How I configure Vmware VSA backup via NBD over backup network? normaly I need NIC pairing between client and MediaAgent to be sure the backup trafic is travelling over backup network, but in this case the ESXi server is delivering the data, how I can do here NIC pairing, as Commvault has only the vCenter server configured?Currently we use proxy server VMs with hot-add, but we want to reduce the VM foot print.We use Vmware and Windows MAs.Commvault version is v11.32.42regards Juergen

Hi All,I have a VM that is >2TB and we have observed both flakiness and slow performance completing backups, and in particular, restores.I have in the back of my mind the notion that CV recommends very big VMs be covered with FS agent (or intellisnap) rather than VSA but cannot find the relevant reference.The VSA best practice ref. does not cover this situation.  Can anyone help refresh my memory?Thanks

Dear,Today I back up my environment with volume licenses, now I will use vm package licenses.With this I will change my backup mode from file system to virtual Server.QuestionWill my backup volume change?Is there any calculation to size the storage size of my backup in Virtual Server mode?

The jobs are seemingly still running fine without any failed items.I restarted the services on the access node, also tried verifying in another browser. Maybe it could be a problem with browser cache, but no.Discovery and index timestamps are up to date.Running 11.32.23Any comments on this? What should be done? Can I trust the backup?

disks are set to lvm on my postgre server.When I want to take native block level backup I keep getting errorerror code: 32:392 media agent not installed

Hi Team, I am trying to prepare a custom report in which i want to have a Dataset which should give the output in horizontal tabular format. below is the sample screenshot which should be in horizontal. Basically i want to have horizontal table for each group showing job history count in similar below format. In single report there wll be multiple table with different groups. We dont want to have input. Something similar to below query for example:Select ABC group from XYZ Commcell showing job history with “xyz” fields for last 1 month.

Getting ready to deploy Commvault Media Agents to AWS EC2 instances.   A pair of Media Agents should do the job.     We have several sets of Windows or RedHat Media Agents in our environment.   Going with a pair of Windows Media Agents would require us to have a File Recovery Enabler for Linux VM, too.   Going with a pair of Linux Media Agents might require us to deploy a Windows proxy/access node VM.   Are we able to roll out a mixed pair of Media Agents, instead?     One Windows Media Agent, One Linux Media Agent.   Same global DDB.   I can’t find anything on it.  Curious to hear thoughts.   Thanks!   

In our ORACLE RAC pseudo client configuration the ArchiveLog backup set run every 15min and not every 8h as indicated in the Plan used by the setAny idea?I’m the Commvault administrator but I’m not confident with the DB Oracle part, I tried to following the documentation and I didn’t understand where is my fault ThanksAlex G.

I did shift-F8 to get gui logging going it created the GUI folder under C:\Program Files\Commvault\ContentStore\GUI but nothing is in the folder. I got the message that it was enabled but its not doing anything.Did the logging go somewhere else?

Hello dear community,this is not a problem, but rather a kind of preparation. Our CommCell server is virtualised and runs under VMware. We are planning to upgrade our CommCell from version 11.24.94 to Commvault Platform Release 2023E (11.32). In case something goes wrong during the upgrade process, I was thinking of taking a snapshot of the VM running the CommCell before starting the update and then restoring this snapshot in an emergency to have the machine as it was before the update.Is this a viable option, or does the CommCell not cope so well when a snapshot is imported?Are there any other ways that you can recommend to restore the functionality?Thank you very much for your answers!Best regards,Pascal

Hello I would appreciate an explanation of how I delete the backup from the cloud in order to start over. I tried to delete job - under storage policy -but it deleted only the backups that were added and not the first large copy which is 8 Tera i can delete just only the small job that are added with each backup.I want to literally delete everything and let the backup run again after I remove large VM.thx  

Hi, we are looking for more information about the Outlook Addin.Is there a site, that list the current (and maybe previous) Versions?Also some patchnotes and/or compatibility information would be nice to read.Currently, the only reliable way to get the Version/Buildnumber is to download the software from https://documentation.commvault.com/11.26/expert/29115_outlook_add_in_packages.html Un-Zip the Exe-File and take a look into the CvInstaller.ini to find more information and the build number. Btw. did you know, that the Exe-File on the MA-Portal is from 2019, the file from the docs.commvault.com is from 2022?

Do we have any option to perform Incremental restore.we have tested the Namespace and Application level restore( in and out of place restore). while performing the out of place restore for already existing namespace , if overwrite option is not enabled restoration fails and it succeeds if overwrite option is enabled. In backend this overwrite deletes all the existing resources from the namespaces and recreates again. we are not able to achieve the incremental restore which is not suitable for the TB’s of data size.

Hello, I’m running PostgreSQL v13.14 on RedHat 8.9 I want to restore a PostgreSQL Instance from FSBasedBackupSet.This will only work if I made a Full backup before I start the restore. Otherwise I got the error:Cannot start restore program on host [xxxx*xxxx*8400*8402] - a network error occurred or the product's services are not running.Source: wi823-sep, Process: fsIndexedRestoreThis is the link I use:https://documentation.commvault.com/2022e/essential/restoring_one_or_more_postgresql_databases.html. But why must I do a Full backup before starting the restore. What if the Instance is corrupt and I can’t start a backup?

HiWe presently run Commvault version 11.28.36 For some backup tasks/jobs we are using domain accounts. If we update the password to one of these account in Active Directory where do we update the password for the account in Commvault so the task/jobs continue to run?Kind Regards Dean

Hi All, we are actually troubleshooting an perforamnce problem.  There is an Sync Copy top Tape ( LTO 8 )  2 Mediaagents in a ms csv cluster. When we use combinded streams 1 and multiplexing 1 we only get max 400GB/H troughput the normal jobs have 100GB/h mixed data.  If we increase the multiplexing to 8 and combided to streams 1 the performence grows up over 1500GB/h .  so i have 2 Questions: Is there an limitaion in the stream troughput ? So can 1 Stream only use x GB/h Wich impact has the multiplexing on tape for the DR Restore process, Does it realy impact the performance so the tape getting in wind/rewind process ?
