I`m on a journey down the path of understanding the differences and feature comparison between the two licenses above.I will have a few questions along the way.Our goal is to be able to provide system state backup/restore using 1-Touch for a Win7/Win10 machines.When deploying my first Windows 10 Client, I noticed that licenses were getting pulled from (Operating Instances) - Considering the client and the purpose there should these new Win 10 machines should be using a Client License instead of OI. So I looked for information on the license doc and could not find details about the Laptop and Desktop Licenses such as when it is use

Commvault changed the default GCP snapshot method from multi-regional to regional in version 2023 (11.30.0) and now gives you the option to choose regional or multi-regional snapshots for your data to help with cost savings and better flexibility of your backups.  Google Cloud Platform has recently published new pricing for their standard snapshots.  This price increase went into effect on April 1st, 2023.  Regional snapshot storage pricing increased from $0.026 GB per month to $0.050 GB per month (us-central1 zone baseline), a 63.1% increase, while multi-regional snapshot storage pricing increased from $0.026 GB per month to $0.065 GB per month (United States multi-region baseline), an 85.7% increase.  See Google pricing announcement for more information:

hello ,  we are standardizing our storage policies as part of that we are changing the retention set for the storage policies , most of them are lower retention than previously set if i run data aging job will it help to reclaim the storage space 

Could you confirm as to whether Commvault can be used to backup a CIFS when mounted on a Windows Server?

Hi all.At times we get the below error when something have happened to the Archive log files. Description: PostgreSQL Database: The Data backup has failed. Archive Log files are missing preventing this job from completing on Instance [XXX] Client [XXX]. Please run a FULL backup.  It would be beneficial if the job could automatically convert to a full, instead of killing the job manually, and then start a full. Do anybody know if this is possible? Regards-Anders

Hi,I would like to understand why when I see 32.35TB to be copied to tape, the aux copy is completes 100% successfuly, but the Total Data Processed (29.69TB) is less than the Total Data To Processes.

Upgrade from 11.24.90 to 11.28.56HelloI upgraded last from 11.24 to 11.28 to essentially upgrade the SQL DB last weekI noticed when doing my before the weekend space checks, that each mount path in the disk library now had 100 GB allocated, this was previously 2 GBI’m sure there is a good reason?My problem is, my customer has multiple mount paths in his library, never enough space and now has lost some more space in his disk libraryIf anyone could share the reasons for the increase and whether reducing back to 2GB is actually sensible - that would be great!Many thanksMark

Hello everyone,  I just noticed my file server backups are not aging out following the upgrade to 11.30.32.  My file server has the CommVault client installed and I do incremental backups throughout the week with synthetic full backups on Friday night.  The last synthetic full backup of the month is retained for a year and the last Syn-Full of the year is retained for 3 years.  Does anyone have suggestions on what to check?

We have a physical system that we will eventually move to virtual platform. But - i dont want to try to do anything to this system until  ihave a disk image backup. How would one take a disk image backup and point it to our media agent. Im familiar with the bare metal recovery process but curious how to take the backup. Is it just the system state?Physcal system backups are not my strongpoint.

Hello everyone.  I am trying to configure a job to be killed on a specific time.. I have some VM Backup jobs that can not run after 6:00AM. I already configured to be killed automatically after X hours of duration, but the issue is.. They don't start everyday on same time.. They don't have a specific time to be started. But i need to configure to be killed on a specific time.

I’m slogging through a CV hardware upgrade.  My company is “trying” to find $$ for training...but so far no joy, so I’m winging it.I have a new NetApp E2812, two new media agents, and a shiny Brocade FC switch to bind them all together.My immediate question is, do I create two volumes on the E2812 and mount one on each MA?  Or can I create just one volume and let both MAs read/write to it simultaneously?  Typically, sharing a volume like that across multiple Windows servers leads to trouble, but can the CV media agents handle that sharing?I like the idea of a single volume letting both MAs access all of the available disk space. That alleviates the need to balance my backups across the different volumes. Does anyone have any helpful pointers for me?  Much obliged.

Hello Commvault Community,Looking at this thread, I understand that IndexServer copies for V2 indexing are not recommended to be copied to tape media.However, what if we have situations where there are certain jobs on the tape that are the only last ones left and block the possibility of recycling this tape media? I checked for this StoragePolicy and these tasks are on both DiskLibrary and TapeLibrary (we care about disposal of these tapes, where the last blocking task is the BigDataApps task). Can we safely delete them, being sure that it will not affect the ability to restore the data? I've also seen entries to do Media Refresh for tapes that also have this problem, but then what? What is the most sensible way out of this situation, right after disabling IndexServer backups to tapes (if I understand correctly, it is re

Hi team, I’m conducting a PoC for MongoDB sharded cluster.Customer runs two shards and each shard has 3nodes. (1 primary and 2 secondary)We’ve installed plug-in on all 6 nodes and all configuration went well. For 1st shard, we performed the initial full backup without any option.For second shard,we performed the initial full backup with some option for better performance....… Backup performance is not bad in the beginning. (100-150MB/sec)Backup size of shard is 5TB and should be able to complete the job within 20hrs.So performance need to be higher than 80-100MB/sec at least. Backup server and Mongodb nodes spec is enough and resources are always available.But backup peformance is gradually degraded as time goes by and comes to 5-6MB/sec.We’ve never completed the initial backup due to this unexpected performance degradation.Mongodb data is on SS
