Hello everyone,In our backup environment, we have a CommServe and a Media Agent. We are currently using two policies:Policy A: Basic retention of 35 days. Policy B: Basic retention of 35 days, with extended retention: Monthly for 365 days and Yearly for 15 months.Backup Targets:Primary: Data Domain Secondary: Auxiliary copy to Azure Blob (combined storage tier Cool /Archive ).Since our data is on the Archive tier, restores are taking hours to rehydrate and restore. Therefore, we have decided to disable the combined storage tier and use container default (Cool).We plan to change the storage class to Cool and retain only basic retention backups in the Cool tier. We want to move any extended retention data to the Archive tier. Is this possible using Azure Blob Storage lifecycle management? Additionally, once the data is moved to the Archive tier based on the lifecycle policy, will it impact the auxiliary copy? We use Deduplication with DASH enabled.Thank you for your insights!

Dear Commvault experts! Could you please explain the differences between backing up NDMP NetApp volumes/shares and backing up NetApp storage snapshots?I ask because there are two different types of users involved: An NDMP user responsible for managing the NDMP connection. A separate user under array management responsible for snapshot creation. Additionally, NDMP storage snapshot backups can function even when NDMP NetApp share backups fail. Could you clarify why that is? Your explanation would be greatly appreciated!

Customer is on 11.32 and is having a problem with Job Results folder filling up on backups. They’re VMware Primary backup is done in the field to a local MA/access node. Backup is VM backups, mounting snapshot, backup, release snap, auxcopy later. VM in question is 8.5TB and erroring out over the weekend when no restores are being done. Synth full Saturday, Incr Sunday… error out with filled up Job Results.They’ve filled the job results folder up twice now, once at 100GB and now at 300GB, and don’t want to keep chasing this issue.Customer would like to know behavior of the job results folder usage in order to properly size remote locations for backups. When does it release space? Question for Job Results (it keeps filling up even at 300GB) - do we need space for:a. files (as explained with a massively complex formula) and VM space (2% of VM size)b. just VM space And then how can we minimize the space requirements?Thanks.Steve F

Good day i hope you are welli am struggling in terms of re-adding windows file system backups on commserv.the steps i took is re-installing the content store on a rebuilt server and setting up the configs for file server and point to commserv gateway. when running the final install to register, it said that it will register ;later with the gateway server due to the fact that it is in maintenance mode. i also did create the windows client on Comserv under client computers and when clicking on reconfigure, i dont think it linked properly with the content store from the rebuilt server.please help

Hi,I had a request to produce a quarterly report that will list all types of exclusions that have been put in place in Commvault.    Currently on 11.32.89I have been looking at the reports on the Commvault cloud, Custom reports, rest API.  This seems like a nearly impossible task to do.What we are looking for is :Excluded VMs and VM disks Excluded files and folders for File System Agent, for each clients/subclientsDoes anyone know how we could accomplish this ?Thanks

Hi,I’d like to Retire a Media Agent hosting a global dedup database on which my primary copies are pointing ,to keep only my secondary copies hosted on another MA for archival purposes.Looking at the documentation I found that I can seal a ddb using an xml script but its mentioning the parameters -storagePolicyName 'xxxxx' and -copyName 'xxxxx'. What in my case where I have a global dedup db with multiple copies linked to it?https://documentation.commvault.com/v11/expert/retiring_deduplication_database.htmlThx in advance for your answers. 

Hi! I had been using the release license API and it used to work, until today. Goed Day, I am trying to set up Intellisnap backup for the HNAS client, what is the best practices set up for, and do i need to add HNAS LUNS to the access node??  I am using CV 11.32( wil be upgrading to 36 in 2 weeks)HNAS 15.3 ( Hitachi)

 i have the below recovery group created , backup and associated aux copy are completing successfully .when i set copy for replication to automatic it shows sla met and in sync the moment i change it from automatic to secondary is show  

Seems friday our backups stopped working for file and sql. I show cvd.exe faulting in application logs on all of the serves for the agent. I strongly think this was from some update or upgrade from Commvault. All agents in portal show “Not ready”. On each box I can see the metallic communication service going off and on every few minutes. Something changed and its for everything. No support on weekends so things just aren’t backing up. Need any help if possible.  I have restarted our on prem media gateway - no changeI have restarted a few of the SQL servers - no changedont see anything changed in Firewall. no denies etcI can reach Media agents from clientsAny ideas?  Version is 11.38.15 on all agents and media agent. 

Hello I need to provide an isolated/test environment (with IP masquerading etc.) to perform set-of-VMs restores on regular basis (like Veeam SureBackup) For Command Center I can use Auto-Recovery feature with “Test Failover” option but as far as I can see we can only use Live Mount (https://documentation.commvault.com/11.38/essential/testing_failover_for_periodic_replication_group.html)How to perform such isolated & automated test with regular streaming restores instead of Live Mounts? Production/source VMs should remain online and untouched during the test. I am aware that I can achieve something like this with old-fashioned Virtual Lab managed by deprecated CommCell Console https://documentation.commvault.com/11.38/expert/creating_restore_as_lab_policy_for_vmware.html, but I want to follow brand new Command Center ;) Any thoughts or findings will be appreciated. Kind regards,eMF   

Hi Commvault-UsersI’m looking for a good way to find all client computers with subclients which have the setting “Retain jobs indefinitely” in the retention tab.As we have around 500 client computers with multiple subclients checking all the subclients manually is not a good solution.Any Ideas?The following screenshot shows the setting marked in red of the subclient: RegardsJan

Hi,We’re running 11.32.73.The Tomcat version used have at least two vulnerabilities, CVE-2024-52316 and CVE-2024-38286.When checking the windows service it says it’s version 10.1.8. When checking the catalina.jar file it shows version 10.1.19.Still we need to get past 10.1.30 to fix CVE-2024-52316 which have the status Critical.When do you plan to update the Tomcat version?

So we started migrating vms from vmware cluster 1 with nutanix storage  to pure cluster 2 with purestorage, about 1000 vms: we have intellisnap on both. The diffrnece is we have 50 datastore in nutanix vs 10 on pure, we have configured the job one subclient per lun, the proxies were in nutanix platform but I migrated few to pure, although the controller proxy still in Nutanix, however we seem to be having issues during the first phase when cv proxy requests a vmware snapshot of the vms..it was working all fine however as per the patching process we keep the snapshot on some vms overnight.  My understanding was as long as the networking among proxies does not change atleast the first phase should go smoothly without any load issue irrespective of where the proxies are located either in nutanix or pure cluster...it appears the request to create a vmware snapshot taking too long..we are using the same set of proxies...

We have a standard patching process wherein we take a snapshot and leave the server running and then the snapshots are committed the next day just as a fail safe ; from what I understand this process should not be used to patch Commvault windows proxies as could have issues during the backup copy process (we use intellisnap; like hot-add)

Hello Is it possible to disable the email users receive when failing to enter the 6 digit two-factor authentication code? To clarify when a user enters their login info they need to enter the 6 digit code after their password. Failing to do so will send an email to the user with a one time login code that is viable for 30minutes.I would like to disable this email being sent when failing to enter the authentication code upon login.Is this possible?
