expected a DNS n
Hi When adding a new Cloud Storage, metallic keeps asking me for a Media Agent. I have 2 cloud storage already configured in different AZURE regions (EastUS and WestUS), and i need to create a new one in UK.We are sending backups directly to Storage Accounts in azure, with out mediaagents o gateway servers.
Got this error InvalidBatch : Failed to process query: UNKNOWN_EXCEPTION: An unexpected error occurred. Please include this ErrorId if you contact support: 1788310944-129049 (848646109)Any ideas how to fix ? I don’t want to excludeRegards Robert
A user may have deleted emails, but I do not have specific time as to when. Is there a way to see the mailbox size for each day it was backed up?
My CommVault Metallic cloud storage hit 100% full. I’ve deleted several months worth of backups and have run the data aging process multiple times but it still reports as 100% full. What’s the trick to freeing up space on Metallic cloud storage?Ken

I am trying to follow the instruction from the Metallic Documentation, Register the Azure App for Teams in the Azure Portal (metallic.io) On Step 7, what value do I key in? Command_Center_name.domainname.com?
Is there any options to get asbuilt guide for metallic?I am in middle of KT from ex backup admin and i am not sure if he has all things documented .so , is there any way to generate as built guide like we do in CommCell console?or any report which would show , what is configured, how its configured
Is there a way to prevent these automatic updates to the Media Agents from running?Version 11.2801.22 breaks VMware backups and I have to keep manually reverting to 11.2801.11. Very frustrating!
What is the Backup job summary report? Why should I use this report? Where can I find the report? What can it do?What is the Backup job summary report? The Backup Job Summary Report displays information about backup jobs that ran during a specific period of time. Why should I use this report? This report is a very powerful tool for admins to review the status of their jobs. Users can capture trends or reasons for job failures. Frequently checking this report will help make sure your company’s SLA is being reached.Where can I find the report? From the main panel select Advanced View in the next pane select Reports then navigate to the Monitoring section and select Backup job Summary What can it do?The default pane will show you the job summary of all jobs run from a 24 hour period. It will show what was successful, failed. It shows the app type and the throughput of your backups. you can select parts of the pie chart to filter to a more granular level or can create a specific filter f
We recently began onboarding our Office 365 products to being backed up in Metallic. As I understand, Teams data is stored in SharePoint (Team Files), OneDrive (one-on-one group chat files), and Exchange (hidden folders associated with the chats/teams/channels). I would like to know, is Metallic uniquely storing this data separate from the other Office 365 products, or is it pointing to the data in the other products? So if we loose the data from a team, could it be reconstituted from the data that Metallic backs up from the other products, without having to specifically backup a that team? Obviously it would probably be much easier to simply restore the team itself rather than rebuilding the team from data, I am just curious if this is something that is possible.
HiOn endpoint backup plan there is option “RPO” under backup frequency is every 4 hrs. this every 4 hrs. is full backup, incremental or differential, and is there any way we can confirm the backup running every 4 hrs. is full, incr. or diff. Thanks
This is regarding Exchange Online backup. We are trying to restore mails form mailbox but it seems not able to mount the backup file. We do not have any error regarding backups (archive). We are not sure to understand “Check if playback succeded.” does it mean mouting the backup file and read it (scan)? we are supposed to have a job for restore but it seems, we are not even starting to mount the backup fileWe have job history regarding backups (it did backup) but backup size is 0.Something happen during the selection? Where it’s coming from? Someone can help?ThanksST
Hi everyone, We would like to know on detail if it’s possible to assign a custom Schedule (or Job Start Time) for O365 Backups on Exchange, SPO, OneDrive and MSTeams Backup Jobs using Metallic for O365.As per documentation says on Exchange Online App we understand that is not possible (even on the option of Job Start Time appears). The documentation says the following for Exchange Online“Backups run according to the schedule and settings that are specified in the server plan, which the Metallic software automatically assigns to the each Office 365 app based on the region.Backups run automatically every 8 hours. If a backup is already running, then the 8-hour-interval backup is skipped. The 8-hour intervals ensure complete protection for your data if the data size is smaller because of incremental backups.”https://docs.metallic.io/metallic/122670_exchange_online.htmlRegarding the SPOnline, MSTeams and OneDrive apss the documentation doesn’t point that the backup schedule is automatically
To leverage MCSS we need to select a MA on premise and then send it to Azure. If you wish to leverage dedupe which is turned on by default the DDB will need to reside on the MA on premise correct? Also the MCSS/Azure is Cool Storage, correct? Any guidance would be appreciated. Thank you.Joe
I have to perform VM machine restore from VMware Hypervisor to Azure resource manager. I was gone through below documentation and need some clarification on this.https://docs.metallic.io/metallic/137982_azure_considerations.htmlConsiderations for converting VMware to Azure VM. Below tasks must be done before starting a source VM backup. Install Hyper-V drivers (hv_vmbus hv_netvsc hv_storvsc) on the source VM - As it’s mentioned Hyper-V drivers, So, will this only needs to be installed if source is Hyper-V VM or is it applicable for VMware VM as well?Run the following command to modify the boot image: (sudo dracut -f -v -N) - what is the actual impact of modifying boot image and will this cause anything for source VM?Considering the source VM OS is Red-Hat Linux - Is above two tasks are enough to start with source VM Backup or is there any additional settings needs to be changed/taken care before start with source VM Backup.
Hi We have make by mistake retire one of endpoint client notebook, now we have option listed are deactive or delete, can we again configured for backup. without delete and reinstalled software Thanks
HiWe are going to purchase endpoint backup solution from metallic, we want to know how to configured backup policies and define backup storage, this is installation and configuration from scratch. Is there any document to configure Metallica tenant, endpoint backup policies etc. Thanks
Hello,What is the Metallic Infrastructure needed on AWS?I mean, the customer will have to deploy (and pay) for compute(ec2)+storage (S3) resources on AWS.Regarding the compute part, I am understanding that Backup Gateway (EC2) is required. What about the Media Agent. Is it also required?Any other compute node is required beyond the GW?Thanks!Cesar
I see in the docs that Metallic VM backup supports Hyper-V hosts and Hyper-V clusters. But I have not found in the docs how to set up a cluster. Ex.Do I load the Proxy on all nodes, and Metallic figures out which node to use for which VM? We are planning a demo, so there is no trial and error and previous knowledge of Metallic VM setup.(We are using the Office365 backups only at this point)
My Metallic Auxiliary Copy looks to be moving between 20 and 40 Mbps.My fiber internet is 200/200Mbps.Where do I start looking to troubleshoot/adjust the Auxiliary Copy speed?Note: I am in a demo, so if the VM or File demo has a cloud copy speed maximum that would be good to know.
Hi,in the situation where a customer has a retention policy in SharePoint online to keep everything for 10 yrs.and they have been using Commvault to backup SharePoint online. When they move from using Commvault to Metallic, does the Metallic backup also capturing all the items that would have been deleted from SharePoint online but its still held under the O365 retention policy?would this also be the same for Exchange online if the emails where deleted by a user but they still there due to the O365 retention policy?
We use metallic to backup our azure VMs using the metallic hot storage. Both are in east us. We have on-prem servers that are hosted on a hyper-v that we would also like to back up to the hot storage. How should we go about it? The on-prem location has a site-to-site with our azure environment. Should we create the gateway on an azure vm or an on prem vm? What about the proxy server? I would like to minimize costs as much as possible. Thanks in advance!
