Hello, I have a question about calculation and usage TB license. We purchase 71 TB and 2000 Vm license. But now we are above our TB limit license. I understanded that all physical should use TB license and VM's should count under Protected Virtual Machines. In our case we using Windows File agent to back-up some of VM's but they counted under TB license. Under the client properties i do see Virtual Machine Properties TAB, that mean that client discovered by VM, but still using TB license. here are some exapler:
Hello Guys,i need to remove client in the commcell., but get an error, have an another choice to do this?i use “Retire Client”Force this. How can i make this?** This is a Lab and the server is removed of the Vmware.
I have servers with 10’s of Millions of general user files (.DOC, .XLS) files that are ‘manageable’ using the Standard File Agent method of backup I’ve often considered the Block Level method, but its the idea of ‘another Filter’ Driver in the Windows stack that concerns me:Not due to the quality of the code coming out of CommVault (which is very high) But due to the nature of Anti-Virus drivers, and their updates that often disrupt other filter drivers - with the small potential for a blue screen I’d be interested in any thoughts, comments, experience(The Windows Servers hosting the File Servers are 2016 and 2019 NTFS) Many Thanks
Hi,We are getting errors if we test the active directory authentication (“domain controller” ) from the commserv java guiCan someone tell me in which error log I can find the error?
Moving the Private Metrics Reporting Server to a New Host, the procedure: https://documentation.commvault.com/11.24/essential/37719_moving_private_metrics_reporting_server_to_new_host.html Step 2: Restore the CVCloud database: If you used SQL Server Management Studio to back up the CVCloud database, copy the CVCloud .dmp file, paste it to a location on the new server, and then restore the CVCloud database using SQL Server Management Studio. For instructions, see Complete Database Restores (Full Recovery Model). If you used the SQL agent to run a full backup, restore the CVCloud database to the new dedicated server. For instructions, see Restoring SQL Databases Out of Place. We restore the SQL using SQL agent, out of place.Step 4: Upgrade the restored CVCloud database using the DBUpgradeTool. In the Path to backup Database box, click the [...] button and select a directory for the backup of the database dump file. In the DBUpgrade Log Location box, click the [...] button to loca
I have a requirement to back up data from a server then delete it from the source once complete. Commvault doesn’t have this feature natively so thinking a workflow. Does anyone know if there is a workflow currently available that does that?
Is it possible to make the agentless restore “Browse Files” process faster? It’s so slow that it takes longer to find the files than it does to restore them.
RHEL 7.9 and SELinux have tools such as sealert to report on avc denials. We are seeing many false positive alerts, and they are inconsisent across nodes. Overall about 22 false positives. Why are these false positives triggered inconsistently across nodes? Is using sealert to find alerts recommended? If so, is reducing the false positives using ausearch and semodule to generate local policies recommended or frowned upon? Is there a better way? Thanks.Marc
Hello everyone,I have one client that will not connect to Comm Cell server for backups or updates. The install appears health and running fine...iThe server is a Centos Linux 7.9 server running V11 Linux agent. The following ports are open in iptables 8400, 8401, 8403 and 8600..cvping outbound from the server can connect Comm cell on all the ports list above. However inbound connections using cvping to the client fail on 8401 and 8403.DNS is working correctly and there are no network firewalls between the two servers. The cvd.log has a error: failed to open socket and one more thing strange about this client install is that uses the severs is displaying the uname -a name in commvault Vs. the OS name CENTOS 7.Any help will be greatly appreciated.
could anyone say something about restoring all files from the date a Synthetic full has been created and all subsequent incremental. I did restore:based on the jobs given a time range selection from Oct 5 7.00pm it restored 2000 files but skipped nearly 80k files but don’t know why. It’s seems like only the files from the most recent incremental were restored and the others are actively skipped? Anyone, experience, or an idea? I’ve been able to restore all files + incrementals like that and getting it all, but not this time.
Hey,I’m trying to change a cloned report of webreport “Backup Job Summary”.I’ve cloned it and make some alterations.Im trying to add default values for the client names in the Input Section, but it fail when report is run with “Conversion failed when converting the nvarchar value 'NaN' to data type int.”I suppose that it’s the client name shown in the dropdown list that I should add but that gives an error.According to documentation thats really all thats needed.Anyone know what to put in there? //Henke
Hello all, I want to restore a folder from a mailbox exchange form a DAG. The ddb where is located the box is 500 GB. Must have an equal space, see larger on my proxy exchange in order to restore the ddb completely to recover this folder ? regards
We use another vendor to backup AD and looking into leveraging One touch for scenarios where AD is completely down. I’m aware we’d have to log in locally to the Commcell to even start. But has anyone done this with One Touch before? I’m thinking a simple Authoritative System State restore should work but just wanted to know what other folks experiences have been. Do we even need to use One Touch for this? Many thanks
When trying to install the Unix file system agent on a new machine. I use the following procedure.Create the client on the Commserver, but only for the purpose of being able to create a certificate. On the new client, run the cvpkgadd program. When it asks if there is a firewall, I say “no”. There is a firewall, but sufficient ports are open that when using the installer from Sp18 that it works fine. Using any installer SP20 or later, it us unable to establish a proper connection to the Commserver. If I tell it there is a firewall, and it tries using port 8403, it still times out. I have verified that the Commserve is reachable from the new client on that port. When using SP18, once the installer has completed, then I go into the commserve and provide firewall settings, push the network config and perform a check readiness. I can then update the software to SP23 from the commserve. The SP18 installer does not have this issue. SP20 or later does. The Commserve is currently at SP23.
I configured cloud storage with DDB and plan to enable WORM copy. 1, I’m new on CV, could you guide me how to delete backup set and change retention? want to validate after enable WORM copy on storage. 2, We could enable WORM copy on CV level to make sure no one will delete backup set, any suggestion to protect container on Azure blob? want to make sure no one could delete it?
Hello guys, I’m running a MS SQL backup via VM in Nutanix and even I disabling the Intellisnap in the client everytime a backup start a backup of snap start to run. I checked in the Command Center and in the configurations the Intellisnap is disabled. My concern in this is because the license of snap is being applied and I don’t want to.Is there something that I can do to disable permanently to not use Intellisnap in this case?
Media Agent - installation directory drive is getting full due to Temp folder C:\Program Files\Commvault\ContentStore\Base\TempThere are several files start with CVRF* . why this folder is filled up? Can we delete all these files?
Maybe How are mutliple acces nodes used in NAS CIFS share backups? Load-balancing or failover or both? Is it possble to configure this? I did not find this in CV documentation. Thanks at all.
We have a file server cluster with four nodes. Each node has a certain number of resources (drives) which can also move from one node to another. The second node had to be taken out of the cluster a few weeks ago and is now operational again. If resources move to this node, they can no longer be backed up, because the Commvault plugin does not recognize this. It only works again when I select the resource in Commvault and then perform a manual synchronization. Has anyone ever had this problem ? I also have a few screenshots attached to visualize the problem a bit.RegardsThomas
Hello There is a task of backing up application servers and system databases for SAS (https://www.sas.com/en_us/home.html). Does the Commvault have recommendations or special backup clients for SAS (https://www.sas.com/en_us/home.html).? Regards Aleksandr
Hello, during regular DR-Tests we see problems with the jobresults directory usage for larger DBs (1 TB+):Error Code: [30:375]Description: Encountered error while writing to the file. Error code [28]. Please make sure there is enough disk space on [C:\Program Files\Commvault\ContentStore\iDataAgent\JobResults\CV_JobResults\2\0\4455051\RstStage].Source: Clientname, Process: SQLiDACV stages the whole database there, so we must add an additional 3-5 TB disk for that in the DR-Site on each larger machine. We have also bigger SQL machines which does not consume that much of space in the Job Results Directoy, even when the Jobresultsdirectory size is smaller than the size of DB we are restoring.Does anybody know why this is different between SQL-Systems?
Hey,This is not the first time this happens to me and every time it is an issue since it fills up the disk and it wont release the space until (at least) I either reboot the media agent or add a advsetting key (CLEANUP_TEMP_DB_DAYS = 0). In this case, particular case, i have done both and still wont release the space.Long story short, any time I request a browse from a job that is available on disk but is fairly old, the media agent kicks off a Index Restore, since those indexes are not on media agent anymore. The index kicks in, and thats when the operation starts to fill up the disk. (always with NDMP (V2) that are massive). So, I then, I cancel my browse request, but it is too late now, the background tasks will continue to a point where it fill up the disk. When I look at the three size, I can see the client GUID which just gives us a little bit more info as to which client / confirm the client that cause the problem. So I currently have a media agent that its all of space for a Brow
According to the documentation, “If you are using an earlier version of the operating system, you can optimize the usage of these resources by setting the kernel parameter values” but, the documentation does not make it clear which versions to consider.Does it apply to a Linux release 7.9.2009 (Core) (3.10.0-1160.42.2.el7.x86_64)?And what about number_of_desired_streams?SEMMSL = 12 * number_of_desired_streamsHow to calculate the number of desired streams? Is it the sum of the values for Desired Streams from all the Associated Storage Policies?
Hi , im getting error when trying to create an exchange online client , stopping at creating the azure app. It used to work on earlier versions , i’m now at Version: 11.20.64from log :looks like an error in the powershell scriptIs it an known issue with this version ?
