Hello, before 11.34 I was able to add a storage Storage Disk On backup location I select the Media agent and the radio button Network I put the credentials of the network share and I put the CIFS path It seems that it it not possible on new versions after 11.3211.32 > OK11.34 or 11.36 > KOeven if a select network share, it is waiting for a local path :( Any Idea ?Thanks
Hello,We use Commvault 11.34 (we plan to update to 11.36 in 2 months) I want to use the data masking feature of CommvaultI have 2 pgsql VMs hosted on VMware environment. The DBA ask me if it is possible to restore the VMs on a test environment and apply a data Making policy to anonymize the restored data.I have checked the Commvault Documents about this featureDoes someone have a experience feedback about this feature ?Thanks !
Is there a way to control which nodes Commvault uses as a SQL backup master in a SQL AG backup? We are doing a migration of our SQL AG servers to another Commcell but the approach is per site. So they are moving the primary replica first. What I would like to know is if there is a reg key/ additional settings to enable to force Commvault to assign the SQL Backup Master on the primary replica. From what I know Commvault chooses the SQL Backup master at random. Any useful suggestion is appreciated.
Hello, I need help in diagnosing whether a copy of Big Data Apps is needed and why it started executing. I noticed it after one of Commvault's updates. Client is “Storage policy name” plus _IndexServer ex. 2w_prod_IndexServer
Hi All, we have implemented the workflow Delete Jobs Authorization this help by deleteing jobs from sp lvlv but when we are trying to delete content from an tape there is now proection. is tehere an option or workfwlo wich prevent this part ?
Hello all!Last time we do have had a some problems with MongoDB instance, services etc…So one thing comes to my mind - what does MongoDB is actually used for in Commvault enviroment? We do have 2 comserve nodes, can someone provide me any documentation or a quick overwiew what it is actually used for? And if it is needed for all the time regardless what type of backups are running?
Is there documentation for disk libraries hardware requirements? We are looking to buildout our storage and would like to know what is acceptable and what is not. Tad Peterson
Hi Commvault Team, my customer is interested in Commvault SW. Does Commvault supports parallel volume snapping of IBM SAN Volume Controller (SVC) with Windows OS? The matrix say yes but the documentation says only flash no svc as you can see enclosed. Can you please clarify? Regards Thomas
I'm actually trying to modify the Backup Summary Report, which has this same issue. In my example, it’s a fresh, new report with one dataset. I’d simply like to add an Input (like the ones on the Backup Summary Report), but “Add” does nothing at all. Note that I CAN add datasets - clicking add displays the appropriate wizard on screen. The documentation doesn’t state any prerequisites: https://documentation.commvault.com/2022e/essential/input_controls_for_build_your_own_reports.html What could I be missing? Thank you~
Hello Commvault Community, I have a strange case where a connection loss occurred in the environment during an AG SQL backup, the Commvault system resumed the backup job for another attempt, but didn’t reset the Size of Application counter from the first attempt, which increased this parameter by x1.5 times, causing the Front-end license to be exceeded. To clarify the situation, AG SQL in the case of Full Backup actually has 6.9 TB Size of Application - that's 22 databases. For example, a correctly performed backup tonight (from 21.01 to 22.01) for JobID [...]140, correctly recognized 6.9 TB Size of Application. Last night (from 20.01 to 21.01) Full Backup was also performed and the network connection was interrupted (this isn’t the most important thing at the moment), then Commvault independently resumed the backup job in the second attempt, which ended correctly, but unfortunately the Size of Application from the first interrupted attempt was added to the second one, which was comp
Hi,when I modify the Plan for a HANA database Instance, all database’s subclients are also moved to the new PLAN.is this the expected behaviour ?changing the PLAN for an Instance (i.e. CommandLine subclient), I don’t want to change the PLAN for all databases in the same step.Usually I use a base PLANs without schedules/backup frequencies, but backup destinations for the commandline subclients, while I use derived PLANs for the databases including the backup frequencies. If I modify the destination of commandline backups, I do not automatically want to remove the existing schedules and backup destinations for all my defined databasesrgdsKlaus
Hi All, i would like to find out if it is possible to send logs files to a different location than the Deduplicated library used for DB backups. I want to send my log backups to a non deduplicated Library. I am aware that Commvault knows how to handle Logs in a dedupe policy but I would prefer to have them stored in a different Library so they don't go through the Dedupe Engine. I know in Storage policy days we could have an Incremental policy assigned and would like to know if we can do the same with Plans. Thanks in Advance MeatBall :)
I have installed the CV Agent on a test PostGRESQL server and configured a schedule policy for one full backup and 3 incrementals on a daily basis. The issue is that it gets all 4 backups as full and I cannot figure out why.
Hi,currently I’m struggeling with the implementation of Plans and Plan Rules in an existing Commcell (V11.32.73)I created a Plan Rule, to select all Clients with File Server solution, that are associated with an exsiting Client Computer Group to be assigned to an exsiting Plan.I don’t find any clients in the Waiting Room, and the clients I intend to assign, are also not present in the Excluded Entities list.I tried the Rule with All Regions and Any Region selected. did not change the outcome.I also removed the wanted solution, resulting in Any Solution. Now I find one client in the Waiting room.Even though the solution is shown as File Server, I can click on that client’s subclient and end up in a HANA subclient. Why don’t I get the regular File Server solutions listed for the Plan Rule and is there something I missed ??There is no Default Plan defined for the Commcell, as requested in the documentation.regardsKlaus
We are going to refresh the CommServe and MA hardware with below procedure.https://documentation.commvault.com/2023e/expert/commserve_hardware_refresh_overview.htmlhttps://documentation.commvault.com/2023e/expert/mediaagent_hardware_refresh_overview.htmlWe have 2 physical servers.CommServe with media agent and local disk library size is almost 20 TB Media Agent and local disk library is almost 20 TBFirstly, we tried to migrate CommServe with local DL. After restore the DR backup on new hardware, we tried to copy all contents from old CommServe DL to new CommServe. But data copy to new server is in progress and very larger capacity than source (Source capacity is 20 TB out of 21 TB, Destination capacity is 25 TB and going to 100% over). How can we move old CS library data to new CS?Secondly, Do we need to migrate/hardware refresh the MA first then CommServe?Thirdly, Can we do bare metal image level backup and restore for both CommServe and MA?
Hey folks,Thanks for reading. I need some help. I just need pointed in the right direction, but this time, I’m under the gun and don't have time to do research.According to those in the know here, we have a virtual server that we use VMW Recover Point on to send a backup to another VM server at our DR location. My question is, doesn’t Commvault do this? Can we just back up the VM and move it to the DR site? Does that question even make sense?I’m pretty sure it can be done, I just don’t know where to start. Can someone be kind enough to point me in the right direction? I feel like I am bouncing all over the place in the website and can’t find the right article to get started on.Thanks for the help.
When I run the report, no data is returned. I am running it from the command center. I have adjusted the participating CommCell to be the correct CommCell. I am an admin in the environment.I have read the two related topic, but those referenced how they found it.I am trying to verify when the throughput of our backup jobs started to decline. Thanks,Tad Peterson
After upgrading the commserver and webserver to FR36, we were not able to access the webconsole and commandcenter. I could see IIS serverrole is installed on commserver as well but before upgrade it was not installed. I believe IIS serverrole should be on webserver only. and also i could see under the IIS server role “ConsoleApp.NetCore” is in stopped status, even after starting manually it going to stopped state automatically.
Folks, Does Commvault allow you to restore DB backups from a source SAP HANA DB server (SAPdbServer1) to the filesystem path of a destination SAP HANA DB server (SAPdbServer2) which can then be restored into the destination SAP DB using SAP HANA Studio tools? I can perform this type of SAP HANA DB restore as file using Azure Backup but cannot find the same feature and procedure in Commvault. (See the Azure Backup screenshot showing this restore)Both the source and destination servers are Azure VMs running Suse Linux (SLES 15.6) and both are being backed up as Commvault Virtual Machines. The source Db server is also running the CommVault SAP DB agent but the destination server is not yet running this agent. I could also restore these DB backup files to the filesystem of a fileshare (CIFS) mounted on a third server (ClientServer3) and then mount that same fileshare to the destination server to enable restore of these DB files using SAP HANA Studio tools. I’m currently running CommVault 1
Hello Everyone,I am planning for Immutable Backup Solution for exiting commvault backup setup. I am new to this type of requirement and due to limited resources on Immutablity in Commvault for Azure I am not able to present this solution to customer(Impact,Risk & Storage Cost Increase) before actual implemention. I have below questions in mind after reading basic documentation available on Internet.Appreciate your help on below questions ?Thanks in advance.Queries:1) After enabling WORM Copy on Commvault will create the Immutable copy ? Is there anything more we need to do from commvault side ?2) My environemnt is on Azure Cloud, Do we need to apply any additonal settings on Azure Blob Container (Backend Storage)?3) WORM Copy can't be converted to a regular copy if customer want to revert back then will WORM COPIES fully expires?4) Is the WORM Copy supported for Intellisnap SAP HANA DB Backups & Copy, AZURE VM Snapshot Backup, Cloud Storage Account Backup & NAS ?5) Will it
Hi Team, I am working on a report that we need for my own team. Our goal is, we taking laptop backups and here the "Privacy" option is the most important point in data privacy. I could not see a single screen where we can see/report the Privacy option of Notebooks in Commvault CommCell Console, CommandCenter or reports. For this reason, I started working with Rest API. I see two options with the two APIs below and accordingly my questions are as follows.1. I entered the same ClientID and DeviceID, so I assume that these two are actually the same. In this case, which API would be correct for me to use?2. No matter which API I use, it wants me to enter a DeviceID or ClientID. Is there an API where I can list all the Privacy options of Laptops without this dependency?API - ServerUrl/Device/DeviceID---> "isLocked": true,API - ServerUrl/Client/ClientID------>"enableDataSecurity": true, Or any suggestion how I can handle this would be great. Thanks for advance.
Hi, is there any possibility to disable software compression an a secondary copy?In my setup I have a primary deduplicated copy with software compression enabled, for an additional secondary copy I need to disbale on that copy software compression and deduplication since the Dell Data Domain and CyberSense doesn’t want to have compression enabled. Here it is described that it should be possible to disable it, but I didn’t see that option.https://documentation.commvault.com/11.20/modifying_software_compression_on_non_deduplicated_storage_policy_copy.html Is there any possibility to disable it anyway? BR
Does Commvault support Oracle 23?Based on the system requirements document support stops at 21c That said is there a support matrix document that maybe I cannot find? Thanks.Chris.
Hello,is it possible using permission to limit a user to be able to perform a restore from a copy specific copy only ?I don’t want the user to restore from the AWS copy for example only the primary ! Thanks
Disaster Recovery Backup was all running well. Now there’s a job that has been running for a week, stuck at 95% and I can’t kill the job.The ‘Reason for job delay’ is:Error Code: [19:2198]Description: Copying of Disaster recovery files to staging location is in progress.Source: cvrvi01-cv, Process: JobManager There’s plenty of space on the local drive where the DR backups are saved. Permissions haven’t been changed.Any ideas on how to find out what’s blocking the job from finishing or alternatively how to kill the job so subsequent jobs can run without having to wait for this one to finish?
