Hi all!I would like to discuss following situation. We are unable to change retention under Storage Policy Properites → Storage Policy Copy of Primary. After changing the value and clicking OK we see no real changes performed.Is it possible that this setting is somewhere blocked or overwritten by another settings?

I have servers (VMs and servers with agents) that are being decommissioned.  The request from my boss is to do a full backup and keep it after the server is deleted.  The VMs are in a subclient and I am worried that their backups will be deleted if the VM is removed from the subclient.  Similarly, I am concerned the backups will be lost if a SQL agent is removed.  I am looking for some documents  or advice that can guide me through this process of removing a server from the backup schedule while retaining the past backups.  Then comes the question “How would you restore a backup of a decommissioned server?”Any help for this newbie is appreciated.

We have a legacy setup wherein a share is both archived and backed up utilizing different sudo-clients.  There is a sudo-client to take intellisnap backup; and then there is another sudo client which runs archive job on the same location.  I am a bit confused by this setup.   What is archiving actually doing?  My understanding was it would create a stub and move the data from primary storage to the MediaAgent saving some space on the primary storage and the backups would be smaller.Also when we restore the backups would it restore the stub or actual data?  Also what happens during the restore/recall of archive; does stub gets replaced by the files and would that mean that the if there is another client running backup on the same share; it will capture all data rather than stub;  Setup: Netapp Share: NetApp 9.84 Cluster-ModeSudo client ZCluster1:  Snapshot backup runs (Intellinsnap); backup copy goes to the MA (has DDB/IndexCache). Location it protects“/svm-hsc-cifs/SharedDrives” Anothe

What is the difference between Incremental Storage Policy and Log Sorage Policy? And Which one should I use with PostgreSQL Incremental Backups? We know that Incremental Backups are translated to Transactional Log backups.

Hi, in the documentation, we can read “The Virtual Server Agent for Amazon creates crash-consistent backups of all instances that are selected for a subclient.” I would suppose that to have an application consistent backup of an Amazon machine, we need to install the specific Commvault agent(s) on the Amazon machine? how to deal with DFS backup, I have multiple servers replicating data between, right now the dfs shares are backup using \\unc\path from windows subclinet but many files are skipped. I’m surprised that there is no DFS client option to backup shares from multiple servers. If I deploy the agent all servers consumes my license and backup the same data multiple times   

Working on hardware and OS refresh. My first shot was to attach new machine to LiveSync (already has active-passive configuration present) allow it to sync and make new one active one. Is it possible? Or better follow Commserve hardware migration procedure? Not sure if OS (Windows 2019 vs 2012)  and SQL (2012 vs 2016) version mismatch would allow me to do so? First attempt was not successful, as failover instance is not able to communicate with other nodes. Throwing  “Failed to get current active node from config file for node” errors. Don’t want to wast time for troubleshooting  as it may not te supported at all. 

HI I am backing up an AIX (7.2) sever with an Oracle data base (19C), data base size is ± 20TB. Problem I am having is the job results folder keeps filling up, till now my colleagues have just been extending the volume to make the problem go away, however we are now sitting with jobs result folder that is 50Gb in size.I have arranged root access to the server in question and found that the problem is actually in the CV_CLDB folder where I have a CacheTable.dat file that is currently around 35Gb in size and a CacheTable.idx that is currently around 14Gb in size, so my understanding is that these should shrink when pruning takes place which set for 3 days but it would appear that this is not happening, I have tried changing the pruning frequency to check if it makes a difference but nothing, not sure how to reduce the size of these files at this point, and don't want to keep throughing space at the problem.Commvault version installed is 11.20.36

Hi All,we configured our first archive job, not OnePass but a archive subclient.We saw that the first Full did not create any stubs, but only the subsequent incremental created them.If this normal?How can I obtain two different retentions for a backup and archive jobs of a volume using Onepass ?Many thansk.Franck

Hi,When we want to do Guest files and folder restore for a RH8 EFI client, but we do not see much to restore. Can this have something do that the FREL for download is CentOS 7?With BIOS instead of EFI we do not encounter this problem.In other words do we need to create a RH8 Media agent and convert it to a FREL? With an outcome unknown. Or is there is a simple solution? ThanksDanny

Hello, On my windows MAs or CS, I have a Commvault DynCache service, that’s listed in the Processes tab of the Process Manager, but not in the Services tab. When I select to stop all CV services, this one is never stopped.I have tried to look for information regarding this service/executable, to know what it is used for, but can’t find any information in docs, and Google has also none.So where’s the best place -outside of CV support- to have information on CV binaries ? You guessed it : over there, so any details about this would be greatly appreciated. 

Hi all, When creating a disk library on a media agent, I get the folllowing error message: Installation Directory lookup failed for given MediaAgent. Doesn’t matter if I select a local folder or a network location… We are running feature release 11.24… Anyone any idea where to look? Regards,Bart

SQL AON backup is configured and it is known that the DB backup runs via primary node and log backup runs based on the preference settings. It was running as expected.  However, when the failover happens at DB side primary becomes secondary and vice versa. But the SQL Backup Master is still pointing to the same old primary node.  How can we make the SQL backup master services to be rolled back to the new primary node.

We are currently having Commvault setup in Amazon. To our customers we are having a cascading Network proxy. Commvault is setting up a tunnel from the Network proxy in amazon to the network proxy at our customer site.I would like to know what kind of traffic is being used between the two network proxies? (tunnel)Is it save to send this traffic over the internet without VPN? Thanks in advance!

I’ve configured File Archiving for a customer on a Ntapp NAS device.Everything is working correctly during a recall operation on all files that have been archived, except *.pdf files. When you try recall you get the below error:  You’ll click ‘OK’ and then try the recall a second time and it runs successfully and the file opens.Adobe Reader is the default PDF application on the user’s workstation. This is being noted on all user workstations.Any ideas on how to resolve this? Thanks.Mauro
