Hi, I am getting the following alert from my HSX cluster. cvfs data redistribution pending Any ideas on what could be causing this ?Regards
If you enable horizontal scaling for a DDB. This is straight-forward for primary copy. Once it reaches a certain threshold it will scale to a new DDBand new subclients will use the new DDB. Now for aux copy/secondary synchronous copy ( we dont have subclients to associate here ), how does it work? What happens to the previous DDB and to the newly scaled DDB? Does aux copy continue on the new DDB automatically and leave the old DDB for copied jobs already? Anyone who can explain in simplistic term?
I am currently exploring the option to use the workflow “Moving Clients from a Full Deduplication Database to a New Deduplication Database”I wanted to ask if I have to use this one, does thisReduce the primary record/unique blocks from the DDB I am moving away from? Follow up to question 1, does the primary record/unique blocks increase on the DDB I am moving to? is there going to be a re baselining happening? Do we need to do anything extra like run a full backup on the clients we are moving to new DDB once the workflow has successfully migrated the client to new DDB?Any other caveats or information on what is suppose to happen
I have completed the Commvault certified professional course with 82%, but I haven’t received the certificate yet. Can someone please help me get the course completion certificate?"
How to Limit user access on Archived Message, for example on old outlook add-In with content store i was able to enable offline mode and cache only last 3 months. now this add-In deprecated for new outlook version. is there a way to control what user can see on his outlook, while if he wants to figure out all archived messages i can direct him to use web console. Thanks,
Dear Commvault Team,I hope this message finds you well.I am writing to confirm the expiration date of my Commvault exam. In my account, it states that my exam expires on 14/06/2025.Could you please confirm whether this date is inclusive, meaning I can still take the exam until the end of the day on June 14, 2025?Thank you in advance for your assistance.Best regards.
We have a plan to perform BW Development system refresh with production data, but production system is having data from 10 years which is unnecessary to have in development system. So here is my question,Is there any way to restrict the data of only 2 years from production to development during restore? Do you know about the tool SAP TDMS(Test Data Migration Server) used for required data transformation? in combination with commvault maybe someone have an idear ?
Hello,I have a couple of questions regarding Commvault Cloud’s API. I have learned through this forum that to authenticate successfully with Commvault Cloud (CC) API, that I have to give the Base-64 encoded password and add the MFA Pin number. Which works great with local accounts. However, with our accounts that are authenticated through Okta (SAML), how is that done? I am trying to add a Tag to a long list of VMs, and the API mentions an EntityID. When I use the API call to "https://api.metallic.io/V4/VirtualMachines" it gives me a lot of great info but no EntityID. I tried calling "https://api.metallic.io/V4/VirtualMachines/$vmUUID" to see if that would give an EntityID, but I don’t see an EntityID in the results. Where can I locate the EntityID? Thank you!
It looks like the version on libcurl.dll in the base commvault path needs to be upgraded in general:/opt/commvault/commvault/Base64/VMware/vddk/VDDK602/lib64/libcurl.Has anyone done this yet? Or will an upgrade of CV resolve the issue?
According to the sizing grids:https://documentation.commvault.com/11.20/hardware_specifications_for_deduplication_mode.html I might need two media agents per site for my storage load. This provides for up to 1000 TB storage and, assuming just the 1st column - 1 DDB location per node. So two DDB locations. From what I’ve read: Using Windows NTFS (simply, no other M$ features at the moment), we cannot share the mount paths (SAN...) as NTFS isn’t built that way. Thus, we can’t load balance between the two of them. All we would have is a failover ability, correct? The DDB location - we would have one DDB on each node? One DDB on the first node, with a location (or, “path”) for MA#1 and one path for MA#2? If so, MA#2 would NEVER get used as we can’t load balance because, as it states in #1, the second MA can never be used except in failover. Thus, the second DDB is never trained on data and thus has no DDB, meaning the Storage explodes in size while DDB Location 2 is trained? I can’
Hi Vaulters,I have 1200+ filesystem servers where daily filesystem backup is scheduled. Is there a ways to delete the files from the client machine automatically once the backup is completed (Only successful files).? I am trying new ways in automation and am stuck here. Can you guys help me out? Regards,Murtaza
We see that the Group Policy Object (GPO) backup feature is enabled by default on Active Directory clients. We would appreciate an explanation as to why this decision was made, particularly given that the feature appears to require an additional license for full functionality. The automatic activation of this feature has led to complications:Some environments are now reporting backup jobs as “Completed with errors” due to attempts to back up GPOs without meeting the necessary prerequisites. In cases where the customer does not wish to back up GPOs, there is no straightforward option to disable this functionality. Instead, we need to add an “Additional Setting” in the Properties. If the customer does wish to use GPO backup, they must ensure that the service account has the appropriate permissions, modify registry settings to support long paths, or create specific folders. Should the customer later require a GPO restore, it appears that an additional license is necessary. This requirement
Dear Team, We have recently built a Commvault infrastructure with the following configuration: CommServe: Virtual machine running Windows Server 2025 Media Agent: Physical server with locally attached disks, running Oracle Linux 8.8 Mount Paths Configuration for DDB and Disk Library: /dev/mapper/ol-opt_commvault_dbb xfs 600G 22G 579G 4% /opt/commvault/dbb /dev/mapper/ol-data_commvault_disklib xfs 11T 4.9T 6.2T 44% /data/commvault/disklib We would like to know how to enable immutability (WORM) on the disk library, mount path, or at the storage policy level. Additionally, we have enabled ransomware protection, but it still shows as disabled in the Media Agent properties. Below is the current SELinux status of the Media Agent server:[root@MediaAgent64]# sestatus SELinux status: enabled SELinuxfs mount: /sys/fs/selinux SELinux root directory: /etc/selinux Loaded policy name: targeted Current mode: enforcing Mode from config file: enforcing Policy MLS status: enabled Policy deny_unknown
Good morning!##########################Environment details:CommVault server: Win 2022 STDVersion: 11.36.35 ##########################I have a small problem creating the plan on the command center. The plan automatically adds a synthetic backup; I do not have an option to remove it. The Backup target is StoreOnce, which does deduplication and compression. synthetic will add more load on the Storage hence want to remove it. pls help.
Hi all,we are trying to figure out, which way to implement a NetApp Snapshot-based backup with a SVM in a DR-Relationship. To be more specific:Production: SVM1 on ClusterADR: SVM1-DR on ClusterBBackup: SVM1-BCK on ClusterCCommvault will trigger Primary Snapshots on SVM1 and replicates those Snapshots to SVM1-BCK. In the event of a disaster, SVM1-DR gets manually acitivated.Question:Can we use tunneling for SVM1 and in case of a disaster Commvault will automatically connect to SVM1-DR on ClusterB (same as with MetroCluster configurations and the “DR partner” parameter → https://documentation.commvault.com/11.40/expert/configuring_dr_partner_for_metrocluster_configuration.html)? Or do we need to connect to the SVM directly to be able to perform Primary Snapshot Backups on the DR-SVM?RegardsMario
Hello we are currently on commvault version 11.32.106 in windows environment and i noticed we just got a HIGH Vulnerability on the mongoDB version Plugin Output: Installed version : 6.0.19 Fixed version : 6.0.20 Does anyone know if the mongoDB vulnerability will get addressed in a future maintenance release for 11.32?? or can I upgrade the mongoDB manually ? Please advise. ThanksBC
Just sharing in case someone is having the same issue. You are not alone! LolSymptom: NetApp backups stuck in "SCAN" phase after upgrade to 11.40Thousands of Logs on proxy: Reparse point added to folder list, ReparsePoint=[\\CYR-A001\c$\CYRA001_E] Reparse point added to folder list, ReparsePoint=[\\CYR-A001\c$\CYRA001_E] Reparse point added to folder list, ReparsePoint=[\\CYR-A001\c$\CYRA001_E] Reparse point added to folder list, ReparsePoint=[\\CYR-A001\c$\CYRA001_E]Yes, I know C$ is not recommended, but it worked fine for 10 years before this upgrade.Took me multiple weeks to even acknowledge there is an issue! Still no resolution from support but meh.Workaround: Recreating the subclient (162 subclients, fun times!) Root cause as per support: Top-level content processing was enabled by default in SP38 to prevent synthetic full job failures due to empty backups. However, this change introduced an issue during upgrades when the Subclient content path itself is m
Hi Team,Could you please help me with a sql query which i can use to get a list of all the jobs present in a particular/specific copy of a Storage Policy. Request you to help me with this at the earliest.
Hello,Commvault certs and courses are not available at the Readiverse platform after it transitioned from old Learning Advantage portal. So, I didn’t get any hearing from any of these e-mails: enablement-help@commvault.com, supportportal_admin@commvault.com, registrar@commvault.com. Who should I contact to make certs and courses available again?
Hello Commvault community, In one of our customer environments, we currently have a small setup with a dedicated CommServe (CS) and a separate MediaAgent (MA) handling Office 365 backups. We now have a request to "merge" the CommServe role into the existing MediaAgent system, effectively combining both roles on a single machine.I'm aware that it's generally not recommended to run the CommServe and MediaAgent roles on the same system, as per Commvault best practices, due to potential performance and scalability issues. However, is there any supported way to make this happen, especially in a small environment? Is this scenario technically possible, and if so, what steps or considerations should we follow? I would greatly appreciate your feedback, experiences, or any references to documentation that could help.Thank you in advance!Nikos
HI ALL,I was trying to restore a windows server to Azure using the virtualize me. I have taken block level backup for source physical windows server. When I initiated the restore, i get below error. I don’t get any option to define disk size at destination. Below are the option that I have selected while initiating the Virtualize me : Any suggestion from anyone on what I’m missing !!
Hi!As Server 2016 will go out of support anyways within the next year, I consider proceeding the upgrade before, as 2019+ support larger cluster sizes than 64 kb which should drastrically improve file system defragmentation and by that HDD performance. The “wasted” should be less of a deal, as Commvault saves data in big chunks of 1+ GB anyways. I assume that Commvault does not have trouble with the cluster size (the storage part in documentation is generally pretty “thin” regarding file systems, best practices etc.).Sidenode: You should definitely add, that partitions/drives above 64 (actually more 63.5) TiB can’t be snapshotted with VSS, nor can chkdsk do anything on those. But the main question: Is there any problems to in-place upgrade Windows Server 2016 to 2025?It would be big pain to migrate all that data (we have one machine running all services/functions) to a new (pricy!) server as long as the hardware is still supported/maintained. I’ve read and old thread that recommended do
Hello,We received the other day the following notification from Azure about .NET 6, which concern our Azure VMs:.NET 6 will be removed from Windows Server 2022 Marketplace media on 13 May 2025I assume that after a simple Commvault FR upgrade to 11.36 or higher, the problem ceases to exist, without any manual / additional actions in Azure VM, right? Please for your feedback.Best regards,Nikos

Hi together,I would like to use REST API calls inside a workflow. Unfortunately, I do only find the opposite information in the documentation (how to use workflows with REST API). Can someone give me a starting point for this topic?Best regards.Michael
