This will make everyone’s life so much easier

Hi, i have a subclient of a oracle instance that on preBackup it’s perfoms an export and on post delete export on Filesystem…sometimes the prebackup doesn’t work at first time and retry more time, i not find where i set retryI wolud like only one retry, can you help me?thanks 

Hey guys!!I'm having the following problem, I have 24 Linux VMs in a given VM Group, due to a wrong configuration in the filters, in the preview a total of 387 Windows Vms were listed that were not backed up in the Linux VM Group. When verifying in the Vm Group Windows, the backup of these machines was performed.In view of this, I ask, is there a way to clear this count by removing the machines that are not part of the VM Group, leaving only the VMs in the right group?Hugs!

I performed the same request by powershell which I can get from part of View: Unfortunately Put shot by powershell send me 500 error without more details. Does someone have that type of issue and can help me with that case ?Regards, Michal

What are the implications of running LiveSync across 2 sites each with a CommServe and automatic failover set to occur? In the case of a Primary CommServe failure I see no issue and expect the monitoring nodes (both sites) to trigger transfer of the primary function to the CommServe at the other site.However… What if site A becomes isolated from site B with a network failure between both sites? I expect the Primary Commserve continue to run its site but will the CommServe in site B become active at site B as well with the monitoring nodes there losing connection with the CommsServe at site A? Will this result in a “Split Brain” condition across both sites??? If so, what happens on network reconnection???

Hello,I have a storage policy which has different types of sub-clients associated with it as shown below. Majority of vCenter SubClients have single datastore as its content and some have VMs as its content. All the datastore are on NetApp storage volumes and we have IntelliSnap integration.Storage Policy has following copies:Backup Copy is disabled so no jobs are going to Primary (Classic) copy and neither any jobs are queued for backup.Some of the associated subclients are perfect for aux copy to B4 in terms of availablility of snapshots, jobs, snapmirror relationships but few of the subclients have issues like primary snapshots beyond retention, some snapshots deleted from storage or issue with snapmirror. Now the AUX Copy is not completing, it completes with errors. No issues reported in AuxCopyMgr.log.Should the subclients which are perfect for Aux copy complete or it needs all the subclients in the storage policy to be ready for Aux Copy to complete? I have several Linux RHEL (5&6) boxes that we are migrating from another backup tool to Commvault. We have some strange issue where the OS type does not show up properly in the commcell and I can only back them up with another Linux media agent.If we use a Windows media agent, we get a lot of errors about decrypting and SDT errors in the logs.

I’m wanting to manually “clone” subclients from 1 backupset to another (on a different client). I’m wondering if this will affect the data on storage.  I’m planning on making all the new subclient settings as identical as I can to the old ones (using same storage policies, backing up the same data, subclient name is the same, etc).Basically: I don’t want to blow up all my remaining DDB or storage space by having commvault think “this is new data” at the DDB or storage level, as its “the same data” just now being backed up from a different client.  Or, I guess, blowing something else up like index cache space. 

Hello, we tried today to upgrade our Commvault environment from version 11.24.43 to 11.28.6. When a customer selects “Download” when restoring guest files from a VMware backup, the data is restored to a folder on our CS.The download will then proceed within the customer’s browser.How long are the data available in “\Commvault\ContentStore\iDataAgent\JobResults\DM2CacheDir” ?

Legal wants me to move only part of our old Exchange Compliance Archiver client generated compliance archive over to the new Exchange Mailbox (ContentStore Mailbox) solution.Is it possible to repick the jobs I need, and send them through the new Exchange Mailbox client to add them to the content index?If not, is the best solution to just export the content the want to bring over and add it to the SMTP journaling ContentStore mailbox?Thanks,Collin 

Hi,We have a Client “SQLVM1” running SQL Agent 11.20 on Commserve1.We are setting up Commserve2 running v11.30. We will uninstall the SQL Agent 11.20 on SQLVM1 and then install the new SQL Agent version on “SQLVM1” from Commserve2.Question:How to restore SQL data backed-up on Commserve1 when SQLVM1 will be migrated to Commserve2?Commserve1 is also Media Agent and contains the disk library. Of course, Commserve1 is available until expiration of the retention.Thanks

I have some CIFS Shares on a NAS that I want to backup and I currently do this by using a subclient on a Windows File iDA that simply connects to the UNC path.I’m replacing the box that the existing subclient sits on so I need to re-create it and I have two options.Same as before but use a new File iDA. Add a NAS/Network Share client and use the new Windows File iDA as a data access node.The end result is my UNC path is backed up so I’m not entirely clear what the difference is between the two methods and why I might choose one over the other?

After 12th of June 2021, you may encounter a situation on your Commserve whereby the SQL TempDB (tempdb.mdf) and Log (templog.ldf) are increasing in size unexpectedly.This may continue until the volume on the Commserve holding these files becomes full, which can lead to performance issues on the Commserve and observed in the Commcell console.Commvault released a reporting enhancement on the 11th June 2021 that has inadvertently caused tempdb/templog file growth.This enhancement has since been fixed however your environment may still be showing high space cosumption from the tempdb and templog files.If you are witnessing this behaviour and have low disk space on the drive hosting these SQL database files, please carry out the following on the Commserve server:1. Background: I have a few Windows clients that are performing a lot of backups via subclients. Most of these are UNC paths, and some that are pointing to large file shares (some are 10-50 TB each).  We need to “migrate” from the clients being on 2012 Windows OS to 2019 Windows OS, and “just upgrading the OS” isn’t an option we have to stand up new 2019 servers and retire the old 2012 ones.  The storage policies for these subclients are tied to DDB’s for primary copies, and secondary/aux copies.For each subclient on the old clients we want to retire: I want to just “deschedule” the old subclient, then make a brand new “identical” one with the same name and “path its backing up” on the new client (with all the same storage policies, filters, etc.).  Maybe take advantage of any “new” default settings on the subclient.  I will run a synthetic full at some point on this to make the last backup a ‘full’ to clean up storage.I have read up a little on NDMP and other types of backups for these (

Hello, we have a 3 part storage policy that snaps, copys to vault then once a month a backup copy runs. The backup copy has stopped working now for the past 3 months. The jobs are stuck on “To be Copied”. When I manually run a backup copy, it tells me no data needs to be copied. The jobs in the primary and vault work fine. The tape drive has available tapes. I dont see any obvious error or connection issue. Do you know which log in the Send Logs zip I can look at to help troubleshoot this issue? 

There are AD plans available in commvaut- but that only backs up the objects. The only way to get the full backup is a system state- which is not included in an AD backup. There is also a test workflow within the command center that will test the forest recovery. My questions is - has anyone had to actually do a domain restore? Im not talking Bob’s account that was deleted, but an actual domain controller restore and domain restoration. I would love to hear about it.

HiI’m pretty sure that last year when I briefly investigated this I was able to “partial” restore from export backups for RDS Aurora Postgres - I restored a TABLE ONLY.Now it seems I can only restore the entire database - has this functionality been removed? This is pretty critical to our use-case for using CommVault.Any help?Mike
