We have a physical system that we will eventually move to virtual platform. But - i dont want to try to do anything to this system until  ihave a disk image backup. How would one take a disk image backup and point it to our media agent. Im familiar with the bare metal recovery process but curious how to take the backup. Is it just the system state?Physcal system backups are not my strongpoint.

Hello everyone.  I am trying to configure a job to be killed on a specific time.. I have some VM Backup jobs that can not run after 6:00AM. I already configured to be killed automatically after X hours of duration, but the issue is.. They don't start everyday on same time.. They don't have a specific time to be started. But i need to configure to be killed on a specific time.

Hello Commvault Community,Looking at this thread, I understand that IndexServer copies for V2 indexing are not recommended to be copied to tape media.However, what if we have situations where there are certain jobs on the tape that are the only last ones left and block the possibility of recycling this tape media? I checked for this StoragePolicy and these tasks are on both DiskLibrary and TapeLibrary (we care about disposal of these tapes, where the last blocking task is the BigDataApps task). Can we safely delete them, being sure that it will not affect the ability to restore the data? I've also seen entries to do Media Refresh for tapes that also have this problem, but then what? What is the most sensible way out of this situation, right after disabling IndexServer backups to tapes (if I understand correctly, it is re

Hi team, I’m conducting a PoC for MongoDB sharded cluster.Customer runs two shards and each shard has 3nodes. (1 primary and 2 secondary)We’ve installed plug-in on all 6 nodes and all configuration went well. For 1st shard, we performed the initial full backup without any option.For second shard,we performed the initial full backup with some option for better performance....… Backup performance is not bad in the beginning. (100-150MB/sec)Backup size of shard is 5TB and should be able to complete the job within 20hrs.So performance need to be higher than 80-100MB/sec at least. Backup server and Mongodb nodes spec is enough and resources are always available.But backup peformance is gradually degraded as time goes by and comes to 5-6MB/sec.We’ve never completed the initial backup due to this unexpected performance degradation.Mongodb data is on SS

we have below licenses since when we take our file system level backup on this protected vm its using the capacity license   do we need to purchase voi additionally or its the same license   

we noticed difference in time from the  backup job summary reports which are generated from webconsole.Commserve timings are in EST . Backup job summary reports from commcell console is in EST but same report from webconsole showing different timings. Please guide me on how to correct timings in  webconsole backup job summary reports.

I just got done with the Foundations and Professional training for Commvault (5 days) and we talked a lot about disk and library maintenance.My largest disk library is hosted on a Synology Disk Library, connected via iSCSI to a Windows Media Agent. 5 of the disks on there are 100% fragmented, as reported both by Commvault Analysis, and the Windows Defragmentation Tool.My question is there a way I can take one mount path offline at a time to perform the defrag? Is that recommended? Under mount path properties, I see the Enable Mount Path option under status, but the bit about stopping the DDB from referencing blocks on the mount path scared me.I also saw the Device Enabled setting, and thought that may be the way…Otherwise, under the Mount Path Allocation Policy, I saw I could prevent writing to the mount path for new data, which is also an option…I had disabled the entire library and ran a defrag on ONE of the 100% fragmented disks, and it was stil

i need to reduce capacity license consumed by the windows file system level agent ,it was taking full content and i modified the default subcleint content to reduce the size full synthetic backup is scheduled on weekly ,  so the change in the capacity full only show after the next full backup ?unless we run a manual full backup and delete and age previous full copy 

I am facing issue in login to java console for only one domain user. it was working previously and suddenly stopped. For other users its working perfectly from the same system and profile.

Hi Everyone,looking to make a server plan change to an existing o365/exchange backup apps. Environment:On-premise, storeonce catalyst integrated. All o365 workloads, Teams, EXO, SPO, OD are going to one storeonce catalyst store for dedup.Apps Configuration:EXO, Team and OD shared the same office 365 and Server plans.  objective/ planning to Change: to have separate schedule/flexibility each apps  if a new server plan is created and pointing the same storage/store catalyst, and update existing  EXO apps, what would be the expected behavior for the next job? would the next job creates new full? thank you in advance for your feedbacks.

Hi,We have two NetApp filers where we perform Snapmirror Volumes in a synchronous way. So, the data of the volumes for each SVM (Storage Virtual Machine) are replicated in a synchronous way to another SVM located in another NetApp Filer.We want to configure NDMP backups using streaming mode. Questions:What are the best practices to configure such type of configuration? Do we need to configure a client at the SVM level or NetApp cluster level? In case of SVM failover, can Commvault make a link between the two different SVMs which are different but contain the same volumes (snapmirror)?Thanks

Hi all, we have a customer that wants to archiv the Fileserver from his software development deparment.They have a lot of files and also a lot .EXE and .DLL Files laying around, related to different projects. According to the documentation, *.EXE and *.DLL are filtered by default.https://documentation.commvault.com/2022e/expert/25799_windows_file_system_archiving.html Is there a Key or Setting to change this Filter to include .EXE and .DLL to the archive data?

Hello Community#1  vms are linked to the same storage pool and DDB is enabled, when moving the VM between subclients will initiate a re-baseline ? #2 Could you confirm whether Commvault generates the DDB signature based on the server name or UUID or else?"#3 If we enable Commvault encryption on the subclient level, will this trigger DDB re-baseline when the scheduled job starts for the existing subclients ? if so, does job will convert to full automatically or has to run full manually ? thank you

HelloWe are planning on performing an upgrade from 11.24.98 to 11.28.x only to clear vulnerabilities with dotnet 3.1.32 which is EOL.   So we have been told we must upgrade to 11.28.x which installs Python 3.9.13 Our problem in the past with an upgrade is that we had a conflict with the upgrade when it came to the install part of python modules (only around the 7% complete install stage) because we had a higher version then what the upgrade was trying to install.  We have upgraded python in the past to clear security vulnerabilities.  We are currently at python 3.9.5. Any advise on what to do to avoid a similar situation with a 11.28.x upgrade??Should we totally remove python and its folders it leaves behind after an uninstall.  How do I know we are python free.  Just uninstalling from control panel I dont believe does the trick.  We have a sensitive network were we cant install a “program cleaner” software app etc..  Once we are python free should I rein

Hi,currently I am testing to establish a backup configuration for M365 backup.In my setup the CommServe itself has no internet access. The access node for M365 is able to access the internet. When I try to setup the configuration with the “Office 365 configuration helper” everything is working so far. But if I try to get the content from M365 or if I try to validate the setup, I am not able to finish it.In firewall logs, I see that the CommServe is trying to open Port 443 to several IP addreses in the internet.When I open internet access for the initial setup of Exchange Online, I am able to finish the setup and after closing the ports I am still able to backup. So it seems only the validation is not working.Since opening that ports in my productive environment is not an option, I’d like to ask you, if there is any workaround possible, to create a working environment without opening the ports.Do you have any idea?

Hi All, is it possible to create an alert for exchange online mailbox backup. When the Cache update is older than x days   Showing mailboxes from cache last updated on: Apr 17, 8:49 AM We had some enviroments hwere the cache update and auto discover does not work. Thsi cause potential data loss.  the stupid thing here is that the mailbox backup shown as completeded even if there are a lot of skipped mailboxes with that kind of error: Mailbox [Extra] not found in local mailbox cache. Please make sure local mailbox cache is available and refreshed without error.  So we want to get an alert when the cache is to old. 

Hello! Apparently, the DDB backup should get automatically configured. We have 3 HSX RA nodes.For some reason the FS iDA on the nodes are grayed out: They all hav the DDBbackup subclient: And there's also a automatically created schedule for the subclientes: but no jobs are running for that schedule. Is it because the FS iDA is not completely configured? Should I hit "reconfigure" for it? Shouldn't all this be automatically set up or did I miss any configuration step? Regards,
