Oracle Linux - 1-Touch Backup - Received failed message for job, phase [Scan]

Greetings,There are two physical machines running Oracle Linux 7.6 with 1-Touch Backup (CV 11.24.78) configured the same way. 1-Touch Backup is working fine on one machine, no errors, ‘all green’ 👍Now, let’s take a look at the other host:It’s a differential backup (the full backup completed successfully the day before); six hours later, after 10 attempts CV gives up 😥There aren’t many details in the CV journal with regard to what happens at 10:15:14 - this is where (and when) the problem occurs:However, I see a lot more in FileScan.log I downloaded from the Linux - the crucial entries are in CFileScan - Status - FAIL (cv-log).txtThose entries repeat further in the FileScan log until the job ultimately fails.This may be the key sequence 🤔:comparing with previous dir change [] to get deleted items Failed to process DirChange CPostProcessDirChange::Run(173)/Compare failedI will be grateful for any advice/hint on this one 🙂

automaticly setting media to full

Hi,I am looking for a way, for example via workflow, to set all started (partially written) media (tapes) to full at the end of a quarter so that the backups for the new quarter all go to new tapes. We can not use the vault tracker because there are not enough export slots (or how does it work if a medium is to be exported via vault tracker but all mailslots are full ??). Or can we also use the vault tracker to just mark the media of the past quarter for export only (and disabling further writes) without exporting the tapes to the mailslots themselves so that we can take out the tapes in the order we want?Best regardsFrank

On v11.26 can we backup to Hitachi HCP as primary backup target?

Oracle database restore from tape. Error Code: [72:151]

Hello, Team So, i was trying to restore from tape and i got this error below; Kindly advise on what can be done to fix this.The architecture is, backup to disk using media agent in first location, and replicating to tape from first location to second location with another media agent that the tape is attached.I am trying to restore to oracle instance in the first loation. I am able to successfully query the rest API and the xml data looks good but when I use ‘Accept: application/json’ the data is not formatted correctly. Is this a known issue? I tested this feature in both python and curl.

CommserveDB size was high

Hi Team,In my environment the CommserveDB size was at 77 GB now and when I checked the history of that it was 59 GB on March 18 and from March 19th it was 77 GB.There were no changes performed on the environment.Will there be any reason why there’s a 18GB size increment on the CommserveDB and will it impact to the environment.???Note: Out-off 77GB the CommservData size is 55GB and Log size is 20.5 GB

Hello, I have an error when trying to copy sessions from disk to tape, I get a message "does not need to be copied". I had previously copied this session to a tape and now I also need to copy it to a different tape.

Hello Everyone, Our CV Index database increases very fast. When I check the Index Db folder I see the cvldxlogs folder. Can I delete this log folder (old dates)? Additionally, how can I do maintenance the index database? I should decrease the index database and log folder.

Health reports - URLs ending with "&exportType=PDF" make a strange view

https://[commserve]/webconsole/health/health.jspWhen accessing the health reports, I noticed some of the links to some of the reports have “&exportType=PDF” at the end.When clicking on these particular links, the report view/design is different.I guess “exportType=PDF” means it should show the report in a way that looks good in a letter/A4 format PDF-file, but this is unwanted when viewing the reports within the browser.Especially the Index State report is actually unreadable in this “PDF” view.The reports that have “&exportType=PDF” at the end of the link:-Cleanup-Software version-Index State-Index Cache Location-Capacity License Usage-Anomaly JobsWe recently upgraded to 11.28.56, but I can’t say for sure if this was an issue before that. If I edit the URL in the browser address bar, and remove “&exportType=PDF” at the end, the view becomes normal, but I would like to remove this from all the health report links.Known issue? Anyone else seeing this?

vm pack license- capacity consumption

I have vm pack license and 1tb capacity license, am also taking file system level backup of some vms,but it is counted in capacity consumption, is it the expected behaviour,? In vm pack regardless of what kind of backup we are running this shouldnot count in capacity tb license right

VMware Cloud Director - Commvault picks wrong access nodes when using hot-add in a multi-cluster environment

I'm trying to wrap my head around the following. I'm setting up VM-level protection in a VMware environment and I'm using the VCD hypervisor because we want to deliver VM-level protection to our cloud customers. So I configured a vCenter hypervisor first and added the VCD hypervisor afterwards, which leverages the vCenter hypervisor. Right now there are 4 active clusters with a few others coming soon. I deployed access nodes on all clusters and they are all listed as access node. Our backup method should be hot-add, because we'll have to close down/limit connectivity between clusters because of security, so NBD will not be an option anymore. The "first" access node in the list acting as the communicator is able to communicate to all other access nodes via a network topology, no errors what so ever to be seen when it comes to the communication between the nodes.Now when setting the transport mode to hot-add all jobs so far failed with the error that the access node cannot mount the disk

Using a UNC path for CIFs access node log files

We have a possible unique issue where we need to use a UNC path for CIFs logs files which is shared from one of our media agents on prem. I have attached a 5TB iSCSI mount to a media agent and created a UNC share \\MA\Job_Results\CIFs_Job_Results\*access node host name” The UNC path is shared at the “Job_Results” folder as suggested in this article to share it two levels above the destination of the logs folder: https://documentation.commvault.com/2022e/expert/6592_using_unc_paths_for_job_results_directory.htmlI have created a local account on the MA with a unique username and password… Gone in to the advanced properties of the access node and mapped the following UNC path:\\*media agent hostname*\Job_Results\CIFs_Job_Results\*access node hostname*Then provided the local account previously created on the media agent, clicked ok, then ok again. The CAN (CIFs access node) properties dialog window hangs whilst it copies the local folder job results to the new UNC path local. Window closes

Selecting sub sections of a page for PDF download

I want to download a particular section of the documentation, and while I can select the ‘PDF more pages’ option at the top level I then have to select each individual page to be included in the export. This gets very tedious for a large section.I’m looking for a way where when you select the ‘top’ page, all subpages are selected by default. Can this be done?

Commvault working in Isolated Recovery Envoirnment with shared mount path read only to MCSS

Hello Community !I opened this case to get some knowledge about Commserve Disaster Recovery process in the scenario when two the same commvault instances will work in the same time with the same MCSS cloud library connected to them.We have prepared the IRE (Isolated Recovery Envoirnment) - it is a network isolated vDOM solution (Fortinet) where we will perform a restore operations for few of our production systems (in the scenario when we lose entire old infrastructure). The IRE envoirnment and production envoirnment cannot see each other (we will use the same IP Addresses/hostnames for restored production systems in IRE).The first step is to restore the Commvault system from DR backup inside the IRE (with the same IP and Hostname, but with different hardware CPU/RAM). Next we will stop the scheduler and put old Media Agent in maintenance mode. Then we will share the Metallic Cloud Storage Services library mount path to the freshly restored Commserve in IRE (we will install Commvault+M

can some one please help me to understand the below point If an application database (oracle ,sql) is already configured to be backed up by an application agent, it will not be backed up using the application-aware VM group. if i have application aware backup cant we backup it application level?if i was taking vm backup before like incremental in all dayand database level in hours and if am planning to change it to application aware backup how can i achieve that
