Hi all, I’m trying to follow this process Maintenance Advantage Customer Support Portal - Articles - Article Details (commvault.com) to install the v9 SP10a software on a Win2K SP4 server. in a V11 CommCell. Additional setting bIgnoreCommServeVersion has been added to the registry of this client and the v9 SP10a DVD mounted on the server.After running Setup, I get as far as setting the CS and client name and specify comms is through a proxy. Error message is presented as below.  I was able to dig out some logging after manually creating C:\Program Files\Commvault\Simpana. Hi, I've been reading about VSA V2 and VM centric operations.Our environment has gone through many upgrades from v9 to v11.20 which we're running now. Subsequently our VM clients will be using indexing v1How to we upgrade to VSA V2? I can't find any steps you actually do it. Thanks

Hi, I have a customer with 2 copies :1-Primary dedup on disk with 66 jobs.2-Secondary dedup on disk with 133 jobs He created a copy 3 to replace the secondary but he chose #1 for the source, but there are jobs only in the secondary copy, is there a way to pick the missing jobs by changing the source of copies #3 for source = #2 ? If I change it and run and Aux Copy the missing jobs are not picked ? Or I have to delete the copy #3 and start over !?

Hi,Until recently, ~1 TB of data was stored on all our LTO4 tapes.I recently changed 2 things:I created a Global Secondary Copy Policy I enabled software encryption for the (secondary) backups to tape (Re-encrypt, BlowFish, Key length 128, No Access)Now, only ~750 GB of data is stored on all tapes before they are marked full. A decrease of 25%.Is one of these two changes a known, proven and expectedcause for this decreased usage of the tapes?Thanks!

We have multiple Hyperscale \ ScaleProtect implementations some with six bricks in the cluster. It is very tedious to right click, check the box, say ok every time you need to do an OS upgrade (soon to be monthly) or some other maintenance that requires the cluster to be in maintenance mode. Does anyone have a script or a workflow they can share?

Hello,There still seem to be more problems :-(Next time I launched an aux copy for two more tapes of the same Storage policy.It reached 98% and Pending status. no error at allHe took the same tape as in the previous process.I killed the process.…I have delete content of new LTO7 tape because, process aux copy not finished to 100%Now, I run auxilliary copy with Backup period in which there are backups for four tapes, but Job is completed and “no more data copied”Whether it is possible to run Aux copy  from same tapes LTO4 twice to a new different LTO7 tape???   

I’m running 11.22.19 and have our CS and MA in UK on local time zone (GMT/BST) and a VSA proxy VM in New York on its local time zone (EST). Our backup plan’s schedules have “client time zone” set. However, the New York VM backups are starting at the same time as the UK, not what I’m expecting. The VSA proxy also has a file system backup configured and that runs at the expected local time.Which part of the chain is dictating the time zone for the proxy client?There is, on the properties sheet, an override time zone option which shows “time zone: not available”. I will try setting this to the New York time zone, however the time zone should really be picked up from the VSA proxy and this setting used to override that if required.

Hi there,I would like to discuss the following situation:I want to disable backup activity on the client, however I want to keep aging of associate data as usual. Is there any workaround for it? It is possible to release lincence and deconfigure client, then data aging goes well... However, my question is:It is possible to keep data aging on the client that is only disabled from the backup activity?Thanks for your responses!

During the backup I have issue: /opt/PostgreSQL/8.3/bin/pg_dump: unrecognized option `--lock-wait-timeout=60000'Commvault  11.20.46Postgres SQL 8.3 I know that the new version of Comvault no longer supports this version of the databases I have a question, is it possible to modify the pg_dump command in Commvault? (to omit an unrecognizable option) Alternatively, how can the following problem?

Hello guys. I’m looking for some advice/tips on how best to configure additional selective copies in a storage policy and ensure they are deduplicated to avoid rewriting the same blocks on cloud storage. The Primary Copy is deduped and goes to Library 1. I want Weekly and Monthly copies to go on Library 2 and 3 respectively with each copy disabled. I noticed I can’t use the Global Deduplication Policy being used by the Primary Copy on the additional copies. Anyone has some thoughts on how to tackle this? I’m not a fan of using Extended Retention on the Primary Copy as and set Weekly and Monthly retention on one media/point of failure. 

We have both Azure and Hyper-V VMs.  The majority are backed up by the VSA agent in the Hypervisor, and have no installed agents.  However some have Windows File System, SQL Agent or Virtual Server agents installed.For all those last, if I look at the client Properties there is a row that shows:Client PropertiesFor any VM with no agents, that row just is not there.  I never found a VM where it says ‘Virtual’.  I should say that for a real physical server (which of course has to have an agent) it looks just like the above also.What worries me most about this is that this may consume Operating Instance licences.  We have Commvault Complete and I can see we are using all our OI licences but a fraction of our Virtual OI licences.  But for example when we added a SQL*Server Availability Group across a pai

What’s the best practices for determining the number of proxies needed for both ESX and AHV?  Is it as simple as adding one proxy per ESX host or VCenter cluster?  Or is it more about adding proxies based on the protected FET?  I’m trying to develop a scale-out strategy so that we can easily predict what our proxy count will need to be as the environment grows, but I’m having difficulty finding a general rule for this.
