Hi everyone,We are currently deploying a Commvault environment to protect via VSA a great amount of VMs (almost 6000VMs)VSA proxies are Windows Server 2019 SE VMs that reside on the same cluster that VMs we would like to protect. So transport mode will be HOTADD.We are currently on test phase so as to obtain results and determine the number of VSAs Proxies that finally we will deploy.The environment is the following: Commvault version: v11.24.7 VCSA: VCenter 7.0u2 ESXi Version: 7.0uw VSA Proxies O.S: Windows Server 2019 SE VDDK version used on Backups: 7.0.1As per VMWare documentation says on VMWare 7.0u2 each PVSCSI card on the proxy VSA should be able to mount 64 vmdks of the Backed-up VMs.The issueis that we are monitoring during the backup and each proxy is just able to mount 15 disks via hotadd (stucked on the previous limitation of VSphere 6.5)We have added manually more than 20VMDK disk on the Virtual Machine so we understand that this is not a VMware issue. I would like having a workflow for backing up Postgresql databases and restore a subset to another Postgresql client and instance by using DumpBasedBackupSet.So I started editing a clone of the “Demo_FileSystemBackupRestore”-workflow.I was able to change the “Backup” and “Restore” task to Postgres in ‘dataAgent’ and giving the instances.What I wonder: the field “instance” is of type String - isn’t there a way to fill this field automatically with all the instances of a given client? For we have Postgresql-clusters with several instances running …But where I am definitely stuck is at selecting the database to restore, neither Backup nor Restore include a field for specifying subsets of backuped data.Any hint to put me on the right track is very welcomed.Markus

Need to Rename Client Hostname in Commserve console in bulk, around 1500 clients

We have a customer with a number of Oracle RAC instances. The backups are configured to a plan to run at 20:00 every night with Archive logs to run hourly.What we’ve noticed is that when the DB schedule starts, the Archive logs do at the same time. One of the two jobs on the same DB (DB backup/Archive log) will go into a waiting state. When one job finishes, the ‘waiting’ job won’t initiate. You need to suspend and resume it. It seems that something in that process (RMAN?) doesn’t seem to automatically initialise.There are a few things I’ve configured which have helped, but not totally solved the issue.I’ve enabled the option to ‘queue jobs if other conflicting jobs are active’ in the client’s Job Configuration tab.Is there anything else I can set to allow the jobs to not get stuck in this state and if they do, to auto restart?Thanks,Mauro

Hi colleaguesFor a server placed on VMware, I use snapshots with "File system and application consistent" enabled for backup. On this same server is installed MS SQL Server, and also iDataAgen Commvault (iDataAgent) for SQL backup.During VMware snapshot backup for this server, SQL Server reports to me that at the indicated moment of snapshot execution, 5 seconds later, an additional (in addition to the scheduler for MSSQL for iDataAgent) full database backup is run, which are is not included in scheduler for iDataAgent.I checked it and this full SQL backup coincides with the snapshot backup called from a separate scheduler with the options set as above. From the SQL side, it can be seen that the Commvault-syndicated backup for the SQL backup is called on the ‘Commvaut Galaxy Backup” user, and the full backup one connected to the snapshot, is executed on the “NT AUTHORITY/SYSTEM” user.Does anyone know why this is happening, and how to disable the execution of the additional full backup

We are considering how best to use the Network Proxy Appliance described in BOL https://documentation.commvault.com/v11/essential/102386_commvault_network_proxy_appliance.html You download a OVA from the store, deploy it, and set up a group, etc…  I understand all the logistics of setting it up.  What I don’t fully understand is why I would do this.   The Commvault Network Proxy Appliance enables communication between a backup network that contains Commvault resources such as the CommServe system and MediaAgents, and one or more isolated networks that include resources that are protected by Commvault. My backup systems (CS & MA) are in a network that is used by other things/systems.  Maybe I should move it to it’s own network to better protect it from attacks.  I am not sure about the “one or more isolated networks that include resources protected by Commvault”  I have many other networks with systems that are protected.  Has anyone used this Network Proxy Appliance?  Can someone g

Hi Commvault Community, Hope everyone is doing well. I had some questions regarding Commvault support for some Virtualization features, the documentation wasn’t helpful for me, unfortunately. Does Commvault support “Continuous Data Protection” mode on virtualization platforms ? If so, which vendors it supports. Does Commvault support instant recovery and power on restore (The VM is power on through backup jobs history and in the background, the VM is being restored).Please to share with me links to the documentation if there is any, your guidance is much appreciated. Regards.

HiMy backups seem to get to 70% then stop and sit in a pending state with the following message being displayed in the job controller.“i have confirmed that the media agent and the CommServe can communicate (have run CVPing and CVIPInfo both return success).have also tried searching on the Error Code 62:468 and get no results for that, at a bit of a loss as to what is going on?

Hi Team,I’m currently want to deploy a backup for Azure stack HCI vm backup. As per the documentation online, I can only see at the essential section where it need to configure using command center. When I looked at the expert section, there is no Azure stack HCI configuration. The way it deployed seems that the same as per normal HyperV backup, where I need to install VSA at all HCI node.My question is:Do the configuration only supported from command center and not from commcell console?  The HCI node is based on HyperV core setup, without a GUI, how can I install VSA inside the HCI node? Using command line from power shell? How to run setup.exe (the installer) from the power shell?Thanks and best regards,Fauzi

Hello,We are missing something. Running a simple full backup from RMAN command line, it kick a "(command line)" sublient job in the job controller. Ok so far…But the job once it completes, I cannot see it from the commcell console job history. What else should be customized to have it correctly registered in the commserve DB?Regards,Pedro

We are trying to use CommVault to backup an Oracle 19c Database straight to our hyperscale servers ( was backing to as separate SAN disk and then to hyperscale hope to reduce the extra step) backup is working, but a full backup gets all the white space on the data drive instead of only the used space and takes about 13 hrs to complete.   Currently we are thinking that the SBT switch in the RMAN is what is doing this to us.   Anyone else doing this?   The length of time to backup has the DBA’s worried.

Hi Community,With reference to the following post where there is no longer an option to select:https://community.commvault.com/topic/show?tid=5967&fid=49Is there a way to confirm which option is being selected for an Aux Copy Operation?  I would like to confirm because I would assume that when copying between 2 cloud libraries, Disk Read Optimized copy would be more efficient and cheaper in cost being that each block does not need to be read to generate the signature - or at least that's the way I read doco.  Would there be an entry in logs to determine this?Thanks in advance for the advice/assistance. 

If I change/modify current retention rules, what happen to the retention for the old jobs? is it stays the same or will be replaced by the new expiration dates?

Hello, Recently we had to make a configuration with:1x CommServe1x MediaAgent2x StoreOnce Catalyst MediaAgent and the 2 StoreOnce are Connected through Fiber. Backups to the first StoreOnce Catalyst works fine without any errors but when we initiate  Aux Copy from the First StoreOnce to the Second StoreOnce its say its fails due to Chunk errors. Any ideas about the Configuration we need to follow in order for the Aux Copy to succeed ? 

Log4J vulnerability Commvault based on Nessus scan finding.Unsupported file version:D:\Program Files\Commvault\ContentStore\WebConsole\WEB-INF\lib\log4j-over-slf4j-1.7.32.jar We have updated Commvault version to 11.28.68 and other unsupported files were updated/deleted but not this one. How can it be updated to newer/supported version?

We have a physical windows server 2012. we have to migrate from existing boot (C:\) disk to new disk. Please suggest which method is more feasible.1) 1-touch restore2) Install fresh windows 2012 in new disk, install Commvault agent and restore C:\ and systemstate from Commvault.Can someone help on this please?

Hi,I have an AWS Aurora PostgreSQL v13.7 instance with many Databases, I can only run backup at max 3 streams (i.e. 3 DBs at a time) irrespective of the subclient/Storage Policy/etc. number of streams settings. Is it a Commvault or AWS/postgres limit? Is it possible to increase it?Thanks

hello everyone.From the process manager you can see that all the services are active, only the CommVault Workflow Engine service has not started. I can't start it from the Process Manager and neither manually from Windows Services. I already checked the permissions, ports, connections and everything is fine.Do you have any idea?
