Hi Commvault, We have configured backups for SAP HANA and when we re trying the backups we are getting below error.Error Code: [18:146] Description: SAP HANA Error [hdbsql execution Failed. /usr/sap/EHK/HDB00/exe/hdbsql -t -U BACKUPSYS -d SYSTEMDB -C "backup data for ERK using backint ('1857225_COMPLETE_DATA_BACKUP') TOOLOPTION 'BACKUP -j 1857225 -a 2:3053 -t 1 -jt 1857225:4:1:0:0:30326 -data -at 135 -d bppwcvt02.ad.fujitsu.mazdaeur.com*bppwcvt02*8400 -vm Instance001 -cn bdvlecdb01'"* 447: backup could not be completed: [110122] A data backup cannot be created because another data backup is running or a storage snapshot has been prepared. Hey everyone, we were wondering how clientside deduplication and compression is working on Azures “Storage Accounts”. It doesn’t seem like it’s using our Mediaagent but which resource is it using then? Is there somehow of an “invisible” virtual maschine which runs a “Storage Account” in Azure and does the deduplication etc.? Best regards

 I am planning to migrate a lot of data from NAS1 to NAS2 (CIFS) and I am curious about the way to utilize gMSA accounts instead of standard username/password pair. For all scheduled tasks I am running on Windows Servers, I am trying to move to MSA, and for any services that vendors do support, I move to MSA also. I did not find a way to utilize gMSA in Commvault because it requires a username/password to create an account. The support team recommended talking to our CV representative which does not make any sense. Did anybody think about using MSA for CIFS shares backups?Or, another idea is to create a group of CV Media Agents and then manage CIFS shares access per this group. Ideas?

Hi,I’m wondering how Commvault detects cluster disks in a Windows Failover Cluster. We’re running into an issue where Commvault doesn’t seem to see the cluster disks when executing a filesystem backup. When we manually select the cluster disks in the subclient content of the default subclient, it works fine. But using / in the subclient content causes issues.Has anyone else had this issue before? 

Hi,  I could not find anywhere that adressed this, so asking here. I read that the only way to “migrate data” between storage classes would be as documented. However, can this be done? I have a Hyperscale as a Primary Copy I have an existing AWS S3 Standard bucket as a Dash Copy with Deduplication.  I want to create another Dash Copy to an AWS S3-IA Bucket with Deduplication.  I want to promote that copy to be the secondary copy and get rid of the existing bucket. Effectively, this seems like migrating the data just as good as going through the process described with the Cloud Tool.  Am I wrong? Can this be done?  

Hello Community I wonder if anyone in the Community can guide me here.  We are going to do away with our current DASH copies to our DR site and instead create a new copy on each Storage Policy to go to MRR instead.  However I was hoping someone could answer a couple of questions on this Is the first copy that goes to MRR a full copy even though its going to be DASH copies   going up to this storage area? Our network team have asked me what the initial backup size will be so they can calculate the time the first job will take if it has to a full.  I have looked at reporting, but what report do I run to see what the full backup (if it is this) size will be on one Storage Policy?  Its only the DASH copies which will be going up to MRR.Any help on the above would be greatly appreciated. Kind regardsTonyQ

Hello everyone,My network admin has asked me to throttle aux copies between on-prem CommVault and Metallic cloud storage during core business hours (7:00 AM to 5:00 PM).  I’ve looked at https://documentation.commvault.com/11.24/expert/7486_enabling_and_configuring_network_bandwidth_throttling_for_clients_or_client_groups.html which talks about throttling between clients but the problem is that Metallic cloud storage doesn’t appear as a separate client within CommVault.  Instead, it is simply attached as a second library to the nodes of my Hyperscale media agent - the same as local disk storage.The instructions in the link ab

I have recently expanded our NetApp E-Series array with 48 more 12TB drives (it previously had 24 drives of 4TB each).  In the past we were told to carve out a large DDP (Dynamic Disk Pool) for all of the storage we had present, then carve out 4 or 6 TB LUNs, create NTFS volumes on our Windows Server MAs with a 64K Allocation Unit Size, and set those as our Mount Paths.  I read the following thread which makes me feel like that is certainly overkill and unnecessary:   I would like to and/or have questions about the following steps: Create a DDP using all of the space available (392 TB after RAID-DP and spares are taken into account).  I’ve created similar sized pools on other NetApps for different workflows without issue in the past so I see no problems here.   Created a single Volume using up al

Hello,I am performing a file restore of a Linux guest operating system from a VMware virtual machine backup. It seems to me that the file recovery rate is quite slow. 363 GB recovered in 3 hours and 27 minutes. Is this normal?

Hi Team,in my environment, i have backup SAN & NAS for remote site using IntelliSnap.This is totally different country where using different network ISP.The Snap backup will come to secondary storage first(AUX Copy) before backup to Commvault Storage(Backup Copy).Another site, we run normal SAN backup(without IntelliSnap), where the plant just away about 5km(Direct backup to Commvault Storage).For SAN we using IntelliSnap. My Question:1. Can we skip the secondary storage for Aux copy and direct backup to Commvault Storage? (with / without IntelliSnap) for remote site? What are the disadvantages? Do we call the VM backup without IntelliSnap is VSA backup? As per my understanding, the normal VM backup will wait for each snap to finish backup and remove at last. it may take longer time for remote site and impact the Real Time backup. Hi, We are in the process of decommissioning our Commvault Server e.g. firstly P2V it, then, power the VM off and leave it somewhere. Giving that, in the future, the only occasion we might need to power on the VM is to check its configuration setting, therefore, am I to say that we do not need to P2V its storage disk pools which are shown as MagLib in the below screenshot ? Thanks,Kelvin

Hi Everyone, we need to create a lot of VM Groups in Commvault with different Plans and Rules (eg “Tag eq XX AND Tag eq YY”). This could be done by REST-API we noticed. But we also need to give this new VM Group a Security permissions with different Group and Role. We did not find a scripting way to get this done adding the security permissions for a vm group. Has someone a hint or idea where to look or has someone a “one or two liner” for this problem? Many thanks. Steffen

I have couple of questions related to VM UUID we have huge amounts of VM backups, we were cross-checking whether UUID is getting matched on both commvault and vmware end. some of the UUID Are same but some are different, Same UUID VM are not restored VM’s so not sure why this diffrence is happening Is it possible to pull the report using API or something which shows the VM details with UUID from commvault end ? 

HiWe have created a plan for a VADP VMware backup.We want to run the Vcenter backup during the day, and do not want to created a new plan just for the Vcenter backup. We created a subclient voor the Vcenter servers and added a different schedule using the Java console. I have added the new schedule to the Subclient holding the Vcenter servers.This works fine but I cannot remove the Predefined Server Plan Schedule that comes with plan.Any ideas?

Hi all, In Documentation: https://documentation.commvault.com/2022e/expert/17098_configuring_consistency_checks_for_exchange_database_backups.html The following line is written: “If any errors are detected, they are fixed before the database is backed up.”. This has striggered the Exchange administrator at one of our customers. He would like to know what/how this “fix” takes place. What can i tell him? Is it a specific Exchange instruction that gets called or something? Thanks!

Hi all, An Exchange Administrator has read in Microsoft Windows Server backup documentation (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/exchange/high-availability/disaster-recovery/restore-with-windows-server-backup?view=exchserver-2019) that restoring a single database in-place to a volume which hosts multiple databases is not possible. Instead, all databases on the volume will be restored. Now I have told him that with Commvault, it actually is possible to recover a single database in-place to a volume which hosts multiple databases and only the selected database is recovered. Was I correct in saying that? I’m pretty convinced I am. :-) If possible, I would like to be able to tell the customer what we do differently to make this possi

after setting up the policy to backup active directory, i am getting index errors when it try to do a full backup or any backup of the active directory, all my other backups are working fine such as the file backups and vcenter backups.
