I have a linux ubuntu 20.04 server and postgresql is installed on it. File system core, postgresql, file system are installed as software. I can restore full bakcups, but the restore option for incremental ones is passive. What could be the reason for this? 

Hi,We can restore the file server manually when the client need it. Now the client to ask for can we restore the backup in a schedule basis like everyday at 11.59 PM the restore would be perform automatically.Regards,awsupport1

Has Commvault addressed how to handle backups for VM’s that have been failed over Via SRM to a Recovery site? I know Commvault has livesync and that may be 1. answer but if the business wants to standardize on SRM someone needs to address backups at the DR site.

I am currently troubleshooting an issue when I try to do a full backup restore to another computer. On the first Destination field, I’m able to select the destination server, but on the second destination instance, it’s not populating the same instance. I’ve confirmed the SQL version on both are on the exact same version.  I thought maybe it might be an issue with the product version of the computer being behind. Tried to update, but I’m getting this error. 

Hi,unfortunately, CV has a bug in relation to schedules and CV Support has not yet been able to provide a solution. As there is no end in sight I am currently building a workaround. I am desperately looking for a way to trigger a backup copy via PowerShell (if necessary via REST) or to start the corresponding schedule (is deactivated due to the error). Is there an idea for this? Best regards

Hi teamI am creating and testing some DR procedures including vmware VM restore . I have done some restore performance tests. My commvault is. 11.28. I use hotadd mode (the most efficient transport in my environment because of thin disks). Media agent and vm proxy servers are windows 2019. And restore speed of large single VM seems to be below expectations.It is about 990 GB/hr (275 MB/s, 2,2 gbps).What is a bootleneck ? CPU or MEM is not a limit I believe but I noticed that the data transfer speed between media agent and proxy servers during restoring does not exceed 2.2 gbps (240 MB/s) over a 10 gbps network. It seems to me not enough.I checked outside commvault what can I expect from my hardware. The robocopy network transfer tests of a single relatively large 50 GB file (vmdk) from media agent to proxy and shows a transfer on LAN net of no less than 7 gbps (870 MB/s). ?3 times better than in commvault process ? Is it expected behaviour ? Why ? Can I tune this ? I have tried with nn

Hello,I removed a media agent and I forgot to disable the Ransomware protection before I got rid of  it in commcell.Now I can’t delete the directory since its “readonly”. Unfortunately the directory is on a drive also used for other things so I can’t format it. Since the drive has live data I don’t like to do the disk part thing either.Is there a commvault tool or way for me to get rid of the directory? Best RegardsHenke

We relatively often restore older versions of files to users. In the thick java client you can chose to sett a suffix option on the filename when restoring, to not overwrite existing files, and to make them easy recognizable. We can not find this option in the webconsole. (Command Center). Is this a feature planed to be implemented, or is there a simple solution to ad a suffix?The suffix is very useful when you restore larger amount of files to distinguish them from existing files.  

There is an option to migrate a Linux CS to a Windows CS. if I restore a Linux SET_XX to a Windows CS  machine will work ?

hi , we have hyperscale with encryption enabled and we are having aux copy to tape with below settings basically each tape should give aroung 40 tb after compression but we are only getting 15 tb  , do we need to disabled the encryption .i can see hardware encryption is enabled in the data path setting for tap e  

To try to best explain the situation we need to possibly have 3 environments set up in the Commvault CommServe for our organization. We would technically need to have this in order to separate our three groups that have access to the Commserve already to their respective environments that they would be able to have access to. Currently I have modified their security profiles in order to access certain libraries and media agents but this is proving to be difficult to maintain and I'm just wondering if I'm going about this the wrong way and that there is an easier way to separate the organizations. So for example if I have Group 1 group 2 and Group 3 that have their own individual clients and media agents and libraries that are associated to those groups, then I could associate user accounts to who can have access to those particular groups.I'm wondering if setting these up as companies would be the better option in the web GUI of the comserve or what would be the best practice for this

our commserv is currently running on windows failover cluster , we would like to upgrade the OS and version and change the cluster to livesync i am planning below upgrading the cluster commserv to supported version ,currently its running on 11.26installing failover lyve sync feature on this cluster , setting up stand by commserv with latest os and version , do a failover and if everything works , stop or kill the live sync , create a new server with latest version and make it as standby with same old commserv name , and do a failback  can anyone advise if this works?  or any better solution 

can a server be part of 2 companies , i am not using plan , i have only storage policies , i have created a company and tried to move the server to new company created , if 2 company want to manage one server can this be achieved without logging to master account

So we have a VM which is over 22TB in size and cannot be backed up by Commvault.  We’ve implemented a FS backup, but this still takes considreable time and impacts the VM (in use 24/7) heavily.  However, the VMDK has a VMWare live mirror, and we’d like to look at backing that up.  Has anyone done this and have any tips?  Is there a reason it cannot be done?  Lastly, I dont’ see why this wouldn’t be possible, but file/folders can still be extracted, yes? Thank you for any advice! Mike

Hello Commvault Community, We have this situation:On the switches, there are many attempts to connect agents with OS AIX installed to the Commvault infrastructure (the customer reported mainly that connections are being made to an air-gapped).The environment has OneWay Firewall configured (not by topology but on group properties). There are two large groups: the 'Client Servers' group containing all production agents, and the 'Commvault servers' group containing all Commvault infrastructure (except the air-gap server, which does not participate in backups). On these groups a Network Route is configured, on Client Servers the Commvault Servers group is added as RESTRICTED and on the Commvault Servers group the Client Servers group is added as BLOCKED.That is, it is the CV Infrastructure that should maintain a one-way tunnel with the production agents, not the other way around.Unfortunately, for some reason AIX clients (only AIX, because in the logs of several Windows doesn’t show these

An IP address has changed to a linux cluster we are backing up. Do I have to login to one of the cluster nodes to change it? or can i change it through commcell.I am familiar with a change of IP address for a windows cluster not linux Thanks for any replies

Our Commvault users are given access via an AD user group.That AD user group is set to have MFA enabled and therefor all our users make an MFA enabled login. In our domain there is also a user group for MFA excepted users.So now I would like to leave MFA enabled for the users that have commvault access (the commvault user group)But disable MFA for the commvault users that are also in the MFA disabled group. Is this possible?

Hello Commvault,I try to find a workaround in order to reduce a DDB Q&I times.The DDB is currently 238 TB, based in Shared partitions (Azure Blob Storage).Average Q&I times was 9,000ms (in Premium SSD (P15) in Azure VM, single Drive. After split “DDB paths” (to separate Disks) and add another 2 X SSD (for DDB partitions), currently average Q&I times was reduced to 5,200ms. Is there any way to succeed better performance?Maybe to Seal the DDB ?

This just started a week or so ago.  The Commserve shows libraries for a particular media agent server as “marked not ready”.  Looking into the cvfwd file on both servers shows the following.On MA:”ERROR: Connection from <commserver. to localhost:50580 is being denied due to not matching a configured whitelist and due to no services listening on this port.”There are actually 4 error lines for each instance. “validate(), “do_connect_client90(), and two with “Client connection failed….”In the cvfwd file on the commserve, there are similar ERROR messages.After a minute or two, the libraries are “now marked ready” and I can see an established connection on that port (50580).Do not see this on other MA servers. The MA and Commserve server are in the same IP subnet.Does not appear to be traffic related, as this will occur while nothing is going on between them.And does not appear to be impacting functionalityAny suggestions or hints?.
