 Hello,I have a situation where the option to enable block level backup on subclient is missing. It’s not grayed out, but it’s not available there. The missing option is from MS cluster virtual client (pseudo client). Coomvault version 11.22.13So we are still working on the evaluation license and hopefully will get the active license today.. Not sure if this has anything to do with it..But Im wondering why my commserve server which also falls under the clients has the “File System” greyed out.  I think we want to get a backup of the C: drive and system state for our commvault commserve server.. right?I looked under the properties for the client server and see that under Activity Control the ENABLE BACKUP is checked off.Im still figureing this product out but getting better…  Im adding a screen shot :  ThanksBC

Running commserve 11.22.13I just recently opened the flood gates on our new commvault environment and ran a bunch of jobs last night.  All the jobs appear successful but I noticed when I looked at the adminconsole Backup job Summary under the summary section I see “FAILED FOLDERS” was 1,211.  Seems like a lot with only like 15 or so small clients (windows, linux, SQL Server).How do I determine what folders are failing and from what server/client or job.?  Im not having much luck figureing this out myself.   I understand these folders could be folders that are being used and not able to get backup but would like to know what they are.  Thanks in advance   BC 

Have a requirement to stop a specific service prior to backup running so created a simple bat file with “net stop servicename”and configured the bat file in the pre backup command for the subclient. However backup job in pending state and I am getting an error along the lines of “User selection still set to none.”Is there more to the configuration of the bat than just stopping the required service?

Hi,I want to backup Exchange Online using an on-premises Active Directory environment:Does anyone know why the access node needs to be “member of the domain”? As the Exchange Online service account “must be created in Microsoft Azure AD only” (https://documentation.commvault.com/11.23/expert/28853_assigning_full_access_to_service_accounts_for_exchange_online_through_on_premises_active_directory.html)?Why can it not be “any domain”? Why can I not access the Exchange Online data just with the service account? We have a setup that makes an access node that is “member of the domain” a bit difficult, as our CommCell serves more than one O365 environment.Thanks!

How do i update the data displayed on the Dashboard manually.I am looking at the Health report on the webconsole. The data time at the top shows as of some hours ago and I will like to refresh this manually to get the current status

In a standard Backup Set/Subclient (File System agent), when you check Extend storage policy retention (Subclient Properties of… > Retention tab), it is possible to select one of two available modes: Job Based Retention and Object Based Retention. With Job Based Retention mode, there are some recommendations about archiving. With Object Based Retention, there is no recommendations about archiving, but the documentation cites stubs (Stubs are files that point to backed up and archived data). On Commvault world data functions as both a backup and archive copy, but It seems to me that both modes are related to File Archiving function, not traditional backup. Why are they here? I'm talking about a standard Backup Set, not an Archive Set.

I have a subclient that I use for ad hoc testing of backup/restore etc. Today I wanted to test the outcome for various job alert settings since the upgrade from 11.20 to 11.22 brought about some unwelcome changes to the emailed alerts. Rather than make a change to the job alerts for the many already defined jobs/schedules and then having to wait for the normal job run to see the result I figured it would be better/faster/less disturbing to test the alerts on an ad hoc subclient - one without any schedule.To perform the test the steps I followed were :Right click the subclient and select “Backup” In the “Backup Options” dialog box click the “Advanced” button In the “Advanced Backup Options” dialog box click the “Alert” tab There is no alert defined so click the “Add Alert” button Define the alert as you wish. Hi All,We are completely installing Commvault setup from scratch for 100+ sites. I am looking your assistance to generate the report as per mgmt report.I need to populate the data in CommServe Dashboard only for migrated clients/media agents. For example I have one remote site and the report related the sites such as Disk Library growth Media Agent load, SLA , Job Summary and etc.. should be included in the commvault reports after migration. As per my understanding, I can exclude particular client  or group from SLA report. Hi,Recently I twice created an Office 365 app using Command Center in 2 different CommCells (both SP22.13) and they didn't show up in the Java CommCell Console. Is this expected behavior or should they become visible in the CommCell Console? Type of 1 one of them is SharePoint Online (as opposed to SharePoint Online (Classic)).Thanks!

hi, it seems everytime a customer of ours is trying to restore a Synced Object to his azure AD. it will not work. it seems to only happen with synced objects and as i cannot find this stated in the documentation that it is not supported, i thought i would ask here. the error we recieve when restoring the object captured in the cvaadrestore,log is: ApplicationData::AADUtil::GetEntry() - GET  [{"error":{"code":"Request_ResourceNotFound","innerError":{"client-request-id":"0483b272-9b6c-486c-b4b3-eebeebc9d3d2","date":"2021-03-16T14:34:08","request-id":"0483b272-9b6c-486c-b4b3-eebeebc9d3d2"},"message":"Resource '532aebfa-c31f-46b5-bfa6-3a9af9f3be6e' does not exist or one of its queried reference-property objects are not present."}}] failed! and then it skips the item:RestoreStats() - [Total:1  Restored:0  Skipped:1  Failed:0  Received-Bytes:11109] does anyone know the current support status on synced object restores in azure ad?the customer is on Version 20.40. kind Regards, Thos Gieskes.

We’d like to restore emails from Exchange Online archive that were deleted by the user during a specific period of time.We are able to see all the messages he deleted in the Deleted Items folder, as our retention policy is 7 years from deletion. That’s a lot of messages, but we are only interested in the ones he deleted last week. Commvault must have a time tag on message deletion, otherwise it wouldn’t be able to purge based on deletion date. However, I’m unable to find this time tag and identify which messages were deleted last week.  Does anyone have any ideas?  Thank you!

Hello,we implemented endpoint backup succesfully for our Laptops.Everything works fine except of one thing:When a computer name resolves into a wrong IP address due to old or wrong DNS entries, then commvault can’t reach the computer and it can’t be backed up. So far it makes sense to me.However when we delete all DNS entries for that computer name and reset the local DNS cache from our Comserve, Commvault can reach the computer and it can be backed up.Or in other Words, when our Comserve can’t resolve a computer name into a IP adress and then the client starts automaticly the backup job, the backup can successfully be made. Apperently the client sends his IP address to the Comserve. When i then check the readiness from the client it says “ready”, even without a DNS entry or name resolution.Is there any kind of additional setting that we can set, that Commvault always ignores the (wrong) DNS entries and only takes the IP adress from the job?Regards,Kilian  

I have upgraded the commvault service pack on media agent from SP 18 to SP20. it is upgraded successfully and i can see on process manager. but it is not updated on Comcell console even i have reopen console multiple times

Hi,I am checking out Commvault ‘Analytics’.First remark: I don’t know *** about that.One of the reasons is also because I don’t see many posts about that, so I think it’s not used a lot. (this is the first Analytics tag :p )That said, I have a question regarding that, and I apologize for the end-user question :) (no, couldn’t find it in the docs).within Commvault Analytics webconsole, I created an object (cube?) within the File System data source, and Commvault did crawl the data.If I open it, I get also the data...great. So far so good Within that view, I get the data that I wanted.My question: how do I export this to CSV?When looking in the docs, I only see that export for the “file analytics” & “email analytics.

Please can someone point me in the right direction to the log file which contains the information on the Failed Folder on a File System backup.The backup job shows as completed successfully however the Failed Counts show as 1 Folder 0 Files. Thanks
