Currently we are protecting a customer’s Sharepoint farm using SQL agent on the SQL server; and File system agent on rest of the servers; we cant get hypervisor access hence used the file system agent.  We tested the recovery and restored all the servers and used SQL database restore to restore the databases.  However, the search functionality does not work on the recovered environment.    We are thinking of using the Sharepoint Farm backup; the documentation says to install Sharepoint agent; so as I understand >  Install Sharepoint Agent on all the servers in the farm > Because SQL agent is already installed on SQL server do I need to install Sharepoint agent as well on it ; also do I need to stop SQL backups and Sharepoint backups would protect the same set of data again> Create a sudo-client and select all these as member servers > Expand sudo-client and create user-defined sub-client and on the content tab include web-front-end data > Perform backup > Use Sharepoi

Hi,I try to add a new Media Agent to my Commvault environment.The strange thing is: I can install the MA feature successfully to one of my Windows Servers. When I check this client with rightclick “view” > “installed software”, the Media Agent feature is there, too. When I check Media Agent readiness, it says “ready”.BUT: when I go to “Storage ressources” > “MediaAgents”, the newly installed machine is not listed there.I also can’t select it as a Media Agent in a Mount Path.Do you have any idea how to make the Media Agent “visible”?

Hi All, i had the following challange: Index and DDB are using same SSD ( Yes i know… )Index is using 1,96TB. Settings are: Retain index for : 50Generate alerts when free space falls below : 50GBTake the Index offline when free space falls below : 10GBCleanup until free space is at least: 10 percent Now we have to move the index+ddb to new disk which is smaller than the actually disc.  I Change the Settings to: Retain index for : 20Generate alerts when free space falls below : 50GBTake the Index offline when free space falls below : 10GBCleanup until free space is at least: 50percent So how can i trigger the cleanup ?

Hi!I’m coming to you with the following issue. Our customer saw a sudden increase in Disk Library usage. Turns out a bunch of jobs weren’t getting aged anymore because their respective subclients were re-associated to a different Storage Policy. This makes sense as the cycle criteria part of the retention wasn’t being hit. However, according to the documentation, Commvault should drop the cycle criteria and age solely on days:“If a subclient is re-associated to a new storage policy, the job retention is dependent on the following factors”“The cycle retention specified in the old storage policy is ignored. When restoring guest files from VMs I should be able to see how big the restore will be, right?I should be able to see the size of the data, in order to predict how much space will be left on the destination VM after the restore..?If I select a specific folder in the restore job and then click “List media and size”, it doesn’t show me the size of the folder I selected.Am I looking in the wrong place? Or is this a nonexistent feature?Thank you =)

Hi All, After upgrading the CommServe from 11SP16 to SP24 with a hardware refresh, we are facing some network issues, where the communication is failing between the CommServe and the clients. Anyone has any idea about the reason why this is happening ? Regards.

Hello everyone,My CISO has asked be to test restores of OneDrive backups and I’ve found something strange.  I have incremental backups configured to run Monday to Thursday at 5:00 PM.  On Friday at 5:00 PM, a synthetic full backup runs also at 5:00 PM that includes an incremental backup just before the synthetic full.  The storage policy is set so the primary copy has a 14 day retention for all backups and a one year retention for Monthly full backups plus a synchronous replication to a media agent at my DR site which has the same 14 day all / 365 day monthly retention.The weird thing is that when I do a “browse and restore” on the most recent OneDrive synthetic full backup, I see files from my OneDrive that were deleted months ago.  Shouldn’t the synthetic full backup be dropping files that are no longer there?Ken

Hi! The exchange guys are in the process of setting up a new exchange cluster, so i am trying to add a new “Exchange DAG” client, but when i try to discover the servers an error pops up with “DAG Discover failed”. I’ve also tried using a proxy, but i get the same error. So, i guess the question is, which log-files should i try to dig into to try and locate where and what the problem with this is ? 

So, easy question, what are the requirements for the Live Browse feature?Specifically, does the live browse only work on virtual machines?  Is this NOT for physical or agent based backups?(Sorry, searched around and didn’t quite find the answer to the actual requirements/limitations - as some of us do still have physical servers that we back up...)

Version 11.24I was using a setup with open-replication SVM1 as source and auxcopy to SVM2 as the destination.I was working with a script to set NetApp snapshot snapmirror-label.I was using the Label “CVDaily”. After have getting this to work I noticed that the snapshots was starting to get a label “IntelliSnap”, which wasn’t there in the beginning. What is the procedure to have CV use this label for all NetApp Snapshots every time?There is no references in the current documentation so, it looks like a ‘hidden’ feature.Source:Source view. Hi, I updated the Commserve from release 11.16 to 11.20, now I should update the mediaagents and clients in production, my questions are:- I can do the hot update while the backups are in progress- if the update fails, can I rollback or does the client still remain in 11.16? ThksDario

HeyIs there documentation on the exact procedure for running the Windows Updates against the CommServe Windows Server. ie.Put CommServe in to maintenance mode. Stop all CommVault Services in Process manager. Run Windows updates. Reboot Server. Ensure all CV services are up and running.ThanksNeil

hi, i want to use a webhook for MS Teams to send our CV alterts directly to a dedicated MS Teams channels. The configuration seems easy. Within commandcenter i added the webhook url provided by MS Teams.Under Monitoring alerts i defined some “standard” definitions like:Backup Job suceeded to be sent to the webhook.No adaptions within the template were made.But in the webhook configuration it always shows me: Webhook offline (date) Has someone managed already a webhook integration with MS Teams and may share his insights, what changes to the standard configuration is necessary. thanks

Hi, I’m running 11.26.20. Download & sync cache is failing, files not found on downloadcenter.But when I check the packages, it stops at 11.26.18…..so how can I have 11.26.20……. (which now causes problems with the download & sync cache process)  

Hi we have a 3rd backup copy to Metallic cloud (we purchased 10TB)I specified 7 Days & 1 cycle so on the job logs i see 2 SYNTH FULL + INC (see attached)But this config takes a lots of storage on Metallic and i would like to optimize as its our 3rd copyI would like to keep only the last FULL backup (+ INC). So what would be the result if i specified 7 Days 0 Cycle, or is it another setting (or i m completely wrong :)) thanks

Hi,I have recently been asked if it is possible to restore SQL System Databases without restoring all User Databases in the same SQL instance?I thought this could be possible in CV however I cant find any way to do so via Web/Java console, only user Databases are listed when attempting to find master, model and msdb.. Any help or thoughts on this would be great appreciated.
