Hello, Last week we upgrade OS from 2012 to 2022 with SQl 2019. And now i see that one of the user cannot qlogin on another client to run a script. Its saying that username or passwoord invaled. But with the same user i can log in on webinterface or command center.  EvSecurityMgr::userLogin() - Socket [0x00000000000019AC]: LOGIN ERROR: Invalid login/password attempt with UserName  With another user can i have no probleem to qlogin Now i want to create a new user but i need change from normaal password to Strong Paswoord -ps. Any idee how i do it? 

I am getting all twisted up with the groups created in LiveSync. With multiple CommServes what groups should Media Agent Agents and VSA VM’s be put into? Should they all be infrastructure as well?What is definition of internal and external? I’m using the predefined topoolgies created when turn on LiveSync. Thanks in advance.

I am hoping someone can provide clarification on the difference between releasing a client’s license and retiring that client. We have clients with backup data we wish to retain until it ages out, but the client does not need to be backed up.As I understand it, releasing the license means backups will no longer take place but backup data will remain intact. Retiring the client seems to also do this. Is the primary difference that a client can have its license re-allocated, whereas a retired client must be recreated as a new client? If this is the case, what’s the use case for retiring a client completely?Many thanks for reading and any input!

Who is this for?This is written specifically for people who cannot find a way to do something in the rest API. When should I use the qoperation execute api?If an API endpoint exists to do what you need use that, The rest api is much… much… much newer than qoperation execute and I suspect the thing that makes the rest api viable at all as a substitution for the command line is that fact that the qoperation execute api exists In other words it may be a stopgap solution.  DISCLAIMER:I am no expert, everything stated below is my opinion based on experience and experimentation.With that said I  both welcome and invite criticism from those who have deeper insight and knowledge.

Hi Team, I have a requirement to produce the details on the last backup taken,  for roughly 400 clients.qlist lastjob works well, but I can’t force it to accept a parameter file, as I was hoping to put all 400 clients into a text file and pass it to the q-command. I know a lot of these Q-commands will accept a parameter via “-af  c:\temp\parmfile.txt”.However, this cmd does not want to accept it. Does anyone out there know of a variation, or of another CMD that would give me these results? Thanks (and apologies for dodgy spelling in the title … can’t seem to change it)

New to workflows and Commvault in general, having deployed in December of 22. Looking for a workflow that would enable our DB2 DBAs to do an out of place restore to devops server using the repath options on a weekly basis.

Hi All, I have a client that upgraded their hardware and in doing so we went over the VM Socket limit. We then removed the license from the nodes and then decommissioned the servers. 2 of the servers licenses have been released, but the other 2 does not want to release the license.  I have ran Synthetic Fulls and Incrementals, as well as Full backups, but the license is still not releasing. The Host does not exist anymore, so I can’t even try to reapply the license to remove it again. Any Ideas? Thanks in advance.

The machine in question is of considerable size, in terms of terabytes, and encounters various issues which I would like to describe: The MediaAgent role was installed to send all information through SAN. However, it appears that this MediaAgent role has led to several client restarts. When attempting to stop jobs locally, Commvault processes remain running on the server, causing slow performance and interrupting the proper functioning of the databases. Se tiene un servidor XX el cual se requiere migrar a un nuevo equipo YY, la idea es que el equipo nuevo YY toma el nombre y la IP del equipo XX, mientras que el equipo XX es aislado y posteriormente eliminado, la idea es conservar los backups en CV del equipo XX y que  el equipo  YY  lógicamente quede con los planes de backup que tenía XX.Al realizar lo indicado aparece lo siguiente el cliente original con la data que tenia almacenada pero el cliente nuevo no tiene las politicas del original

Hi Team,As per the snapshot, total data written 1.33 TB  out of 10TB . But free space showing me 46 GB only.The same like showing me other mount points. But when check the physical size it is occupied around 10 TB only. Please help me on this.

I have given the correct username and password but still its giving error. How can I get the correct username and password?There is one option to change the username and I did that also but still its not working. Also Upload backup metadata to Commvault cloud - It creates a air-gap copy of metadata but where it exactly store? Hello all,Is there a log file on the backed up client (Windows OS) that shows all (successfully) backed up files from a File System Backup?As you can view all the successfully backed up files from within Commvault the information must be there somewhere - I presume in the CommServe DB itself - but is that also logged somewhere in a log file on the client? Background:An application on that Client is creating many files on a daily basis that need to be backed up but afterwards (after 24h) are no longer needed on the client. Unfortunately, the application does not cleanup these “old” files, meaning they remain on the File System unless they are manually deleted. Due to the large size of these files (couple of GB per File) we ideally don’t want to just extend the File System but instead would prefer to run a script that runs deletes these files 1-2x per day. So we are using smtp journaling and the location we are journaling to continues to grow in space. I am not sure why. I have run full back up jobs on the content store mailbox, i have ran cleanup against it as well. When clean up runs it only clears out the recent emails that came. However the path smtpmailcache\mailboxes\inbox have about 140GB of mail items. Am i able to remove all those messages? My retention on that mailbox is 1 day however i have 153 folders and growing in that inbox location. Any advice would be apricated.

Hi, Unchecking the option Enable Physical Pruning will disable macro or micro pruning? Or both?   What is the difference between that option and the Enable pruning of aged data (Mount Path Property) below?    

Hi, could someone please explain how the Legal Hold setting in a storage policy works?  So here is my situation, so basically I have a single server within this storage policy that needs to be set to infinite retention on all subsequent backups going forward.  Not sure if Legal Hold is the right way to do this, so any suggestions/recommendations would be appreciated.
