Hello,Can you please explain to me what is the difference between Device Streams, Data Streams and Readers ? And what is the efficient way to use them in Commvault? It would so good if you had some smart explanations.Greetings, Eugen

Hello community,11.33.45Trying to configure the Oracle RAC Client for Unified Data Guard and reaching the point of setting up streams.The documentation states: "The archivelog subclient for the primary site should have streams configured only for the primary nodes; the streams for the remaining nodes should be set to 0. For the standby site, configure streams for the standby nodes only and set the remaining node streams to 0 in that standby archivelog subclient. " Question:Should this configuration be done at the RAC subclient level or at the physical node level? :If configured at the RAC subclient level, streams will be set to a value for primary nodes and 0 for remaining nodes. However, after failover, when the standby site takes over backup, since its stream is set to zero, the backup won't run... If streams are set at the physical node level, can the primary node see the standby node?  Morning All,We recently upgrade our environment to 11.32.20 from 11.28.68, post update our clients are unable to perform guest file browse operations from the Admin Console. Prior to the upgrade clients were able to perform these operations without issue. Hi, Can we generate the report for a storage policy to see how much data written daily?For example, I have a storage policy that is scheduled for incremental from Monday to Thursday, and a full on Friday. Can I generate a report to see how much data is written on the full backups on Friday? Thank you.

Hello community  we have extended retention for Yearly backup keep for infiniteIf we change yearly extended retention to a monthly extended retention for infinite (no longer have extended retention for yearly), what happens to the yearly backups? Do the old yearly backups already on the backup storage/media start to get aging off ? thanks

Hi allI have a question about the running of parallel aux copy tasks - why two parallel tasks do not execute one after the other. After reaching approximately 80%, the job stops, then enters the "Waiting" state and the second aux copy job is started.Details:Commvault version 11.32Tasks start at the same time (same Schedule Policy)The same Global Secondary Copy PolicyUse Scalable Resource Allocation - Yes (in 11.28 it could be turned off and the tasks ran sequentially) The copy is transferred to the tape library The library has two drives but only one is used (GSC settings - device streams: 1 - this is a consciously set parameter) Priority 266 Is it possible to make some setting so that the first task ends and then starts the second one? Thank you all in advance for any tips.    

Hey, i would like to restore a VMDK file directly to a datastore from a Hypervisor (VMWare) without attaching it to a VM. Am I just unable to find the function, or can Commvault really only restore single VMDK files on a MediaAgent or directly on a datastore with the requirement to attach them to a VM?Shouldn’t be this a easy implementation as the process already exist (Restore Disk to VM). Just removing the attache step. 

Hi All, If backup job or aux job Status display Waiting due to library offline. will waiting job expire and kill by auto if waiting a long period? If yes, which setting control? if the library online again after a few days, will waiting job continue start backup? Best regards  

I have uninstalled all client agents from a host, the upgrade status shows as not applicable.The client now only has VM agent backups occurring. While all other VM backup clients show v 11.00, these clients still retain the agent version. Is there any way to resolve this as it is ruining day.

Hello, Community. There is a cluster of three nodes. 1 primary and 2 secondary.When I make a backup from one of the nodes, I get the following error:Error Code: [14:109]Description: Index processing failed on MediaAgent. This may be due to the index cache being full or because of a corrupt index.Source: 5, Process: MongoDBCtrlWhen I make a backup from another node, I get the following error:Error Code: [7:276]Description: Failed to start [backup] on node [3]Source: 4, Process: MongoDB how to deal with these errors?

Have 5 media agents in our environment that need to be renamed which would include a different FQDN for the DNS and also new ip address.  What is the best practice since some of these media agents also have DDB’s on SSD drives. Thanks

Where a customer has a requirement to restore data from a Secondary Copy, rather than restoring all of the data directly from that Secondary Copy, it would be useful if there were an option to use something akin to the DASH Copy process to transmit only the blocks that are not available via the Primary Copy.I could see this being really beneficial for restoring back to remote office locations, and for reducing egress costs when recovering from cloud (especially from Archive tier).Alternatively, something like a Copy Back option could work, where jobs can be copied back to the Primary Copy, leveraging DASH Copy.

Dear Community,  anyone has experience with DB2 point in time restore of more than 1.5 TB Database if yes can you share me how long it takes … in my case almost 9 hours taken for restore. data restore taking 4 to 5 hours and roll forward taken 4 to 5 hours.   

Why do the values of Front End Backup Size and Full Synthetic backups in the Chargeback + License Summary reports show a significant discrepancy? The total of the reports falls considerably below the actual value of the synthetic backups. HI Community,Today we did a migration of our DDB to DDBv5 ( a grid with 4 MAs).But we got this error message for one MA in the grid:“Compact partition failed - Failed to compact partition in MA [MA name].
