Hi,I need to backup virtual machines in specific order (this is VMware streaming backup with application-aware Active Directory). Is any possibility to do that, except creating subclient and schedule for every single VM?For now I have multiple VMs in one subclient. I think I can set 1 data reader in that subclient and Commvault will backup in some sequence, but how to set this sequence? Because I don’t know if Commvault choose VM to backup randomly or in alphabetical order maybe?Commvault 11.24Regards

An edge condition was found when performing a file-level restore of a virtual machine using the Virtual Server Agent, the Access or Proxy Node may reboot due to the CVVD.sys driver that loads the backup data for browsing.The following versions are affected:FeatureRelease 22.42 to 22.49 FeatureRelease 23.29 to 23.34 FeatureRelease 24.15 to 24.20 FeatureRelease 25.0 to 25.2Some common symptoms are the CVD log will flood with NULL values and the following error will be reported for the browse on the media agent.Failed to receive browse response from MediaAgent. Hi,we use Commvault 11.20 and i try to restore Guest files and folders from my Windows VMs.We use vSphere 7.x.I get this error when i try to browse to a Windows VM:Browse failed due to error while mounting virtual machine: Internal error during Pseudomount of Guest disks.Any idea?In my other Agent with another vCenter it works fine.Thanks and regardsDennis

I get this warning message for one of our VMware VMs.  Not getting any specific hits while searching this.  I think this may be a VSS issue but am not sure where else to go with this.  There is no Commvault agent on this VM.  VSS is configured to unlimited.Any hints would be appreciated.

Hello, I have a question about saving % of dedup. What is best practise setup/setting to get above 90% of saving on dedup. For exaplare i have alot of vm backup where yestoday saving of 90% and next day on same vm backup lover then 90% What is de case of bad dedup???

 Hi Team, I try to merge the duplicate Client but encounter this error. is there i need to manually rename the backupset for each client?    

If you have one node in pause mode inside a hyper-v cluster and start a backup on a clustershared volume with Intellisnap enabled the job failed because of the node that is in pause mode.Is there an option or solution to work around this?

Is it possible to create an automatic updated group of clients which have had successful VM backups. The members would be the VMs not the VMware cluster.

We  use Intellisnap to create AWS EC2 snapshot, and run backup copy to move them to AWS S3.  Backup copy through is only 50GB per hour. I see backup job transport type is EBS-Direct-API. We don’t deploy EBS-Direct-API, should spend time to review it internally. Any chance to change transport type to get best performance?

Hi, Today, when I tried to restore a whole VM from a tape backup that is 1 month old, it gave me the below message, asking for a missing tape for index restore to browse So, I loaded the tape 66L8, in fact, I loaded all the tapes needed for this backup job. As you can see from the below screenshot, all the tapes needed for this backup job are in the tape library now.  But, it doesn’t make any difference. The restore is still giving me the same message, i.e. asking for the same missing tape (which has been loaded in the tape library) for index restore to browse  So, I’m wondering if anyone can tell me what’s still missing here for this restore job ? Or I actually need to hit the “Restore Index” button ? Sorry if I asked a stupid question as this is the first time I need to do a VM restore from tapes. Thanks very much, Kelvin

Hello, We have ran into a very strange issue. After we upgraded to FR26 our Windows team has been complaining that the Hyper-V nodes are going into non-responsive state during the backups and in some cases they have to force a reboot to bring those nodes and VMs back online. They have provided below data to support their side of the argument: The issue is only observed during the backup window. While the backups progress, multiple disk/vhdx related error/warning messages are being logged: Disk 208 has the same disk identifiers as one or more disks connected to the system. A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the GxCVD(Instance001) service. All Commvault services report this.  The disk signature of disk 208 is equal to the disk signature of disk 5. DISKPART shows multiple entries like:  Disk 5    Invalid         200 GB      0 B   * This was not observed prior to the upgrade we performed. We have opened a Commvault inc

I have a virtual server iDA in my environment that was used as a proxy to backup a vcenter client.That vcenter is now switched off and so is the virtual server.Just want to check/confirm that the simple way to “clean up” in the Commcell is to “Retire Client” on both?Obviously this will keep the old backups until they age out.Thanks :)

Hi, we are configuring the Intellisnap backups for the virtual machines. Configured sublcients with datastore affinity rules. Snapmirror is configured for the datastore to DR site. we want to integrate this set up with SRM, When we made the DR site volume RW and set up a backup & snapmirror to the original location, instead of replicating to the old volume, it is creating a new volume. is there any way we can configure in CV so that reverse replication will be done to the original volume instead of craeting a new volume Thank you Jayaram  

I configured AWS EC2 intellisnap and backup copy, primary snap Retain snap by number of job as 1. Run daily incr, weekly full and monthly full schedule.  I could see Commvault retain all snapshot from June 16, has more than 6 snapshot for each volume. Maybe some daily incr. is waiting for some weekly full job. Commvault already provide DDB, daily incr. and daily full should be no more different.  Shall we use daily full and weekly full, or what is best practice for backup type for AWS intellisnap.

This is a request for information on best practices and general overview. We are in the process of migrating from our existing file share to VSphere File Shares. There doesn’t appear to be a lot of information since this is a new service from VMware.I believe the best way is to deploy the file system agent to each of the fs share nodes that VSphere created. Since these are Photon OS, the Linux tar file should still be correct^Looking for confirmation or elaboration on both of those points!I found this article referencing NFS shares, but mine are SMB and its response link with the VEEAM add in but it’s not a great correlation with my issue    Vmware Vsan NFS share | Community (commvault.com)

Plan to replicate backup data from source to target region, create AWS VPC endpoint for com.amazonaws.s3-global.accesspoint, it will make sure replication data go through AWS backbone. Hi , Just to check and confirm with the community here , are we able to execute an out of place restore of SAP Hana from a physical server/host to a ESXI environment?Customer primarily run their SAP hana on physicals servers but they are exploring instances which they can do testing of SAP hana instances on their esxi farm. 

We have SAP HANA running on SLES VM on ESXi and we are getting Commvault Backup & Recovery For Virtual Machines but now realize that SAP HANA is an in-memory Database. Will commvault force memory to commit to storage when starting a backup? What other commvault options have we got?

Hi, i did some reaseach but did not find any valid information regarding license oversubscription.  So as seen we aquired 2000 Permanent Total Virtual Operating Instances but currently use 2008. I’am not seeing any grace period for oversubscription or any negative impact currently. Is there a X% allowance or grace period for this ? thanks  

We are currently trying to test a restore using a Linux VSA for several windows servers (2012R2,2016,2019). After the first backup and restore we haven't had any issues restoring specific files to the same server of to other servers (all windows).Unfortunately after last nights backup, today we tried again to restore some files, with no success.Every time we try to select the destination server we get prompted with user/password for that server and then we try to browse for the specific path, but we keep getting the same error:Something went wrong. Server may be under maintenance. Trace ID: cvtZsQyx9YDid something happened during the backup process and now the servers are not visible?This is a first time issue and cant get a solution for it.Any advises are appreciated. Thank you.
