Constantly getting the error below on two HP UX boxes. CvFwd.Log582 0001 08/09 07:54:34 ######## ######## ERROR: cvfwd_get_refresh_socket(): Failed to bind refresh socket: Can't assign requested address  Job Error:Error Code: [19:1304]Description: Failed to connect to Communications Service to register the process. They were originally both older Clients 11 SP 6. Went to upgrade to SP30 and now jobs stopped running. Check readiness runs fine but get error above and Filesystem and Oracle jobs will not run. I have a One Way from Client to Commserve setup.

Hi Team,Just want check the configuration of Mailbox Backup. We have two media agent servers and the exchange version is 2016. Please advise the configuration of Mailbox backup jobs.Is it Outlook on those media agent servers and will use access nodes. And any disk limitation for Indexing (each media agent). - approx. 300 Mailboxes. Any license is needed for this backup from Commcell level (no archiving). Where will create the sub clients for mailbox jobs (either Exchange or media agents).

I have a question about the commvault commserve service account. Which group is required to create and use an account that is used by default as an account that is part of the administrators group, but is not part of the administrators group, but is used for the commvault service? Or do I need a local system account that belongs to the administrators group? -windows group list- 

I've seen several discussions regarding this topic. But I still don't get it. From the docs:Application Size: The size of the data that needs to be backed up from a client computer. Hi all  we have a metallic setup where we have decreased our VM usage but in the usage stats it still shows historic and current VM setups which has blown our usage out - it shows that we have 30 VM when we only have 8Is there any way we can correct this 

​I was testing a database restore (DB is in full recovery) and noticed that the PITR graph wasn’t showing continuity.I checked the server and we still had an old logshipping job which was grabbing the logs and backing up to disk before commvault could get them..  We currently use database mirroring which doesn’t have any jobs associated with it. I disabled the job and ran a full database backup from Commvault,  expecting that our default 15 minute log backups would start afterwards, but that doesn’t appear to be the case.  I’ve taken a manual log backup in Commvault, but it’s still not getting picked up by the regular schedule. Any thoughts on how to resolve this?  The default client run completed at 3:01 pm and backed up every log *except* this database, which I had to do manually. Thanks- Chris​

Hello, guys  I want to perform a secondary copy to tape, and be able to write the data to tow tapes at once, Same data must be written to tow different tapes that belong to two different pools (main pool and copy pool). The idea is to be able to have mirroed data on tapes that will be stored on different sites (customer policy). Data must be read once from primary store (source) and write at same time to diferent tapes.Customer has a library with 3 drives. Any idea?Regards.

Quick question: customer has an audit and is required to document the steps taken to secure the commcell. One thing is the media password. It can be set, it can be changed and you need of course to write it down… BUT: is there some way to report IF a media password is set or not (for the auditor). Would fit perfectly in the Security assessment tile in the CC.The only way I see is actually changing the password - if “enter old password” is left blank and new password is applied, you didn’t have one. Which is not a reportable solution.Thanks.

Hello, I am trying to investigate an issue going on in our environment where a stakeholder is asking us to audit our environment and what is being backed up. I am starting to look into their servers and notice on a couple of servers in the most recent full  and see several mount points are listed but some of the mount points show no data, this is what I was suspecting. However, some of the mount points are showing data and it appears that it was able to backup the data in this mount point. Looking into why Commvault was able to backup some mount points but not others?  Does it matter what type of protocol the storage array is  using  - CIFS or NFS to be able to be backed up? Thanks for any info or documentation you can provideCody

Hello, everyone!This post is mostly intended to provide a search result in the event someone comes across the same issue I did. If this type of post is not allowed please forgive me. While trying to perform a Live Mount for a VMware VM being backed up via a connected vCenter environment, the job was failing with error description “Live Mount is supported by VMware VMs only.” Naturally I was confused because the backed up VM was in-fact a VMware VM. Googling yielded no results, hence this post. The cause was rather simple: the job was just failing because an existing backup job was still running. Even though the VM itself was already finished being backed up, the parent job was still running on another VM. The solution was to just wait for the entire backup job to complete. I hope this helps keep someone from panicking in the future!

Hi,we use Virtual Server Agent and we backup with the default sublient our VMWARE VMs.Is it possible afterwards to carry out a second copy only for an explicit VM?Or is that only possible if I create a backup before and using a separate subclient ??RegardsDennis

Hi Team,We have 3 CommCells registered/uploading to cloud.commvault.com but would like to see only one (our prod) in Cloud Command as the other two are are used for test/dev and not relevant to us from reporting perspective (no one is worried about backup failures in dev but it affects the reported environment score). I’ve been asked to perform a test restore of a production virtual server.  Obviously we can’t have two servers with the same name and IP address running at the same time.  Does CommVault have any documentation on how to restore a virtual server (VMware in this case), then rename and re-IP the server so it can be started up?I’ve been a client for more than 10 years and still use the Java GUI so directions using that interface would be appreciated.Ken

Good day all I have a customer who is using Xtrabackup as the option to backup/recover MySQL DB’s. The source version is V8.0.29-21 and he’s restoring to a client with V8.0.33-25.In the restore process, we see an error that says that ‘there is nothing to restore - subclient(s) not backed up.The subclient is backed up, so was wondering if this is due to the different versions of MySQL in the job configuration?
