Good morning,I want to perform a Commvault upgrade in our infrastructure. We are currently on version 11.20 and I want to install the version 11.28Currently, the commserve and the SQL Server and the Media Agents are in version 12.Can we perform the upgrade directly on the current servers?Should we upgrade the SQL Server version from version 12 to version 16 on the Commserver which is in Windows 12 version?What is the best way to schedule our update?Thanks in advance.Best regards

We are having Open VM System which are running critical application and we don’t see any detailed information about the backup protection method for Open VM System. We are having 2 different types of hardware for this VM system.ALPHA Server ES80 ModelBL860The OS versions are Open VMS8.3 and 8.4 respectively. Currently we are taking the backups using agent based  backup for these machine through the networker and customer is query on how the Commvault will protect these systems.

Hey everyone, so as the titles states we are running Commvault 11.20.82 on win 2012 R2. Right now we are just considering doing the OS upgrades as 11.20 is still LTS until 2025; but if there is simple way to do them both without breaking anything that would be great. From what I understand this is an agentless setup, with Commvault talking to the hypervisor/vcenter, and the server being a VM itself backing up to netapp storage. Let me know what you guys think would be the best way forward or point me in the right direction.

Hi,on my new DC (behind an internal Sophos firewall) i have installed the AD plugin for commvault.When i try to browse i can’t see the content of my AD.On other DCs (no FW between it) it works fine.The network admin says that nothing is blocked.He catches the traffic from DC to Mediagent and Commcell.What can causes this?RegardsDennis

I have a problem with block replication. 2 physical servers with windows, on the third one I have RP store. On each I have a CV agent.  The data is replicating but without recovery points. Synchronization status   - Replicating, with problems, Failed to open RP Store, will continue replicating in latest recovery mode until RP Store comes back online.BLrSvc error is 150:127  Can't find any solution for this problem. 

Hello Everyone,Currently our Synthetic Fulls that do our weekend backups are taking way to long and putting our system at risk.  They run well into Wednesday and they kick off on a Friday Night.  I have seen other posts about simultaneous Synthetics slowing down the system and we do have them running against one business server, however the way they were setup before my time each job is doing different sections of that drive.  I am trying to determine how to alleviate this issue.  Would SSD drives for our Media Agent help, we currently still have old mechanical drives installed.  Do we need to throw more processing power at the Server itself?  We are trying to roll into Metallic to replace tapes and at the speed the backups happen even if we can get our system to send to Metallic instead of tapes it will be so many days behind if we do have an issue we are pretty much dead in the water.  We are not a huge company, and I feel like a Synthetic is only supposed to write the new updated st

Hi everyone, Commvault is starting to offer solutions for customers to restore their operations under the metallic flag. One of them is the restore of your CommServe using a DR backup, if you enabled the cloud upload. This got me wondering as accessing data from our Commcells or other data behind sso.commvault.com does not require tfa/mfa or offers the possibility of enabling tfa/mfa. Especially in the use case when we talk about our DR sets containing encryption keys to our encrypted public cloud storage (S3, Azure, metallic storage, gcp storage, etc) I think we could be running quite a risk here. What is your take on asking for TFA/MFA on sso.commvault.com? Personally I think Commvault should enable it sooner rather than later, but curious to hear other perspectives.

i have a DDB full recon job running its been somedays since our ddb is corrupted ,  i need to restart below services  commvault media and library managerand commvault media mount manager  can anyone confirm will it affect any current job , especially the ddb recon job

Hi Team,I have this Scan phase issue where the scan took longer for one particular subclient (NFS volume) after Synthetic full job. Is there any setting / need add any additional setting to make this scan phase finish faster?  From the logs and behavior, I can see the mounting not happen and the scan result from the logs is 0. after many hours, it will act to mount the snap and scan the folders. what may cause this issue?I only can suspect the subclient as the other subclient working as normal. The CIFS subclient for this same SVM have no issue.   

Hi all,We have a number of subclients which target our virtual server environment. These subclients select virtual machines to backup via tags.We have a couple of subclients which are currently not being used, but the option is available for them to be used. As a result, jobs against these subclients fail with a “[91:478] No virtual machines were discovered for this Subclient. Check the subclient content and configured filters.” error. This muddies our reporting even though it is intended and understood.Is anyone aware of a way to prevent these jobs from explicitly failing? Ideally, they would complete with simply zero VMs backed up. We’d like to leave backup activity enabled for these subclients and schedules targeting them in case VMs have the tags added to ensure that assigning the tag is the only action required to initiate backups.Many thanks for your time any any suggestions. 

Hello! I am running VMware VM backups via SAN transport mode. Several of the VMs have virtual RDMs. I would like to exclude them from the VSA backup and run them via FS iDA inside the VM.  How to achieve that? Regards,Pedro

Fun times ahead- I am over having multiple commcells per enviroment. It served its purpose but now with consolidations complete- I am ready to bring everything into a single commcell. So - I have read and used migrating media agent to new hardware documentation many times. Same with commcells-- but now… I am wanting to move the media agent- with all the jobs and clients-- to a new commcell. Would a seperation be the best approach? Is this possible? I am sure the instance has something to do with it -but looking for good examples. Anyone else done this? Thoughts on what you would do different? Lets talk!

Hi,I have a question about Additional Setting: „bSkipFreeExtentCheckOnDDBPath”. What is the parameter on the MediaAgent used for? Can safely removed? or should it stay? I can't find a description for this parameter in the documentation.  Regards,Michal

Is there a way to launch a task from the media agent to the remote host that I want to take as a vmware backup.I have a Windows media agent like "access node" for Vmware backupsI did a task with putty which does a stop/start of a service on a remote linux host with authentication by ssh key. it works fine from a session on the windows media agent host.I put the path of this task in the pre snap and post snap of the Vmware sub client with the same user/password that I used for the test.When backing up the subclient, nothing happens and I don't see any presnap/postsnap call or task name specified in the backup job logs.1-) is this supposed to work?2-) if so how can I follow the operation?

Hi All, we are using the report Office365 Backup Health for tracking our O365 Backups.  Actually we get daily 4 Mails for ech type ( Exchange, Onedrive, Sharepoint, Teams ) this is stupid :) The report is good an short. I´m looking for an option to bring alle types into 1 pdf.  I trried to edit the report to click and drop everything into the main page but doesnt work.  Do you have an idear ?
