Dear all,we want to backup an existing snapshot of a NetApp volume. The snapshot is created outside Commvault. The NetApp SVM is configured and the NFS share client is enabled. We create a subclient and added the content like this:<vServer_name>:/<share_name>/.snapshot/<snapshot_name>This works fine for subclients we configured before we update to version 11.23.17. Hello All, I am trying to setup an integration between Azurestack and Commvault but even after following the URLs below and Azure powershell was installed it keeps on giving the error as below :Add hypervisor failed. I have the following situation:1 or more Hyper-V clusters (MA + VSA installed on every node)1 domain service account configured on the Hyper-V instance (Client)1 media agent server (fysical) not domain joined (with MA, VSA, CommandDevice and Raidmanager installed)1 Hitachi VSP F700 storage Array with IntelliSnap integration on subclient. First, the primary snap is doing great.Second after the snapshot the backup copy must start and mount the snapshot (proxy redirected in the subclient) to the same media agent.When the discovery starts CommVault tries to login on the media agent server and fails:“Set pending cause (unable to connect to virtual machine host (mediaagent server) as user (domain\user) Please ensure that the access node is able to communicate with the host and the user en pw is correct :: client (mediaagentserver)” Now, if I join the mediaagent server to the AD domain the backup copy works, the snapshot is mounted on the mediaagent server and the data is read from the snapsh

Hi @jgeorges, thanks a lot for the detailed post:It is awesome but I have one question: Do part of any of your recommendations work in scenarios where the backup is done just by protecting the Exchange Databases in a DAG setup? I’m trying to find information about performance improvement but the backup is not done with the mailbox agent. Moreover, we are about to change another backup software for Commvault, they have severe performance problems (copying just the databases) and I try to avoid getting into a trap.So, I need 2 things:1), understand how to improve speed2) Define some sets of measurements or tests so the evaluation of our solution is fair and we don’t get tangled in other’s problems (I see lots of info in your post about Microsoft produced best practices that I will study). Thanks!JP

Hi Vaulters.I have a potential customer that will need to back up 10k Office 365 accounts to Azure. They want all the infra (CS, MA, Access and Index nodes) running on Azure. Are there different sizing parameters for the infra servers if these will be all Azure VMs?Thank you in advance!

Hi, We are currently in the process of making the Commvault environment more usable for customers. The administration of the individual systems in Commvault is to be managed via Active Directory. We include the AD groups in Commvault and create in Client Computer Groups per AD group a group with the name of the AD group. All systems from the VSA data backup pools are linked into the group. The main portal for the clients will be the WebUI. Now I have linked a VM from the VSA subclient to the group of an AD for this project and it looks like it could work. But currently I can only restore the last backup of a VM. For backups a few days ago, the "Restore" button is grayed out.Has anyone here already made experiences or perhaps a better suggestion, how this could be better implemented?RegardsThomas

Hello, I need to remove the Sealed DDB Partition in the commvault.This DDB isn´t in use, the last write in 2015, just for a test.someone has a procedure to remove?and i have another DDB partition in the same DDB, and is recording.i need just remove this DDB Partition because the sever will be turn off.

Hi, do I have an option to Import media from catalogic app? I have a customer that migrated to commvault from catalogic and he wants to know if he can import the catalogic tapes to commvault library.he has tapes with the last backup from catalogic.I think he will have to maintain his old backup system, but I’m don’t 100% sure.

Hi,Our Teams backup often completes with one or more errors. Investigation showed that these errors concerns other items then Files, Posts and Wikis, in other words items that are not supported for backup. Is there a possibility to mark a Teams job just as “Completed”, if only items are not backed up that are not supported for backup?Thanks!

Hi,a customer of us has reported some strange behaviour. A user forwarded an archived mail using the Outlook Plugin. The email was cut off in the middle of the text. Inside the text, there was “<20%”. Everything after “<20%” was removed. After changing the “<20%” to “< 20%” (added a space after the “<”), the whole text was included. Is this a known issue?  Regards Holger

What is confusing about this topic is that Commvault seem to be sending mixed messages regarding the topic of extended retention.From v10, the recommendation was to use separate selective storage policy copies (and therefore separate DDBs) for jobs with longer retention to avoid issues with the DDB size and performance. This was where that warning message in the Commvault Admin Console originated. This however leads to a massive increase in the amount of back-end storage consumed as you have a seperate baseline for each storage policy copy you create.However in recent documention, when describing how to configure Plans from the Commvault Command Center, the documentation specifically states that one should use extended retention rules to create a hierarchical retention scheme (e.g to retain month-end backup jobs for longer. see https://documentation.commvault.com/11.23/essential/131386_extended_retention_rules.htmlSeeing as this contradicts the message from the Admin Console does this

Hi,I have a customer request where I have some trouble finding a solution. He would like to receive an alert via email as soon as a backup job is deleted (not the data on the clients itself, but the already backed up content) e.g. if an employee is going to leave and would like to harm the company or similar scenario. Is something like this possible without using any third party product? Regards Holger

Hi there, is it safe to limit the number of streams to be used in parallel for System Created DDB Verification schedule policy? I am asking because in our case this verification policy consumes 30 streams out of 30 streams. However, there is set up use maximum number of streams, why is 30 limit then?Secondly, I would like to discuss Data Verification Options. Which option do you use preferably? Would it be enough to use only Verification of Deduplication Database instead of Verification of existing jobs on disk and deduplication database?  

Hello, IHAC who has a NetApp eseries as their disk library. When MA1 writing to a lun fails, the lun needs to be mounted on another MA2 to restore the backups. What is a standard procedure in Commvault that could be used to open the same mount path from a different media agent. From the Commcell GUI one can only create a new mount path. The goal is to be able to restore the data protected to this LUN from a different MA.
