Hi all, I’m currently running commvault 11.30.23.Decided to give a try with Linux Media Agent Disk Library My setup is the following:RHEL 8.6 fully patchedRoles:MediaAIndex StoreIndex GatewayIndex ExtractorFS coreFSVirtual Server Mount points created with lvm.1x for backup with 500 GB1x for ddb with 250 GB/dev/mapper/vgbck1-lvbck1  500G   68G  433G  14% /commvault-lvbck1/dev/mapper/vgddb1-lvddb1  200G  2.6G  198G   2% /commvault-lvddb1and the / with 100 GB Also Ransomware protection is enabled. What happens is, after some backpus the disk library goes offline.And then the following message is displayed: Offline (Mount path is inaccessible. Check the following.\na. Is the mount path visible to the operating system on the MediaAgent machine.\nb. Is the username/password correctly entered.\nc. Does this user have read/write privileges to this mount path.) If i restart the services or the server, it stays online for a few minutes and then goes offline again. This is a LAB environment, I’m

Hello,I would like to know how the “release license” option works for Office 365.When using it, license is recovered and it can be used with another user, correct?Will we be able to recover the old backup data of the user who is no longer licensed? if so, for how long?ThanksSergio

I noticed a VM names mismatch in the JavaUI and WebUI.VMs in the JavaUI sometimes have a different name in the WebUI.Commvault support says it is probably because of the additional setting on the CS: “https://documentation.commvault.com/additionalsetting/details?name=%22DontRenameVMClients%22&id=7490” Unfortunately, it is not documented on our end why this is set on this particular CS.I would like to remove it, but would like to know when/why this setting should be used.Anyone? Thanks.

Hi,SQL 2022 was just released this morning. Just wondering if it is supported by Commvault for SQL DB backup? https://documentation.commvault.com/v11/essential/143077_microsoft_sql_server_agent_system_requirements.html From the link the latest edition that is supported is SQL 2019 but it also said the page was last updated on Thursday, August 05, 2021. Kind regards,Boyi

Hey, When trying to browse one of the VM’s for restoring specific file I get the following error:[MsgId[0x0e0000f4][Failed to initialize browse request. Check Browse.log on CommServe for more details.]: [1] Args Pushed, [0] Args expected.  I found in other thread that if I add some keys maybe it will help.Problem is I don’t know where and how to add it :) Commvault version 11.26.35

Hello Community,11.24.43intellisnap for vmware has two phases:1. snap backup/snap copy2. backup copy I am planning to implement IntelliSnap for VMware backup to WORM storage (Azure container), and according to the Commvault documentation, the 'SnapCopy (Job-based retention)' feature is not supported for WORM storage.https://documentation.commvault.com/11.24/expert/9251_configuring_worm_storage_mode_on_cloud_storage.htmlActually, Job-based retention is set at the subclient properties level. If I don't set job-based retention, will both SnapCopy and Backup Copy be supported by Commvault for this scenario? 

Hello,  We get new license for Metallic cloud to extend our librarie, last week added the new license via webinterface without probleem. But the extra 100TB i dont see on cloud librarie yet. But if i run license summary report then i can see that extra 100TB added to the librarie. Librarie  I dont know if you can see the screenshot. 

Hi,One of our customer will get soon a NetApp Filer with Full Flash disks (SSD disks). They will have one volume in their NetApp system with more than 100 millions of files. I proposed to use NDMP backup type and configure the feature NetApp C-Mode Multi-Streaming Backups.But the customer is afraid that he will have performance issue using NDMP backups due to the high number of files in one volume.Any advice?Many thanks.

Hi, we have User Group with a custom role. This Users in the user group cannot see the Button ‘Equivalent API’ in the Command Center when they start a Restore for example.As a Admin with master role assigned it is possible to see this button.Is there a specific permission which I can add to the role? Kind Regards

Hi! sometimes we have to install custom packages on Linux VMs because the installation from the CommCell is not working. (idk why). We copy the custom package on the Linux VM and executing the ./cvpkgadd binary. The installation interface starts and everything is fine. Now, I’m trying to do the same thing and only get this message:root@srv /tmp/cvmedia/unpacked/pkg # ./cvpkgaddUsing update installer /tmp/cvmedia/unpacked/pkg/linux-x8664/LooseUpdates/CU3/linux-glibc2.3-x86_64/installer/newinstall.gz running as /root/.gxsetup/cvpkgadd/newinstall:root@srv /tmp/cvmedia/unpacked/pkg #I used 11.20.32 and also 11.20.3 (downloaded from the CV website)I tried it on three Ubuntu VMs.Any idea?

IntelliSnap support for ubuntu 20.x with HP3PAR storeserv storage array. If yes does it will cause any harm to data while doing testing of backup.

Hello! I’m trying to restore some data from old tapes. The tapes were recalled and are in the tape library. When I try to do browse and restore on a particular job, I get “unable to find/get index cache for ….”. To confirm, cataloging tape should update the index, correct?

I’m fairly new to Commvault, and I’m responsible for our SAP for Oracle backups.  I am going through our systems and I’m trying to determine what the benefits/tradeoffs of a “Selective Online” vs Full Online backups.  There isn’t much data about what is/isn’t backed-up between the two options, if any. We currently run one full backup per week and arclogs run every 15 min to 1 hour depending on the data/usage.  We backup to disk with a secondary offsite disk aux copy and Metallic aux copy.  No tapes.Thanks!

Hi Guys, During an Azure VM Restore I noticed the VMs post restore gets powered on and shutdown even after the “Do not power on the virtual machine post restore” option is unchecked while restore. Why it happens ? Is it specific to Azure VMs only or this is same behavior for all the VM restores. Regards,Pank1988

Hi,i try to backup my Sharepoint 2013 server. Last backup runs on 21.12.2022.Now if i try to browse to file agent or sharepoint agent i get this error like at the attachment.Commvault version is 11.28.44.Other agents works fine.Any idea why i can’t get access?RegardsDennis

Hello.  I upgraded commserve v11sp16 to v11sp20 but, v10 client connection failed after upgraded If the client is v10 when the combo is v11sp20, is it not compatible?

When setting up the live sync two of the nine databases show in the General tab of the SQL Live sync options, on the primary server.  The backup server has all but one show in the SQL live sync options.  What would cause the databases to not show?  These servers are identical with the same versions of windows server and SQL running on them.  I need to have all of the databases replicated to the backup server.

Hello CV community, I hope your day is going well. I am new to Google mail support on Commvault. How do you identify an individual google mail account that is causing a job to complete with an error?  I checked all the tabs of the job to no avail.  I checked the log file but it does not list an Gmail account name.  Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Is it possible to create a classic mailbox backup?In my old version 11.20.xx this works for me.I made a mistake on my Windows Media Agent i i delete the subclient DDBBackup. Is it possible to recreate it? On my Windows Media Agent i delete the “Virtual Server” Object in the Commcell Console. Is it possible to create it?Thanks and regardsDennis

Hi, We have just replaced the Commvault with another backup solution recently, and therefore, we are going to decommission the Commvault (nothing wrong with Commvault though, it’s just a decision made by the headquarter where the Netbackup had already got a larger deployment scale). However, there is a problem.We have some Commvault tape backups which by regulation, need to be kept for 7 years. Therefore, in theory, we need to keep the existing Commvault (somewhere) for the same duration, right ?But, I’ve noticed 2 things about those tapesThe backups on those tapes don’t really have 7 year retention, it’s merely the fact that they are kept off-site (by a 3rd vendor) for 7 years ! In other words, all of those backups have already expired in the Commvault catalog. Even those tapes themselves are no longer in the Commvault So, my question is, giving the circumstance, is there still any point of keeping the Commvault ? Or the Commvault can still retrieve data from those tapes for restore,
