Hellofor a new Commserve installation is better to join the AD domain or leave the server in a workgroup?for example if the entire AD domain became unavailable is still possible to manage backups and restores?Does anyone have an experiance regarding the two different implementation?Regards 

CommCell ID is set to expire.Can you please help me with the below points.Let us know the process, how to extend the Commvault License ? We have 200 VM license so will those 200 VM license will auto renew or do we need to purchase it again ? We have vendor support so after extension of Commvault License will vendor support is there or not ? What are the pre-requisite and post-requisite before applying Commvault license and after applying Commvault license ? Is there any downtime required for extending Commvault License ? If I miss any point related to Commvault license then please add that point.

I’m in the process of configuring and enforcing SAML authentication for a customer, they have 5 CommCell's. I’ve only configured SAML on a single CommCell before, but is it feasible to use a Single App for multiple CommCell's and just add multiple values in the SAML configuration such as:An Entitty ID for each WebConsole URL Reply URL’s for each WebconsoleI also believe that we would need to have the same user groups with access to all CommServes. Any thoughts on if this is possible or has been done?

Hello Team,It is necessary to back up only the directory structure on the Linux operating system, regardless of the depth of their nesting.The copy is to exclude all files in the directory and subdirectories.What should be the correct exclude filter notation for this case?Several attempts were made as directed in the manufacturer's documentation.The exclude item uses the /**/*.* filter, which excludes only files with extensions, but does not exclude files without extensions.The /**/* type filter excludes all subdirectories and files inside the indicated content.I would like to get it using commvault software, not third party solutions.Is it possible to exclude a file without extentions? Regards,Piotr Grzegorek

Hello,There used to be an option to change a Client computer Client name via the Commcell console.Currentlly ( version 11.28.24) there is an option to change ony the Display name or hostanme of a client.Is there any way to to have this option available again from the Commcell console ? Thanks

Hi, We are migrating our commvault server to new hardware. We will be maintaining the current hostname and ip address of the existing server to the new server. The existing server has 3 network interfaces; 1 management lan, 1 remote management and 1 production. Current license is tied to the management lan IP address. The new server has only 2 interfaces; 1 production and 1 remote management. My question is do I need to request for a new license or I can use the existing like what is mentioned in the procedure?

Hello, To prevent access to the CommServe DB in single user mode we might want to enable the SQL option AUTO_UPDATE_STATISTICS_ASYNC .Now the big issue/question is will this break anything in Commvault, as we are running CommSeve LiveSync and in BOL I cannot find any reference to this setting. Anyone have any experience with this setting?  BR,Luís Constantino

I have a Unix server that has a failing post script, and I can’t even look at the script since it’s in the DB folder which is excluded from the FS backups. Is there any changes I can make to the script to make it show up when I review the logs for the job? I know this is a long shot but it would be cool if It can be done.

In-case there is a data verification job running for longer period of days ( more than a week) - will it has any impact on the daily data pruning job for the storage policies  that are associated with that particular DDB engine ?As per the data pruning logic to make a job eligible for pruning  --Data aging operation job needs to run for the jobs which are already completed its retention- only then it will be eligible/marked for aging. On the other hand data verification/DDB verification job validates all the associated jobs on the DDB. So if when a DDB verification job is  running, will it create any lock on the jobs( assume some of them already complete retention days ) so until this complete - data aging job will not be able to marked these for pruning ? Which one has the priority over another one ?

Hello guys. I was using the Commcell Console normally without problems, from one day to the next, without any change, an error started to be displayed "Commserve Connection is lost, Do you wnat to reconnect?".  Clicking on "yes", the user and password are asked again, and after inserting it, the same error is displayed, and the console no longer logs in. I followed the steps in this documentation, “https://kb.commvault.com/article/54133” which says it is a certificate problem related to the "CVSession.dll" file, but looking at the certificate, the certificate is installed correctly and is not expired. What should I do in this case?

Hi, We’re shortly rolling out OneDrive for Business in Prod and I am looking for the possibility to filter contents in Commvault so that only certain data gets backed up:exclude files / file types exclude folders only backup certain foldersI will need to deploy OneDrive backup at the time of the roll-out of the service. We are currently running 11.20 but I was told at the Webinar for 11.22 that this is possible in 11.22 (office365V2).In order to test, I installed a separate instance and connected it to our Azure UAT. I have the list of users discovered but cannot find the option to filter contents over the Admin Console. Moreover, the Office365 OneDrive App is not visible in Comcell Console at all.Am I missing something?Thank you,Zoltan

Hi All, We are performing the Oracle out of place restore from recent online full backup. During the restore job, it trying to restore data from the another full which was happened a month before and failied. We already raised a incident with Commvault and it is Development bucket.   I would like to know that anyone come across this kind of issue in your enviorment and any known solution available. Thanks,Mani

Hello,We have running a Linux Database server (Oracle), the database data is sitting on LUNs on NetApp. Now in a case of hardware failure or any ransomware attack, we need recover the system with 1-touch recovery.We found issue to exclude the LUNs with 1-touch recovery.we created an autoanswer file, with (1-touch recover points), in the guy we are not able to unselect volumes which are coming from LUNs.During the recovery procedure it stops with error in the 2. stage, error: not enough space selected for restore.This was for a restore test to a virtual machine!In real scenario, to restore the server back to physical hardware, I see a similar issue a as we using VLAN tagging on our network. So we will not have our storage LAN online, which bring the LUNs to the server, so we need again to bring first only the OS back online, and configure then the LUNs.we are use:Linux Redhat 7.9CommVault V11SP28.36 (E2022)regards Juergen

We have a number of duplicated servers which show the server name with an appended number on the end but show up as duplicates in the console. An example is joebloggscs01 showing as joebloggscs01_2. Our 3rd party consultants say these are eating up licenses, even though they are showing as grey and deconfigured in the CommCell. We have a few servers showing like this and they have a job histories so I wasn't sure if they could be deleted because the job ID’s are not the same as the configured server, if that makes sense. Also in addition its showing as we have 261 servers licensed, when I deconfigured 10 servers to take it to 251, the Web Console report is still showing these servers as holding a license.  is there a time lag at all as to when the report will reflect the true number. I have logged a ticket with support but like coming to the community as you guys have helped me in the past. Please HELP!! 😀 ThanksTonyQ
