License File do not march this CommServer

Hello Commvault Community, I hope everyone is doing well. I recently purchased a Commvault license, but unfortunately, I made a mistake when entering the serial number during the activation process. As a result, I am unable to proceed with activation because the serial number I entered does not match the one registered on the CommServer. I would greatly appreciate any assistance or guidance on how to resolve this issue. Thank you in advance for your help! Best regards,

How does a customer determine the MS SQL Version that is currently in use on the Commserve? Customer would like to check the version to determine if an upgrade is needed.

SSO error while accessing Partner University site.

While accessing the partner university site I receive the following error and the “Click Here to find the possible solution for this error” page doesn’t help. The other topics related to this problem don’t give a solution except commvault employees doing something. Who would I need to contact to get this fixed?

after upgrade to 11.32 backup. On one client out of many stopped working. rest are OK

After updating from 11.28, to 11.32. Have a single system that is not able communicate properly with the commserve for backup purposes. Check Rediness returns OK. cvping from/to the client and commserv is happy. All services on the client are running. client and commserve are in same subnet, so no firewall appliances between them. Client services stopped/started, and finally rebooted the client. no change. Some of the errors in the logs: “There is no incoming network connection from ‘commserve’” “No Incoming tunnel from ‘commserve’” “Couldn’t translate client name ’client’ to a client ID. last step i guess is to re-install the client?

Best approach for Windows 2012 to Windows 2019 upgradeHi

Hello, We have a private metrics reporting server running on Windows 2012 VM. It has off-course SQL server as well as Web-server package. CV version is 11.28.91. The plan is to do an in-place upgrade to Wndows 2019. What would be the best approch for this upgrade, and what should be considred before upgrading ? Thanks

Commserve /DR Commserve v11.20 running live sync Hardware Refresh

Planning to do a hardware refresh of Commvault environment running livesync. I would appreciate some advice on how this can be done.Reasons for doing the refresh is as follows:1. Upgrade to Commvault v11.32 2. Commvault currently running v11.20 with SQL 2012 as the backend3. OS of Commserve and DR Commserve need to be upgraded from Windows 2016 to Windows Server 2022 Anyone who has done similar initiatives ? What are the caveats and steps on how to implement this?

after failed update setup starts automatically on reboot

Hi team, my customer started an update SP28 ->SP32 . Update failed due to several issues. We are in solving issue by issue but it will take some time. Now we observed that update procedure starts and wants to continue everytime we reboot the Commserve host. We checked the scheduler but cannot find who iniciates the update process. At the moment we should not and want not update to 32. Sql is now Ok, but we have still some index V1 issues we want to solve on SP28 before update. Does a key or a procedure exist which lock the update process until we are ready to update? Can anybody help ? Thanks in advance Joerg

Actually, I tried to install the CV agent on windows client system, but not luck it is failed. for that require download software in software cache or else direct push. if it is direct push then, I think install full media that's why it’s failed. Please suggest.

Change Commserve Hostname in CommandCenter

Hi, Have installed a new 11.34 and need to move the CS to a new domain. How can I change the CS hostname in CommandCenter? I manage to change it under Manage - Servers - CS client - hostname, I clicked save and it did not complain. But it also did not change the previous hostnamne. Documentation for 11.34 still refers to Commcell Console which requires a supportcase to get an authcode. Br, /Patrik

Availability communicated maintenance releases

Last week we received a mail notifying us that new maintenance relapses were available. We run both FR32 and FR34. • 11.34.11 (06-Feb-2024)• 11.32.42 (06-Feb-2024) For both platform releases we now notice that those maintenance releases are not available anymore, instead MA shows 11.32.43 and 11.34.13. What happend to the maintenance releases who were made available last week? Were they pulled back or were they replaced, without communication, because new critical fixes were released? What should you do when you are running on 11.34.11 or 11.32.42?

obtaining MR versions of laptop agent software

I have a ticket open for this already, but a number of Commvault techs seem to be stumped, so figured I’d post here. We have a single all-in-one windows commcell server, that is airgapped and has no direct internet access. We use it solely to back up desktops and notebooks, so we have deployed the Windows Edge Monitor agent to all of them. I thought that if you downloaded a new MR, and ran the install, not only does it stop the services, do all the hotfixes, and restart the services - that it should also update the software cache so you’ll be ready to update your Windows laptop agents as soon as it is done. This does not appear to be the case, as we just did this, and while the new version number appears in the command center dashboard as well as the bottom of the commcell console, there are no newer agent versions appearing in the software cache. If we try to do a copy software job to add the newer MR to the software cache, commvault will fail that job, saying “Error Code: [68:481] De

Hi, We are installing a new server W2022 Commvault 11.32 from W2012+11.20+SQL2012 from a DR Backup. As we understand, this update path is allowed. The process of installation was fine, but at the step restore an upgrade DB from DR Backup, The process begins and is progressing well, but fail with: FATAL ERROR - DBScriptsPath value does not exist in DBUpgradeSteps table. Clarification on changes to full backups in Platform Release 2024

Hello! In the latest platform release 2024 (11.34), the option to select “All agents” for a full backup was removed. The change note states “Full Schedules apply to database backups. For other agents, each backup job will back up only the new and modified items and create a full recovery image. Therefore, running repeated full backup is not required.” It links to the “Server plans” page of the documentation, but not much else is mentioned there except for step 5 in “Creating a plan” which states, “To specify additional backups, such as weekly full backups, move the Extended retention rules toggle key to the right, and then add rules.” Does this mean that all server backup plans use synthetic backups by default if it is not a database? My use case is largely running application consistent backups for virtual machines. Currently our backup policies state the exact day and time that weekly/monthly/yearly full backups will run, which may need to change to keep compliant if we are not able

Upgrading Commvault from 11.20 to 11.28

Hello, Currently, we are using version 11.20 of Commvault on a Commserve Windows 2012 and SQL version 2012 server. The Commserve is a VM. We want to upgrade the Commvault version to 11.28 and we need to upgrade the OS version and SQLServer to Windows 2022. What is the correct method to follow to upgrade Commvault?Can we upgrade the OS and SQL version into 2022 and then install version 11.28 of Commvault : in this case, we need go through intermediate versions? Could this cause database corruption? Or is it better to rebuild the VMs? Thank in advance for your response.
