Hi,i have used the article to convert VSA/MA as FREL for vmware. in the documentation i don’t understand the need of creating a XFS mount for the FBR cache folder.there is a difference on the performance when the FBR cache is in ext4 instead of XFS ?regards,

So another question.Regarding scheduling backups.  So our environment which is mostly windows servers and a few linux servers and 1 MsSQL.   Is following an accurate assumption:If I want to create a new client group, example - “Windows Server Agents” and then associate all of our Windows servers to this group this approach seems much cleaner way to create bkup policy then creating a seperate backup schedule for each windows server individually.  What is recommened?  Also if I was to create this group client Windows server bkup schedule I notice it doesnt let me chosse what drives I want to backup and the system state option.   I only see these options if I set up a backup schedule for an idividual client as there is a “content” tab where I can select aLL local drives or browse etc..and then there is also a check box for the “system State”   Does the client group bkup schedule automatically bkup all local drives -  C:\ drive and if there happens to be a D:\ it will back that up as well

Hi all,we are deploying a new MSP Environment for backing up O365 Applications.To have the Access Nodes and Infrastructure Settings hidden for customers we have deployed the Infrastructure Pool App Workflow from Store and using an UNC Share for Shared job results path.Commcell is running 11.22 and Exchange Online and SharePoint are working fine so far.OneDrive is giving me some question marks. The OneDrive App is not able to discover Users, always saying “Users and groups are being discovered in the background. Hi Guys, The Customer is having a problem. Some of VMs show the following error: Found a multi-segment swap partition on virtual machine [vm_name]. Ensure that a new full backup has been run on this VM.   An error appears even if Full backup job is being run.Backup ends with status “Completed’ As I can see there is an article referring to this error.http://kb.commvault.com/VMW0030However, the article refers to Service Pack 7, 8, or 9. The Customer is running FR20. I’d like to know your opinion, guys.Do you think that the Customer can ignore this error?Do you think backups that ends with this error and have a status ‘Completed’ are completely fine and the Customer will be able to use them to restore VMs in the future? Rgds,Kamil

Hi,If we encrypt our backup data by using hardware (tape drive) encryption, I wonder Is the encryption dependent on the tape drives which perform the hardware encryption ? If the tape drives fail, will encrypted backup jobs become un-restorable from any replacement tape drives ? Will there be an encryption key needed for this type of encryption ? Who will manage the encryption key ? Commvault or tape drives or the tape library ? Is the key needed for restore each jobs from an encrypted backup job from the tapes ?Thanks,

Can anyone advise the recommended way to install a MR on Hyperscale cluster please?Remote installation from Comcell 1 node at a time or can all the nodes in cluster be selected in a single job? Does maintenance mode need to be used etc?Thanks in advance 

This question has come up many times, so posting about it here.Microsoft does not charge for ingress or egress with Office 365, all data transfers are covered under their per user licenses. Azure only comes into play when doing restores to SharePoint Online, assuming the client is running every thing on-prem (which most don't but for the sake of this part of the blog post let's assume that). The data being restored is written to an Azure storage account, then the SPO Migration API is called, which only supports putting data from Azure. After the restore is done the data in Azure is deleted. There is no ingress charge for data into Azure, but there is egress and storage charges.Now if a customer is running Commvault in Azure to backup O365, to backup\ingest the data there are no charges. But if they are restoring data to Office 365, on-premises, or outside of their Azure tenant then there might be egress charges. Recently updated credentials password and now getting intermittent backup job failures.  Failure reason: error code 91:139 Unable to connect to virtual machine host. Cannot complete login due to an incorrect user name or password.] Source: sdcvcsa01, Process: vsdiscovery ; I have verified the AD password and validated it again across the virtual machine credentials. Also, verified that m y AD password is not changing or account being locked out anywhere else.

Hello everyone, hopefully wanting to get some recommendations and possibly help. We are currently shopping to replace our HP LTO6 SAS Tape Libraries. We are looking at the Quantum i3’s to support LTO8. First off let me explain our setup2 Media Agents 4 Tape Libraries (HP LTO6) - 2 of them directly connected 6GB SAS to 1 media Agent and the other 2 drives directly connected 6GB SAS to the other media agentWe are looking at the i3 but would want both media agents to be able to utilize the same drives from the unit. We know how we currently have it setup and 2 drives belong to one media agent and the other 2 to the other. So some quick questions:Any recommendations on other brands we should look at?  Anyone recommend the quantum tape drives? What would the setup of this look like from a SAS to Media Agent setup look like? Hi all, we have the situation that we must backup hyper- cluster enviroment and some vms have vhds disks attached.  As we know vms with vhds disks attached are not allowed to backup.  We create 2 Subclients: 1 → Manually selection of all vms with vhdx discs only2 → Manaully selection of vms with system disc ( vhdx ) and exclude of vhds discs Now we have the problem that new created vms are not backup automaticcly. When we create an 3 subclient with the content of all unproteced vms it could be that new created vms with vhds are backuped and we went into trouble.  My 2 Questions: 1 do you know any filter possibility for rthe vhds disks ?2 Is it possible to create an report for this cluster that reports all vms wich are not backuped or included in the 2 subclients ?  regards Sebastian

Hi Community,For those who use our ContentStore Mailbox (SMTP Journal Solution) with M365, please note that we are seeing a spike in support incidents being raised due to either mail not being received or cleanup jobs not actually processing any mail. In each instance so far, we have determined that the reason for this is due to the SMTP access nodes still having TLS 1.0 and 1.1 enabled (these protocols were flagged for deprecation by MSFT a few years ago however official rollout appears to be happening now).As per this article: https://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/v11_sp20/article?p=28943.htm we recommend that TLS 1.2 be enabled and these legacy protocols be disabled in order for the agent to work correctly. You will need to ensure that your environment supports TLS 1.2 / apply the necessary MSFT updates in your environment to achieve this.You can validate if this problem is impacting you by viewing the Exchange Send Connector logs (default location: %ExchangeInstallPath%Tran

Hi, For some environments, we use a VM based backup.For restoring purposes, we have restore agents installed on the vms, so that individual files can be restored.Works fine. Now the ‘problem’: when you use the command center, you can go to protection → file servers.Because we only use the agent as restore again (no backup license active), you can see the machines over there. BUT…on that page, they all show are “red - missed” sla….panic...Is there a way to “map” those machines to the vm , so that user doesn’t panic. Of course, not sure if you experience the same.

Team,We are using windows servers as Backup media agents , I want to decommission one of the media agent “x”  which is part of 3 libraries and dedupe storage policies. I have disbaled the mount paths on all 3 libraries associated with media agent “x”  , view content shows that there is no data present on the mount path . When I try to delete the mount path associated with media agent ‘x’ faces below error -Mount path is used by a Deduplication database.The data on this mount path used by the deduplication DB could be referenced by other backup jobs. The mount path can be deleted only when all associated storage policies/copies with deduplication enabled are deleted. See Deduplication DBs tab on the property dialog of this mount path to view the list of DDBs and storage policies/copies. if I unshare the mount paths associated with media agent ‘x’ with other mouth paths of the same library and remove media agent ‘x’ from data paths tab in dedupe storage policy , the restore jobs starts f
