I have a linux server that creates a daily folder for each month and year, an example of the path structure would be: 2020/Dec/12020/Dec/22020/Dec/3…2020/Dec/312021/Jan/12021/Jan/2… 2021/Nov/302021/Dec/12021/Dec/2… and so on At the beginning of each month  I only want to backup the pervious month. So in early Dec 2021 I want to backup 2021/Nov/*  Can anyone advise on how to do this??   

Hi, Exchange Online detects ~2500 mailboxes in the Exchange Office 365 app. The customer shows me a screenshot indicating he has only 1250 Microsoft 365 E3 licenses assigned. What causes this mismatch, is there a problem, are more Commvault user licenses necessary? Thanks.

I’m doing a cross machine restore of the SYSTEMDB database to our HANA DR server using backups from tapes, however it get’s stuck to 6%. Couldn’t find any errors or failure in the job log to help me in the troubleshooting. I’m atttaching the log file here. Any suggestions/recommendations? 

I’am migration a server from Windows to Linux, and have a lot of files that needs to be moved. And will use the live sync replication for this.https://documentation.commvault.com/11.24/expert/92967_configuring_replication_for_file_system_agents_01.html Each time we try to replicate a file dir from Windows to Linux, all the files is getting skipped.I can’t find any documentation that this feature is not supported? can anyone confirm/deny this?If I do it the other way, from Linux to Windows, it works fine.  

Snapshot size being reported as Zero bytes: Should I be concerned??We usually monitor job and work on failures; however; I was investing a partial sucess warning on a server and happened to notice this zero byte snapshot for all the servers for this customer; I understand for a powered off VM this could be true however it appears to be a bit weird that the backup size has changed from one backup to another however the snapshot size is still zero. shall I be concerned and investigate it further? It seem to be happening to any VM which is hosted on VSAN storage for this customer normal datastore appear to be showing the correct snapshot size

Hi, At first, thank you for taking the time to read this query.Currently we are facing a challenge where we want to rehydrate our exchange archive, which is located in Exchange Online.We have a bunch of users, and not all data has been stubbed by a long shot.So ideally we want to initiate a full restore of all mail items to rehydrate the archive, but we want to only overwrite the stubs, not the still present emails, because that would be a huge waste of time and resources. I have attempted to save the restore as a script, as such making a ‘restore only if stub’ parameter available, but this does not seem to have the desired effect anymore, still all mails got restored. Is there any such way to achieve this in CV currently? A way to only overwrite an email if it is a stub to avoid unneeded restores for items that already exist? Thank you in advance.-WR

Hello Commvault Community! Do you have access to information whether CommServe in FR 11.24 will be able to be hosted on the new OS - Windows Server 2022 LTS? I do several 10-20TB synthetic full jobs each week which are then aux copied off to tape on a global tape copy policy with a single stream (one LTO drive) with multiplexing enabled.I noticed that under the advanced settings on the synthetic full job the “Use Multiple Streams” option is NOT selected.What I think this means is that each 10-20TB synthetic full backup gets written to disk as a single stream which means it gets aux copied to tape as a single stream.If so am I right in thinking I want to enable this setting so the synthetic full jobs get written as multiple streams as this means they’ll get aux copied as multiple streams?I’m going to be moving the DDB to a new NVMe volume which seems a good time to review things.We’re on 11.20.73.Thanks in advance.

Hi, We have a customer who wants an official statement that SQL2012 Enterprise is licensed as it came along with Commvault in the past.I can find the statement for the Standard edition How does Commvault handle the SQL Standard License during the CommServe Installation? but in the past SQL2012 was also covered.Is there still a way to have this statement. We will inform the customer that SQL2012 is support for an half year so in the next 6 months it might be smart to update. Best regards,Danny

Hi All, I  ran an oracle incremental backup for a database but this backup has been converted to full backup I am asking why this happened , however this database has a previous and valid full backup .

I am trying to install Commserver agent on a Centos for backing up MySql from Tools/Add-Remove software. It is asking for selecting an UNIX group while choosing Unix as computer operating system. I don’t know how to create or manage any existing Unix group. Can anyone please help? I objective is to back up MySql on a Centos. Anyone can share the step by step process? Hello,We have few laptop client which we wish to backup using Commvault endpoint protection. There is firewall between CV infra servers and laptop network and ports 8400 & 8403 are opened on the firewall. One way network topology has been configured with data forced to tunnel option but it is still using dynamic ports to send the traffic to CommCell components. There is no network gateway between them as it is a tiny setup.   Regards,Jaspreet

HI Team, i have gfs2 file system cluster nodes and looking for an backup type of gluster fs or gpfs - but neither of them are able to backup gfs2 type. Glusterfs - skips the gfs2 file system stating “skipping it as its a gluster subclient”, GPFS type- doesn't even identify the content, mean there is “no gpfs content found “is the log says.. wondering any possible way without normal FS agent backup to backup gfs2 fs Appreciate your help.. Thanks..!

Hi Team, We are in the process of evaluating our recent Aux Copy performance to our DR site as we are scoping for future capacity and bandwidth requirements. It would be very useful if there was a suitable report to show me the rate of throughput and the amount of data copied in a summary format, similar to what you see when running Job reports and aligning by Storage Policy (as opposed to client). Surprisingly, I can’t see a summary of the Aux Copy results in any reports.Although the Aux Copy entry in the report shows the data copied, and the overall throughput it is only for each Aux Copy job. You can see below in this example, where we have a few days worth of Aux Copies:-  What I really need is a report with a summary line at the top of all data copied and the overall throughput figure.At the moment, I need to export into CV and then reorganize the fields so I can add things up manually.There is one other report which might also be of use, which is the Jobs in Storage Policy Copies

Hello community,I am testing a CLI (qoperation) restore script to restore a random file from clientA to clientB, but it is not working.  The script is getting the following error on the qoperation cmd for the restore XML file:Out of place restore. User [{clientB}_localadmin__] must have [Out-of-Place Recover] capability for the source and [In Place Recover] capability at the destination.Anyone have any idea why I’d get this message?The script is being executed on clientB, but I also get same error running it directly on clientA, the host where the source file lives. To create the restore script, I used the java console to select clientA/subclient and a specific backup date, then selected a sample file to restore and filled in the restore dialog as a re-directed restore to clientB - then saved the restore script (save-as-script).  I can certainly restore the file if I were to just let the restore run directly from the restore dialog, but for some reason the save-as script is not able to

Hello,I want to use Commvault to backup 10 laptops.The files used are :Vidéo : .MOV, MP4, .RAW, .BRAW, AVCHD, BOO, DOO, TBL,  Editing files:  .FCP ou .SRT Audio : .MP3, WAVE, AACCould I use the deduplication and compression on these files? If i want to restore  an email of exchange online, i cannot see any emails. If i use the java console there is no problem, I can resore a single email from a user. Anyone seen this before? User rights? 

Hello!Our auditors use reports from Commvault to verify incidents in our incident system. Mainly they have been using PDF reports.As of late we discovered some discrapancies in the reports. First it seems the number of pages created for a pdf differs even though the time frame is the same. We also discovered some naming and columns was changed in the reports. I think that both can be explained by that one: the PDF creator program might render the pages diffrently, Second: the naming and column change problaby was due to service pack upgrade.I also discoverd that the number of protected object wasnt consistent in one of the reports, I had run it 3 times for verification. All other counters seems to be accurate. How can this be? The reports should be the same if all selection criteria are the same?Anyone else experienced this? Headings of the reports below.BR Henke    

Hello guys,Currently I’m backing up VMs in a Nutanix environment, and for this Plans for each VM was created for a better control and because we are using Commvault as MSP.I verified that the backups are running as expected, but I noticed that some of the backups Plans that I configured to make specific folders and directories from Windows Server instead of backup what I selected in the Plan and associated to the VM it is making a complete and incremental backup of the VM.So, I just want to see if this is a okay behavior or is something limited of the Nutanix hypervisor? Thanks,
