Hi all,After some advice on the following if anyone can help? https://documentation.commvault.com/2023e/expert/modifying_salesforce_backup_sets_to_sync_to_database.htmlThe instance where the current Database for the Salesforce Backup Configuration resides needs to be decommissioned.  If I was to change the Commvault configuration to use a new database on a different instance what would be the consequence of this?I would assume a full backup would need to be run of the Salesforce Org to build a new copy in the Database, but would this affect any restore capability for jobs that used the previous database configuration such as record level restores or could this be retrieved from the related backup jobs?  I would think that record level restores would not be possible due to the

Hi Support TeamHas anyone encountered and resolved an issue where, after replacing a MediaAgent using the app, the new MediaAgent does not appear in the Storage Policy's primary copy? I'm unsure how to fix this and add the new MediaAgent to the primary copy. (The Jobs for replace mediagent showing all completed)Best RegardsTai Nguyen

i dont have a dedicated non-routable backup network, but i can have redundancy and i have multiple VLANs for my clients, so the commvault hyperscale X document says to use Bonded VLAN topology as per below link,https://documentation.commvault.com/2024/expert/determining_network_topology_for_hyperscale_x_reference_architecture_setup.html.my question is, if i still can have a dedicated 1GbE link on my HSX reference architecture node, then can i use that 1 GbE port dedicated for management traffic, like connection to commserv, DNS ? if answer is yes, then does it become 

I have a situation here, after migration from 11.28.72 to 11.32.45, VM which were added using VM rules using VM tags appeared in different subclient of a Vcenter virtual server and it is impacting SLA since now the VM tag issue is resolved and backup in running under one subclient. Now i need to disable backup activity for the client for other subclient except the original subclientcurrently the VM is appearing in only ine subclient of the vcenter virtual server which is JPAWP, and the VM is not available or not showing under any other subclient. But when we check individual VM , it shows multiple backupset/subclient and it is impacting the SLA. Now i need to disable the backup activity for the VM, for specifc backupset/subclient. Do not disable backup activity on client level because the VM is curently backing up in its original subclien

Hey,Which API endpoint to use to get Storage Policy for a client? My requirement is to get Storage Policy for all clients, preferably without querying for each client individually. For VM client, I can use the /VM endpoint which lists all the VM with their Storage Policy. I need help with FS clients. Thank You.

This is with respect to Oracle clients.This feature is disabled by default, I would assume that there must be a reason as table level restores seems to be an awesome feature.Seems like a huge pro.What are the cons?

Hello Everyone,My network security guru is asking if there is a way to restrict access to the Commcell Console and Admin Console so it can only be accessed on the Commserve server.  I am aware of role based security and the Two-Factor.  But they just want it that the only way to access them is from the one server, or maybe our Jump-boxes that we use to access all our internal servers.  Hopefully someone knows if this is even possible or if we just need to go with Two-Factor and they will have to be happy with that solution.  Thanks for any help.

I am attempting to add a client to multiple groups using the following rest api. REST API - POST Client Properties (commvault.com)  The api returns 200 and some Json but does nothing. what am I missing here?

Hi, we’re on 11.32.43. We are only able to keep our indexes for a week, since our subclient is so large that the indexes for it are 600GB. So of course that means that whenever one of our technicians needs to do a browse and restore from this subclient, they get the “Index reconstruction in progress. 1 jobs in reconstruction list" message.I cannot find documentation that states how to track progress of these index reconstruction jobs. They do not show in the Job Controller list like regular backup and restore jobs. We just want to have a location to look in so that when an index reconstruction completes, our technicians know it’s okay to try their browse and restore again. Thanks.

The IP address we mention for this vlan tagged interface of hyperscaleX node should be an available IP from the VLAN range/Subnet range correct?  

HiGood day.I have configured my Commvault backup to write jobs directly to tape (not auxiliary copy)However, I noticed some things the client is an oracle database. I installed the file system agent and oracle iDA I configured the file system agent to backup some contents in a path, and the Oracle iDA to backup instances and archives.However, the files were successfully backed up to the tape drive. The oracle instances failed. Error is in screenshot.I tried to click on the error code, it was blank. I also know that Commvault should be able to backup a storage policy to a tale, regardless of the workload type. Is there a way to resolve this issue? Its been on for days.

We are provisioning a new NetApp E-series storage array for backups. From performance perspective, are there benefits to having separate disk pools for backups and aux copies compared to having one pool for both? 

Our Media Agent needs replacing.The replacement is probably going to be a Dell PowerEdge R5xx or R7xx with dual CPU and 128GB RAM and the intention is to use M.2/NVMe for the OS/Commvault binaries and DDB/Indexes but I’d appreciate any guidance and best practise on the build and storage.We’re doing a lot of synthetic fulls with small nightly incremental backups and we aux about 70TB to LTO8 tape every week.The disk library we have right now is approx 50TB.Is there any best practise that would favour NAS/network storage for the disk library over filling the PowerEdge with large SAS disks?With local disk on Windows Server is there a preference between NTFS and ReFS and is there a best practise over mount path size as we’re currently using 4-5TB mount paths carved out as separate Windows volumes on a single underlying hardware RAID virtual disk.Given modern hardware performance can anyone see a definite reason to do any more than buy a single P

Hello all,Just in case you are seeing similar errors in the last day or so. There appears to have been an update to the MSFT APIs we use to protect mail in M365. You may see errors similar to:"Not allowed to access Non IPM folder"Or you notice that the CVMailBackup.exe process crashes on the access nodes.My early understanding of this issue is that we have released an updated MR for the versions below that may resolve this. SP28: Install 11.28.111 or higher SP32: Install 11.32.48 or higher SP34: Install 11.34.20 or higher I have had one customer update to this on their access nodes and are not currently seeing any errors.

Hey! I am developing automation scrips using Commvault APIs for my team. I know the names of primary commserve which I use, BUT whenever a failover happens my API calls of course don’t work as there is no web service active on the primary commserve.  Is there a way to know which node the failover happened to using just the APIs? And also get the list of all failover nodes?  

We are in the process of upgrading clients to Commvault 2024 for the added security benefits as well as the potential storage savings. In the change notes for Commvault 2024, the changes state for backups other than database backups, “each backup job will back up only the new and modified items and create a full recovery image. Therefore, running repeated full backup is not required.”I know that existing plans remain unchanged and follow the old format, so I imagine the change process is just associating existing entities to a new plan. This sounds a lot like a synthetic backup, so it sounds like it will create a new full backup to start a synthetic chain which might be storage intensive depending on the environment and their storage constraints.Am I understanding this correctly? Hi All, We have a huge file system ( ~40TB with over 300M files ).It can be backed up with NDMP or to be mounted as NFS on a file server.The backup takes a lot of time to complete.What are the best practices / options in Commvault for such FS ?Block level backup maybe ??  Thanks
