Hello Team,I am new to commvault so need your help in understanding the restore steps for MS SQL database in AG.My requirement is to restore one of the production DB which is in AG to its UAT environment. The UAT database is also in AG. we will be overwriting the existing database on UAT while performing restore. Please suggest what will be the steps.

Im planning to upgrade our Commserver from Commvault v11.32 to v11.36.  I was reading the document and it says since v11.36 comes with SQL 2022 you need to manually uninstall the SQL ( which technically means uninstall everything including the Commvault modules etc ) and reinstall . Is there a more seamless and supported way on doing this?  Seems like Commvault has drop the ball in this process. Use to be able to keep existing version etc.

How can I restore a SQL database without using a .bak file? When I attempt to restore the database to disk or to an out-of-place location, the restore process generates a .bak file. I'm not sure how to restore the database as a regular database file with its associated transaction logs. Documentation hasn't provided any clear guidance. Can anyone help? Thanks!

Hi,We’re about to start upgrading the agents on the client servers and I’m curious how others are handling this activity. It looks like you can add that to a server group but I’m not sure if it’ll work or not? We have metallic Saas license for endpoint, we are trying to push agent using silent method with authcode. it has completed for one laptop.but we dont want the laptop user to pause or start on demand backup.can the user do on demand backup or pause the backup or restore the data without username and password.no owner for the laptop as of now. does the user has access to pause or run on demand backup or restore the backup using edge monitor app.

Whie Doing the folder level restore to same machine getting below error, But Drive has a enough space. here is not enough space on the disk. Like Commvault, Exagrid has Point intime recovery itself. But i dont know how it work when using Commvault + Exagrid. In Exagrid I recover data at a time but when go to Commvault, all data showed is not change anything

Backup type is for a VMware hypervisor. We created a plan that requires a weekly recovery point with extended retention in which it auto generated an SF schedule for every thursday at 02:18AM. The VM group was set to trigger its daily incremental everyday at 12:30AM in the same plan.We recently accidentally (no failures in the VM parent jobs) noticed that more than 10 out of the 30 VMs for the VM group had the last synthetic full of 12th December and then realized that even though the parent SF VM backup job was being triggered, the VMs were being automatically excluded or not triggering the corresponding child VM backup job as its incremental was still running at 02:18AM. We raised a case with support and we were informed that child VM jobs not being triggered due to an existing incremental running and with no errors shown in the parent VM backup job is not a bug and by design. I would just like to ask the forum if you guys are aware of this behaviour and if you can point us to the do

Hi all,I have a really weird problem:Our customer noticed, that by end of November 2020 (28th / 29th), the scheduled jobs for the VSA backups (VMware) did stop working. There are no failed jobs, but only a gap in the backup history.When a job is started manually via the schedule policy ("run immediately"), the message "Failed to run task. No associations exist." appears. Starting the jobs manually via the subclient works on the other hand. The backup activity is not disabled on any level (Client, Agent, Backup Set, subclient, client group… ).Jobs for other clients associated to the same schedule policies work fine. But all scheduled jobs for all subclients of the affected client do not start by schedule.All jobs that are scheduled are Synthetic fulls with the option to first start an incremental before synthetic full enabled.If I start an incremental job manually, the next scheduled job starts. But only once. Also, I can use “Run immediately” once when I started an incremental before. 

hi, i have a customer, which have a 470 mailboxes, but the licecnce is for 445. Now im running on the trial one, i need to swithc to production one. So i selected some mailboxes and click to exclude from backup for 20 mailboxes - but when i trying add the licence i still have 470 mailboxes. any advice ? 

Hi,I’m working on a new design which will consists of several ROBOs and 1 DC which will act as DRC for branch offices. Each ROBO should have local MediaAgent with primary copy and replicate to DRC as secondary copies. In this design I would like to Protect customer data against Ransomware using WORM Lock on Disk libraries.This will require DDB Sealing and periodic Full Jobs to be transferred to target DRC site which can be a lengthy process consuming a lot of resources. Hi Commvault Community,I’m having an issue restoring backups from a previously licensed machine. Here’s what happened: I removed the license from my client. Then I formatted the machine. I reinstalled the OS but assigned a different hostname. I installed the Commvault agent again. In the CommCell Console, the system now shows up as a new client, even though it's the same physical machine. My goal is to restore data that was backed up before the format. However, I’m unable to access the previous backups from the new client.As a workaround: I created a virtual machine that replicates the original configuration of the machine before the license was removed — same hostname, OS version, install path, etc. Still, I’m unable to access or restore the previous backup data, even from the VM. Hello Community!I would like to ask you guys if maybe someone have similar issue with Exchange DAG restores as we have in one of the environment.The case is not a fresh one, i had a ticket for around a year in commvault - but they did not find the solution. At the end they recommended (we suggested it and they agreed) to enable “Perform Consistency Check” on the exchange backup schedules. We did it few weeks ago, and now we tried to test restores, but we still see the same issues at the end of the restore process.The issue is not easy to troubleshoot, because databases are big (around 1TB each) and restore process is failing at the very end. Dear ExpertsWe are trying to Restore Db2 Database to different Server ( Restore to Disk ), Media Read Performance is very low and Opened case with Commvault 250310-318. Dear team,We have one Disk library Configured as shared between 2 MA servers. disk Lib total Capacity reached to 1.3 PB and no issues in Backup Operations, we are getting good throughput. But Facing some slowness issues in DDB Verification is there any Limitations to add more space to same library ? any best practices here ??    

Hi all, I am trying to automate our Commvault platform, and have been using the cvpysdk package a bit - however, I am missing some information.First of all, are there any release notes available for the different versions/releases of the package? I can not find anything really in pypi or in github.Secondly, I can also see that the releases are versioned as 11.32, 11.34, 11.36, 11.38, is this directly correlating to what version of Commvault software you are using or what release should one use? Is it possible to use 11.38 on a 11.32 platform or should I be expecting operational difficulties?Lastly, what python versions are supported?Thank you in advance,Daniel

I Open command center and go to reports, then Backup Summary. I modify the default to only show the critical servers I want to check each morning. I save it as a view then go to schedule and create  job schedule to run daily. That works great, but if I decide to modify anything in the existing view, it seems like I have to delete everything and start over. Is there a way to modify a view? In the commcell job scheduler the edit is grayed out on the scheduled job I have created. It just is frustrating to have to start from scratch every time I want to add a server change anything
