Unfortunately I cannot install the Commvault Agent on the server. This error message occurs during installation. C++ packages are all installed. Restart already done. All Windows updates are installed. Installation directly on the client and from Commserv do not work.

Commvault backup statergy for SQL Log Shipping for customer database, not looking for commvault side replication from primary server to DR server. what is the method to backup tlog on primary server, will it effect the sql native log shipping. can we perform tlog backup also , wil it effect LSN chain since normal log shpping is happening from SQL server side when we perform T-log backup from commvaultIf we use Log Shipping for the DR server we have been told this will break Comvault’s ability to backup the transaction log.  Is this correct ?  IF so does this mean we can no longer do a restore to a point in time as Comvault does not have the transaction logs.  How does this work with online backups where surely the log are required ?  If this is the case then Log Shipping is NOT fit for purpose for DR

via Command Center it is not possible to restore a SQL-database “in place” to an availability group. Does anybody have a workflow or Powershell-Script that can remove the database from the availability group before the restore … and back to the availability group after the restore? Any help is very much appreciated. Best regards. Michael

Hello,I made several plans with two backup destination (primary and secondary).On these backup destination, the retention periode is 3months, but when i look to restore data, i see that i can restore data from beyond 3 months.Why ?The Data aging is runing daily, so i don’t understand the problem.Also, some plans respect the retention period and other no.

This is a Azure Blob StoragePool Copy.The Job “Dedup DB Reconstruction” starts and trigger the Filesystem Restore Job.However, the job immediately reports an error “There was nothing to Restore” The last backup also did not save any data and the restore job will certainly refer to this. Is it possible to select the second last backup job? Hi Commvault people,I am looking for some advice on a recent volume migration, and Commvault’s behaviour afterwards.So we basically upgraded a large fileserver. 60 TB of data across several volumes.The data on “Server 1” is already under dedupe.When we migrated the volumes to a “Server 2”, although we are obviously creating new subclients, and we have to kick-off new fulls, I was surprised to see these new backups writing large amounts of data.Previously, we were writing minimal amounts of data, literally a few GB’s, despite the volumes being around 15TB (very small rate of change).Given that dedupe is in play, and we already have the blocks of data held in the store, then why are we writing so many new blocks? To put this in context, we are writing maybe 30% of the application size, which is a few TB’s, compared to the previous few GB’s.Hopefully that makes sense. Basically, i am trying to work out why Co

Do we support Iron Cloud  Archive Storage = Secure Offline Storage (S0S)? How is the data recalled? BOL lists Iron Mountain under supported Cloud Storage, but doesn't have any detail on supported tiers, such as SoS.

Trying to grant our database team the ability to suspend, kill, or resume backup/restore jobs as they do a lot of weekend work and are constantly calling me for support. They are currently associated to the client admins role. I edited the role to include Job Management but the suspend, kill, resume are still greyed out for them.

The HyperScale nodes and the CommServe are separated by a firewall, the only way that we want to communicate is through proxys gateway.Is it possible to complete the hyperscale setup without a direct connection and using a network topology for cascade proxys ?We proceeded with ./registertocs.py as suggested on https://documentation.commvault.com/2023e/expert/unable_to_connect_to_commserve_server_behind_firewall_during_setup_01.html, but this failed with a timeout to CS.We also added: /etc/CommVaultRegistry/Galaxy/Instance001/HyperScale/.cvmanager.cfg:[Step_Control:ValidatePreInstall]validate_cs_setup=SKIP [Step_Control:Install]self.register_with_cs=SKIP Thank for you help.

Hey @all, I currently have the following problem, for which I could use help: Since 29 March, I can see in my daily backup report that certain shares of a file server (File Server Agent) have a dark green background and show the job status "committed". Although something is being backed up, the amount of data is very small and the backup is therefore incomplete. However, failed objects are not displayed. It is always only the same shares. Other shares on the same file server are backed up completely. A special feature here is that the file server is unfortunately also the MediaAgent.I get the following messages in the event details of the committed jobs:Error occurred in Disk Media, Path [\\x\x\x\CV_MAGNETIC\x] [Insufficient memory available to perform the current operation.]. For more help, please call your vendor's support hotline. In this case, the x only serves as a placeholder for the path to the backup target.

I’ve Found almost all the instance properties beside the one I need.Is there a way to fetch the activity control status ( backup / restore ) ?   Thanks

Hi all, I am in the process of designing an isolated HSX environment. If I share what I am thinking could people have a look and advise me where I could improve. Build my 3-node reference architecture cluster on 11.32 which same subnet as my CommServe & Proxy servers.Each node will have a bonded Active-Backup for Data Protection & Storage Pool . All nics with be connected to a pair of Dell 10GB switches, these switches will have a Data Protection & Storage Pool vLAN created.The Data Protection vLAN will then be connected to the Core Switch. Next, I build two Windows 2022 proxy servers that have FS & VSA agents.I will then configure CommVault network topology to only allow these two proxies talk to my HSX nodes. Finally on my Dell switch I will create an access list to only allow the IP addresses of my proxies talk to the HSX nodes. Any feedback would

10TB capacity license in useCurrently, 6.97TB (about 70%) is in use.I'm going to add another client to back it upThe backup capacity is estimated to be approximately 4TB.If so, do I need to buy more licenses?And is the capacity measurement method of the license application size or data written capacity?

Hi,  I have customized the default workflow ‘Demo_ServiceNowCreateIncident’ available in Commvault to create incidents in ServiceNow if we have failed backups in the environment. This worked fine for almost a year.The ServiceNow was integrated with AD and all users including the service account were accessing the ServiceNow using SSO. The user the workflow uses to Authenticates with ServiceNow every time the workflow triggers is an AD service account user. The AD user will login to ServiceNow using its credentials and OAuth token. But now that the Client enabled MFA on all their AD accounts due to Security policy, the workflow no longer works.  I tried to open a case with Support to request a workaround for this issue, and Support wants us to provide as much information as possible and what type of authentication can be used with ServiceNow. I don’t know what other authentication methods can be used to login to ServiceNow without triggering the MFA

we are failing to create 3 node Hyperscale 1.5.1 cluster (reference architecture ) the library was created but it’s offline with this error- Library status offline due to incomplete storage pool configuration. Please wait for other media agents to join this storage pool library configuration.the media agent for all 3 servers is ready.the version is 11.32.43 (commserve + the three Hyperscale nodes)  is it possible to fix the issue ? or we need to format and install again ?
