Hello, I have an error when trying to copy sessions from disk to tape, I get a message "does not need to be copied". I had previously copied this session to a tape and now I also need to copy it to a different tape.  

Hello everyone,I’m testing my recent upgrade from the V1 to V2 client for OneDrive backups.  My OneDrive is Ken.Hemmerling@apsc.ca\My Documents and I’m testing a restore of a Word doc from within a folder named DBA.  On the screen where I select the file to be restored, I also select Restore the data to another location and specify the DBA-Restored folder. What I’m want to see after the restore job finishes is:  DBA-Restored\Tom.docWhat I actually see is: DBA-Restored\Ken.Hemmerling@apsc.ca\My Documents\DBA\Tom.docIs there a way to tweak the configuration of CommVault so that when I say “restore file Tom.doc” that I actually get “Tom.doc” without the rest of the path?Ken

Hello Everyone, Our CV Index database increases very fast. When I check the Index Db folder I see the cvldxlogs folder. Can I delete this log folder (old dates)? Additionally, how can I do maintenance the index database? I should decrease the index database and log folder. 

When i create reference copy sub client for tier on prem to cloud , But it was copying the data , it’s not moving the data to on prem to cloud , How can we do Retention settings for Tiered cloud storage and how can we setup the settings for Retention.Please help me in that process

I have vm pack license and 1tb capacity license, am also taking file system level backup of some vms,but it is counted in capacity consumption, is it the expected behaviour,? In vm pack regardless of what kind of backup we are running this shouldnot count in capacity tb license right

I'm trying to wrap my head around the following. I'm setting up VM-level protection in a VMware environment and I'm using the VCD hypervisor because we want to deliver VM-level protection to our cloud customers. So I configured a vCenter hypervisor first and added the VCD hypervisor afterwards, which leverages the vCenter hypervisor. Right now there are 4 active clusters with a few others coming soon. I deployed access nodes on all clusters and they are all listed as access node. Our backup method should be hot-add, because we'll have to close down/limit connectivity between clusters because of security, so NBD will not be an option anymore. The "first" access node in the list acting as the communicator is able to communicate to all other access nodes via a network topology, no errors what so ever to be seen when it comes to the communication between the nodes.Now when setting the transport mode to hot-add all jobs so far failed with the error that the access node cannot mount the disk

This seemed simple enough when I started… ;) I’ve got a number of policies reflecting differing retention times (1 month retention for 1 month, 1 month each for 12 months, quarterly and a yearly). Dealing with disks, this is great, for the most part as the Dedupe never seems to grow tired of how much I torture it.  However, I’m finding that when I got to tape, we’re seeing jobs go to varying tape media.  One thing I’d like to hammer home, however, is that yearly backups are separate from anything else.  I don’t need something with a retain until being 2030 and something else on the same tape being 2023.  We have three tapes drives in our robot, I’d like to just spin one off and let it deal with the yearlies.  We have over 700 servers, so it’ll have more than enough use from the beginning of the year until around tax time. First - is there a better way to handle this?  I know there are methods with policy names, combining streams, and multiplexing, which, frankly, all seems like playing

Hello, During configuration of a hypervisor I had to create and delete it a few times. Using Commcell Console… suddenly, there was an Entry showing in Command Center that I could not manage/delete. We are currently in the process of going Tapeless with Commvault.  Our Commserve Disk Library is onsite and will be staying on site, the only part is we will be sending our Aux to Metallic Cloud Service, or whatever it is called now.  My question is can we run our Commcell from the cloud to connect to our Inhouse Media to do all our backups and Aux backups without having to go full Metallic and have hot storage?  Our Security officer is asking as an added layer of security incase a “bad actor” access our onsite system they would also have access to our commcell since its on site, if it was housed in the cloud we are slightly more secure.  Thank you for any info.  We have a meeting next week with commvault to further our services with them, but figured I would ask here so I don’t sound like a complete idiot in the meeting.

We have a possible unique issue where we need to use a UNC path for CIFs logs files which is shared from one of our media agents on prem. I have attached a 5TB iSCSI mount to a media agent and created a UNC share \\MA\Job_Results\CIFs_Job_Results\*access node host name” The UNC path is shared at the “Job_Results” folder as suggested in this article to share it two levels above the destination of the logs folder: https://documentation.commvault.com/2022e/expert/6592_using_unc_paths_for_job_results_directory.htmlI have created a local account on the MA with a unique username and password… Gone in to the advanced properties of the access node and mapped the following UNC path:\\*media agent hostname*\Job_Results\CIFs_Job_Results\*access node hostname*Then provided the local account previously created on the media agent, clicked ok, then ok again. The CAN (CIFs access node) properties dialog window hangs whilst it copies the local folder job results to the new UNC path local. Window closes

Hi All, maybe you have an idear :) We have 2 customers with very old installations i think. Actually we had the problem that we cant increase the number of streams in the storage policy. The number of streams on all mount pathes is max.  Do you have an idear ?

Hi Team, I’m experiencing High Q & I time for partitions and could see that SIDB engine is mapped to 1 storage policy(Only Primary copy we have) which is writing 2 backups daily(1 FS and 1 VM). Bue the Q & I time is fluctuating between 300 % to 400 %. Helloif I have Exchange or SQL onto a VMware VMs with RDM disks backed up with agent in-guest (Intellisnap backup) is it mandatory to have the LUNs visible in the guest OS? is it not possible by Commvault to manage the LUNs mapping throught the hypervisor that can see the LUNs ? the clients are registered in Commvault as VMs because we backup also the VMsIf I implement an Application Aware backup I will have the same requirement?RegardsFederico

Hi,i am having trouble reaching ma.commvault.com and ea.commvault.com.Both sites need a very long time to load and after a few minute i get following error for ma.commvault.com:and for ea.commvault.com:Doubled checked with my mobile. Does anybody else encounter these problems?
