Horizontal scaling QueryIf a DDB is marked full because a certain threshold is met, a new DDB is scaled out.The newly scaled out DDB will be use only by new subclients.  So am I right in the assumption that the DDB which was marked full will still be use by the existing subclients and the existing subclients will potentially continue to add more primary records in the DDB.  Thereby potentially increasing QI time on the DDB as more primary blocks are added?

Hi, We are adding a mount path to an existing disk library on a linux media agent  that has the ransomware protection enabled. It looks like it is not beeing automatically associated with the selinux commvault context “cvstorage” the other volume is. We did te activation procedure again after adding the volume with no success. The fstab is not updated and the ‘mount | grep “^/” show that the initial volume is mounted with context “context=system_u:object_r:cvstorage_t:s0” and the newly added volume “seclabel”.Is there a specific pocedure for enabling the ransomware protection on a newly added volume? 

Hi, We are facing a strange behaviour with our auxcopy process. All week when we copy some incremental backups we are achieving pretty good throughputs but when it comes to weekly Synthetic fulls, for the same amount of data, the troughtputs are 10 times slower.We plan on migrating our VSA to indexing V2 hoping it could help.Any other ideas are welcome.Thx in advance

I have tried searching, but with search terms I keep getting looped back to topics covering snapshot backups and filters.If a VM has an agent installed, (therefore not taking VM/Snapshot backups) but is powered off in VMWare….is there a way to have it skip backing up the machine (or do something else like fail earlier, throw an alert, or something else you might suggest)? The issue is we have alot of machines where we are just not told to stop backing them up from the team that owns them, and just don’t want to reach out every time we see a job stuck in pending because it can’t be reached.  Trying to free up resources to research actual problems, and not mask actual connection issues.  We don’t want to manually disable machines that might be powered off for some temporary issue.I understand snapshot backups can filter by powered off, but these are machines that have reasons to have an agent installed and can’t utilize snapshots.running commserve v11.32.38Thanks!

I’m having problems finishing the guide since I’m not able to proceed. Hi Everyone. currently we use snmp to send alerts from Commvault to ServiceNow. This Creates Alerts in ServiceNow and the Operations team manually create Incidents from the alerts. I would like to change this and I believe Commvault has the ability to auto create the incidents in ServiceNow. I’ve had a little search but has anyone done this and if so do we need to install any software on the ServiceNow side. Any advice would be welcomed. Thanks in advance,

Hello, We currently use a Physical Tape Library (PTL) for secondary copies with long-term retention with a single generation of tape drives: LTO-7. Our plan is to upgrade the PTL and install LTO-9 or LTO-10 drives alongside the current LTO-7 ones. The main reason is the amount of tapes in long-term retention that would be very costly to copy over to LTO-9/10. Since neither LTO-9, nor LTO-10 is compatible with LTO-7, we would need to keep some LTO-7 drives to read from LTO-7 media alongside the new drives. Is Commvault capable to recognize the LTO generation and use the compatible drives and if not, would it be possible to configure this manually so that the correct drive is used for the tape operations? We run v11.32. Thank you,Zoltan

Hello all,In a recent maintenance update, Commvault fixed the Catalog and Merge functions, but we are still experiencing issues with the Restore functionality. There is no option to restore a VM to a Hyper-V standalone host using VSA. It asks for a proxy (presumably for VMware), and there is no option for Hyper-V.Commvault support has not been forthcoming. They claim that Hyper-V is supported, but we don’t see how.  When we ask for instructions, they just ask for logs — which they already have. Has anyone else tried to catalog and merge a tape and restore VMs in a Hyper-V environment?

Hello,we have many vCloud Hypervisor in our environment.We have one Master Org Hypervisor and all other vCloud Hypervisor are created with “Create Org Account” then it is referenced to the master.For some reason, I dont know why, 3 of our vCloud Hypervisors lost the reference to the Master Org Hypervisor and backup was not running anymore.I found no way to reconnect the vCloud Hypervisors to the Org Master. Workaround solution was to create Hypervisor new with other name and during creation you can connect to Master. So my question is, is there a possibility to recreate the connection to the Org Master vCloud for existing vCloud Hypervisor. So I only found it when you create a new one. Editing is for this not possible. Via API I did not found anything which is working.Thanks & BRMarcel

Good morning,I’m facing the same problem as it was resolved in I know this issue in production environment, where a commserve was not turned on for a long time, protecting against false dataaging. The solution to have a GUI Process manager opened and entering the string (I acknowledge and so on) is not available on my DEV-Env where I only use a UnixCommserver with the bash.I tried to get the parameter within the commandline process manager commvault -all (and e.g. - I acknowledge and so on)but unfortunately it is not available.Did anyone have this problem as well?Best regards

Hello Commvault Community,I recently installed Commvault in a test environment and am encountering an issue with administrative tasks.I currently have only one profile available, which is the default admin account, and I do not have any other accounts. However, when attempting to delete clients, libraries, or storage policies, I receive a message stating that the request has been sent via email and will be processed once approved.I have verified that my admin user account is configured as an administrator and has the appropriate roles and privileges. I would appreciate any guidance or solutions you could provide to help resolve this issue.Thank you in advance for your assistance.   

Good day I would like to ask if there are any concerns with the proposed solution we’re looking into.I have a very small environment that is moving from TSM to Commvault. Due to its size, the Commserve and Media Agent will be installed on the same server.I need to import TSM (IBM Spectrum Protect) backup data into Commvault. I need to create a staging server to handle this task.I don’t want to install the TSM agent on the Commserve/Media Agent server. Would there be any concerns with installing the MS Hyper-V component on the Commserve/Media Server and hosting 2 x VM’s to run the migration? One VM will be Windows for Windows Data and the other Linux for the Linux Data. Once all the data has been migrated into Commvault, the two VM’s will be decommissioned.We are a little short on hardware resources, hence this idea. Thanks,Mauro

I am looking to configure Syslog Forwarding for Audit Trail and Alerts and was wondering what alerts are going to be forwarded, as there doesn’t seem to be a specific Alert Notification Type for Syslog. On the assumption that all Alerts are forwarded, is there an existing CMR to provide granular control?
