Software Upgrades and Updates

Hello:My IT security colleague wants to know if we can manually update the version of Python that is installed on the Commvault server. We have version 3.11 on the server and they are receiving alerts about possible vulnerabilities in the version and that is why they want the most updated version.

I Understand that commcell console are not support on new version but if my new client thay want to use it, Is it still possible? and How to ?

Hellowe just upgraded from 11.28.x to 11.32.73 a few days ago and now we have been getting these DATA CUBE EVENTS.  Im not sure why or how these started or what they are.   I still consider myself a novice commvault user. for our upgrade We had to basically uninstall commvault and then uninstall MS SQL as we couldn't go straight to 11.32 as our MS SQL server was still on 2014 with 11.28.xSo once we uninstalled both commvault and MS SQL we used the 11.32.x Full version to install commvault/ MSSQL back onto our server with the same commvault packages as prior then we did a recovery on the DBs.  Of course I had issues with the Recovery portion and had to tie in support.   But now Im noticing the following:  EVENT CODE 72:176[Data Cube service] with URL [http://xxxxxxxxxx.xxx.com:20000/solr/api/ping] is not responsive. Reason [Data Cube service is down or unreachable]. Please make sure [Data Cube service] is running and reachable.Im not familiar with it - DATA CUBE.  Is there a turn off sw

Hi,I need to upgrade my commvault platform and upgrade from 11.20 to 11.36The service commserve is in stand-alone configuration.I have recently been dealing with this backup platform, I ask for help to have a procedure with the steps to be taken for the safe update. ThksDario 

After upgrading from 11.32 to 11.36.28, some backups on the Azure stack fail with this error:Unable to create a virtual machine snapshot of [x]. [Failed to fetch a Valid SAS Token. Could not find member 'fileFormat' on object of type 'AccessData'. Path 'fileFormat', line 1, position 57. Code=BadRequest, HTTP Code=400-Bad Request] Please check the virtual machine snapshot tree. Any help?

download and does not allow me to download 11.36.x directlyit allow me onlt 11.32.x or 11.34.x do I need to upgrade to 11.34 firstly and then 11.36 or am I missing something?

The issue arises because, after installation, the GUI cannot launch, and the following message is displayed: Using update installer /home/pawin/Commvault_Linux/linux-x8664/LooseUpdates/CU116/linux-glibc2.3-x86_64/installer/newinstall.gz running as /root/.gxsetup/cvpkgadd/newinstall: im not sure Commvault v11 SP16 compatible with Linux AlmaLinux 8.10? /home/pawin/Commvault_Linux/   it have permission root by chmod -R 777 

We currently have a single Windows Server 2019 running Commvault 11.28.129 (serves as both commserve/media).  I see that our MSSQL is version 2016 ( product version 13.0.6455.2). So I normally download regular maintenance releases on a jumpbox and then upload it to a file share location and then on the commserve I do a copy via TOOLS | ADD/REMOVE SOFTWARE | Copy Software. What is the best approach to upgrade to 11.32.x.   Do I just download both the Windows & linux latest 11.32.x update  (we only have RHEL & windows clients - about 18 total) ??   Then copy the 11.32.x over to our file share were I can then do a copy via commserve  TOOL | ADD/REMOVE SOFTWARE | COPY SOFTWARE? Then just perform a “Upgrade Software” via commcell | Tools | Add/Remove software?Basically can I upgrade the Long Term Support release of 11.32.x via the commcell?Or do I have to download the main 11.32 package from the commvault support site - Downloads & Packages | v11 Download Manager & Additiona

Does these physical HP UX servers FS level backups are still supported in Commvault?RX7620 , HP-UX Ver11v2RX1620 , HP-UX Ver11v2As we know HPUX 11.2 is EOSL. As i checked in documentation.commvault.com it has its supported but with conditions, not able get full clarity. We have  requirement for data migration from HP DP to Commvault, so in that case, can we use 11.32 or 11.34 to get FS level backups on these machines? 

Hello team,We are currently working in a multi-tenancy environment, and some time ago a customer was completely removed from our Commcell (clients, policies, pools, company etc), however, an Uninstall software operation is bein triggered automatically only for this customer, which fails due there isn’t any chance to reach the clients due they were already removed.Following the job events, the username which triggers the job is started by “System”, but I’m not able to find out from where this job is being trigger.  I also checked the if the remove laptop option is activated, but it’s set as “never”. Case was opened but the support couldn’t see anything useful, the suggestion was upgrading the environment.  Do you know from where this “schedule” maybe is activated?  Thank you.

Is it no longer necessary to create Exchange Recovery Points for Exchange Online or might this be a bug?     

I am doing a hardware refresh of my Commvault Environment and would like to setup Both Commserver & Media Agents on Redhat Linux.Is this supported and can i migrate from Windows Commserver to Linux?Can only see online that Commserver only supports Redhat 8.10 and Not Redhat 9 and does the fileystem partitioning also matter?

Hi FellowsAfter reboot, installation continue but failed, because the language cannot find find the source DVD ???If I start the installation (from program files\CommVault\installer… the only option I’ve got is “Download packages to install on a different computer”I’ve tried to install CommCell on this computer (Win2019).I’ve tried also to install IIS before...same Any suggestion ?ThanksJasmin

This is an informative post targeting customers, like MSPs, who use the Private Metrics Billing engine for chargeback or other use cases. Do note that ones you upgrade to CPR2024 that the billing engine stops showing information. For some reason, and without notification/communication, Commvault decided to redrawn the possibility to use the billing engine by customers. We have a ticket open for it already.  

Hello,I would like to get a list of all failed jobs in the last 24 hours.I was able to get all the job ids from the last 24 hours but to find the failed ones I need to retrieve the data of each job and it is not efficient and might take a long time. Is it possible to do it more efficiently?

After setting up an update from version 11.32.59 to 11.32.63 that failed, the commvault web console is not accessible anymore. Not from localhost on the linux server that hosts it, or from any of the clients. It still sends emails that there are updates available for download, but I’m unable to connect to the webconsole. The Web service is running if I go to ip:5000/searchsvc/cvwebservice.svc but I get an unable to connect when trying to log into the console itself.

Currently, our environment consists of a CommServe installed on a Windows Server 2016 virtual machine, with a Media Agent and a proxy server each on separate Windows Server 2016 machines. My goal is to migrate the entire solution to Windows Server 2022 virtual machines on Azure, followed by upgrading the CommVault software from 11.28.117 to the last version.It’s important to note that I was not involved in the initial installation or configuration of this CommVault solution. I am trying to install SP14 CV agent in Linux server (RHEL 8.8) but its stuck with error “NFS directory cannot be used”. whereas all directories as XFS. Its not allowing to install agent in any directories

HiI am trying to install a couple of Linux clients as part of an Oracle RAC Cluster backup/restore test we are running. We haven’t used Oracle RAC before so all a bit new, but when i try and install the two clients we have the install fails with this error.RNG error number from CVwhen i check the SW Cache details cannot see that it is disabled or how it could enabled/disabled etc. i can see the SW cache in the CommCell browser and no where does it give me the option to enable or disable it? In the Web UI dont even really get the to be able to view the cache (manage>system>maintenance does not include anything that calls itself an SW cache but hey why would the commcell browser and web ui call things the same!!!!!)I am at a loss as to what i need to change?Version 11.32.xx (2023E)ThanksJames

Hi All, Recently we upgrade the CommServe from 11.24 to 11.32 and our monitoring team have advised about one of the server is not running  <CommSserve > Required service not running: Commvault Content Extractor (Instance001)<MediaAgent> Required service not running: Commvault Content Extractor (Instance001)When I am looked in Services of Windows or under CommVault process manager, I do not see any such services. Note :Upgrade went successful,  Backups/Admin jobs are running fine. I am just trying to verify or confirm before I say them not to monitor that servce.
