Backup job pending

Hi Can anyone also help me with this error, “Description: Unable to connect to client [Media Agent] to execute [VSAAppNotifier]. Please ensure that all iDataAgent software is properly installed. Also check network connectivity and if this product's services are running.” All services are running well on the Media Agent, so I really don’t know what else to do about it.

Permanently remove data from backup

I need the ability to permanently delete emails from an Exchange backup.  Beyond removing indexes and making it unavailable for recovery, I need for the data to be completely wiped whether by overwriting the emails in question with zeroes or rewriting the backup image so the data in question is no longer present in the backup file.According to the docs - https://documentation.commvault.com/11.23/essential/110998_deleting_mailbox_items_folders_or_messages.html and https://documentation.commvault.com/11.23/essential/104288_deleting_mail_messages_in_exchange_mailbox.htmlIf a message is deleted from mailbox it cannot be recovered.  But it doesn’t explicitly say how that is done and I suspect the data will still be present in the backup file itself.Is it possible to do what I am looking for?Thanks

I have 5 years of retained data. Is there a report that can breakdown retained data by year?  I’ve tried a job summary and the Data Retention Forecast report but it does not give me the details I’m looking for.

2 Mailboxes are consistently failing to backup with the error Failed to process mailbox. Error message [The server cannot service this request right now. Try again later.]]

I have 2 mailboxes that are consistently failing.  I have run the backup individually on them and they have both failed and the logs are showing the following error.  Failed to process mailbox. Error message [The server cannot service this request right now. Try again later.]]  Any ideas? Thanks

Right now the synthetic full backup on CIFS Share backup with IntelliSnap is not supported. Any way that this can be enabled?

Hyperscale - rebuilding vg for ddb & IndexCache mounts

I just had to have my NVME card replaced and now I need to build a new vg and lvm’s for ddb & indexcache. Is anyone aware of a file under /opt/commvault that may show me how those were created by the install scripts?

Admin console is blank

Hello,We did notice that when we login to web console and when we click Command Centre we got all blank page. We did try to restart Commvault cell even all server, but still was unable to see it. I did opened the case and hope the support will find what is a problem.Regards,

Backup Splunk' s Frozen Buckets

Hi Fellas,I have some questions about the Splunk’ s data backup. According to the documentation Commvault can take backup Splunk Indexes. But the Splunk has some specials files called “hot buckets, warm buckets, cold buckets, frozen buckets”. Tools - Add/Remove sofware button missing in CommCell

I am delegating access to my DBA group so that they can manage their own clients, including pushing agents from the Commserve.  I’ve granted their role access to:  However when these users open up their Commcell GUI, the “Install Software” button (under the Tools menu item) is not there.  If they log in to the web (admin) console - they *can* push the agent that way.  But we would much prefer for them to be able to manage everything from the same location (i.e. the commcell GUI) rather than flip back and forth.  Is there some other permission that I’m missing?

Media Agent Migration

Hi all I know migrating Meda Agents is usually pretty straightforward, but in this case we have some challenges.The Media Agent is also a SQL server that runs a production DB. It was created as a MA to back itself up only, due to it’s size.The customer is upgrading the Server Hardware and is following the below method, which causes us the challenges.New server will be built and given the same name and IP as the old one.So the old server will be shut down at the same time.My though it is to uninstall the MA software on the old server and reinstall it giving it a different name - to allow the DDB to be copied across to the new MA.Then if I install the MA software on the new servers, will Commvault register it as the previous MA?Second to that is moving the maglibs across.It’s all disk based. Is it possible to just detach the disks from the old server and attach them to the new one with the same ID’s and drive letters?We don’t really have enough free capacity to do a ‘move mount path’.We

CommServer Livesync software cache location

Hello,I have a CommServer with Life Sync configuration. Now I have the issue to hold the software cache on both nodes in sync. What is the best solution for this, as I read we cannot move out the software cache to a file-share as it must be located on the CommServer.what is the best practice to solve it?we running CommVault 11.20.55regards Juergen

Java gui job controller display... Remove username: name (number of jobs) ?

Trying to figure out why my Java gui display of the job controller is showing something like:Username: John.Smith (67)then listing out what I guess are all of the jobs belonging to that user.How can I get rid of that “username: John.Smith (67)” line in my display?

Simultaneous Synthetic Fulls slow system to a crawl

If you don’t mind id like to piggy back off your thread. Someone made a comment that the full synthetics would not stack and run at the same time. I’m having trouble with that where several full synthetic jobs are kicking in at the same time. Is there a way to have the system only run 1 at a time without me having to go in there and scheduling them all out?

Exclude databases by server plan

Can i exclude certain databases (tempdb, model etc.) on a plan/policy/server group level.The goal is to group servers which uses SAP Sybase database instances, and exclude databases which is not used.(tempdb, model etc.)Otherwise I have to edit each subclient, and exclude those databases, on each server. Hope you guys can help.Thank you.

Backup data from Egnyte to CommVault prior to migration to Azure based services

Hi CV Community, We have acquired a company that has a chunk of data in Egnyte’s cloud.  If possible, I’m to try and back this data up, before they start trying to port it into our Sharepoint and other services as deemed appropriate.   Anyone done this? (and how did you?) I’m not seeing a lot of “we did this” sort of commentary with google searches, and I get no hits for dealing with Egnyte data in CV’s manuals or KB site. Thanks, David K
