Hi, I have a customer that would like us to detail the hardware & architecture required to use Activate (Sensitive Data Governance) on the existing backup job data within their Commvault solution. The solution needs to be able to index and analyse 4PB of file system application data stored within the archive and backup deduplicated storage pool. The solution would also need to scale to support a live crawl of the file system data on the servers in the future. The current architecture has a limit of 160TB per node. Hi I have an LTO7 tape library that is giving us more and more issues.  Our plan is to replace it with cloud storage instead of replace the tape. Is it possible to ‘redirect’ the jobs from the tape copy policies that haven’t yet been written to tape over to a cloud policy?  The “Media Not Copied” for the tape storage policy. 

Hi,we’re using some role based permission in our commvault environment to enable access to basic backup/restore functions. Normal file restores via CommCell Console war working fine, but when the admin tries to do a 1-touch recovery I can see a “permission denied” in the event viewer and he gets a “failed” on his restore.Which permission are necessary to do a 1-touch recovery?Janko

We have traditionally pulled chargeback from our metric server through SQL connection. We have a new commcell that does not have an internal connection to the corporate network. How can I get chargeback from it? Is there an API connection that we can do to the report on cloud.commvault.com?

Hello everyone,There is a node which belongs to  daily_filesystem storage policy and the primary copy retention set to 35 days. Now, there is a requirement from the customer to keep specific folders with 550 days retention.Can somebody please guide me the steps. As per my understanding, I have to create a new copy in daily_filesystem storage policy with 550 retention and in Associations tab add the node’s specific folder. Any suggestions will be highly appreciated. ThanksAmit

Hello guys, a simple question:Is it possible to access my Commcell Console using another computer and/or server where my Console is not installed? For instance: I need to access the Commcell Console and make something inside (see if there’s any error, configure a Schedule Policy specific) and everytime I need to access the CommServe Server and this in my case is something a little annoying to do,  . I was thinking in install the Commcell Console in my computer and if I need to make anything specific in the CommServe I could connect using it, but I don’t know if this is possible and if it is okay to do, too. Thanks, 

All,Within Commvault console, we use the quick access tools feature a lot.That’s very handy, and is an added value. (we also use similar things as workflows)Despite it’s so usefull, it’s also causinng use headaches and spontaneous hair loss.As long as you use a simple command, it works fine. but as soon as you use “|” , “$” in the oneliner, that becomes problematic. Especially when using powershell, where that is used a lot.The documentation on quick access tools is very limited, hence my question over here:What is the official way to use    ‘ , “ , | , & in the command / parameter of the quick access tool. What is the escape character?

Hi, I have a customer who as a HyperScale 1.5 of 3 nodes, each node as a network configuration in mode 1.If we want to switch to mode 4, is there something to do beside stop Commvault services and Gluster services before rerunning setupsds to change the networking mode ? Hello everybody, there is a requirement from the Customer to identify the nodes which are currently backed up in Commvault. There are some nodes which runs once in 30 days. To make sure all the nodes are covered, I am planning to generate a job summary report of last 40 days in excel and sort with "remove duplicate" option to remove duplicate entry and share with Customer. Please let me know if this is the correct way or I am missing something.

Hello Commvault Community! Today I am asking you about the alert / notifications that will inform you about the backup for a particular VM’s.As you know, the backup job for the vCenter group - for many virtual machines perform one main Job, which is later divided into individual jobs for each virtual machine.The client asks if it is possible to receive notifications / alerts about the completed jobs for individual VM’s?I have checked the settings in the schedule that is performed by the vCenter group backup. I gave the appropriate options, but after the backup was completed, one alert came that the backup was performed. (screen1-2) Before this alert, there were no other messages about the completion of jobs for individual virtual machines.Hence my question is it possible to create / set an alert or a notification to inform when virtual machine X will be bought back. Thanks for help, Regards,Kamil

I’m very new to Lustre FS, so having some challenges. We have the backups working correctly so that’s sorted.When trying test restores to the same target, we’re seeing the below error:24813 6105 07/14 13:57:36 24576 FsRestoreUnixObject::handleError(4892) - Write data error = 9 I can see the directory structure is created during the restore process, but all files fail to restore.I’ve tried to restore a file to another location and am seeing the same issue.Has anyone seen this, before I engage support for assitance?

Working with DB2 on AIX for our SAP AFS Application. Approx. 4TB database split over 4 logical volumes in an IBM Virtual IO environment on IBM Power. This backup takes 20 to 26 hours. Below the statistics in db2diag after the backup. I have multiple sites.Each site has the typical setup, commserv media agent etc.I have enabled livesync at one site as I brought online another commserv and now I am looking into GRC. I don’t see anything that says it connect be applied. Just that its not intended for what livesync does.  

I have 200+ media agent and need to mark it to maintenance mode via workflow or q-commands. 

Hello, on a new site, I have deployed a commserve and 2 linux  physical media agents. Media agents do not have FC or ISCSI cards. I need to use 2 VM for hot add. Can I use linux VMs are Windows ? Thank you

i having an issue that i need to restore vm in the huawei vrm. the error is as below : Error Code : [91:42]description : unable to open the disks for virtual machine [VM]. Please ensure that the proxy is able to communicate with the ESX host and resolve the ESX host address. also verify that the disks types configured to the virtual machine are supported. **backup without any issue** i use commvault to backup virtual machine in Huawei VRM.thanks 

Hi,we use Commvault Simpana 11 and we backup our Citrix XenServer VMs.This works fine.If we want to restore a VM is it possible to restore it to vSphere? Or only to the original enviroment?Or is it necessary to use converting tools like Starwind Converter etc.?RegardsDennis
