FR.24 !?My customer is currently at 11.24.60, should I upgrade the environment to 2022E prior to start deploying the HSX Cluster ?I’ve seen a lot of new features for monitoring and securing nodes !Thank you,     

Hi Community,When looking to utilize Cloud Power Management on Media Agents (in this case AWS), is there any considerations when looking to deploy 2 x node partitioned DDB Configuration?  I am trying to determine if there would be a situation where Power Management would power down one of the MA’s leaving only 1 x partition available causing additional bloat to the DDB and more data getting written to the Cloud Library?  I would assume that they would be treated as a pair and either both MA’s would be on or off but not sure how the logic works? Can’t find any information in Books Online so any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

We have a media agent that had it’s mount path on a qnap that needed to be sent out for repairs. In the meantime, we were lent another device with 2 shared drives. Now, the qnap is back but everything was wipped out, so a new share was created and added as a new library on the MA. A new DDB was created for this new library and were trying to do an aux copy from the temporary library to eventually delete the temp one. Any take on that? thank you

Hi,We have a grid where the index drives have utilization. The grid has 10+ storage policies with servers running OS backup.I would like to try and define a process where we move 1 or more storage policy to another grid to stop the index cache growth.Is there an overview somewhere (maybe report) that give give info about the actual index cache footprint for each storage policy?Because then I hope we would be able to look at the different index cache sizes of the storage policies and then based on that decide which storage policy we need to move to another grid.Thanks.

An year back, when we started to roll out Windows File servers (large numbers of file & folders) with native deduplication enabled, a lot of study was done to analyze the most compatible scan & we started using the “optimized scan” as the best method However, since we upgraded the Clients to SP11.25.xx we started to see the below alert on the successfully completed backups. Going through the log files, the optimized scan is auto changed by Commvault to recursive scan. “Some Scan content is part of NTFS Deduplicated volume<br>Source: xxxxxx, Process: JobManager” Would like to learn the best recommended scan method that supports Windows native deduplication enabled volumes. This is to ensure we have scan phase complete faster, no unmodified files are backed up. 

Currently we have Commvault clustering servers and Cloud library(S3 bucket) in AWS Account A, how to move whole Commvault backup environemnt to AWS Acoount B?

My X server is in A subscription and VSA, MA & Storage account is in B subscription [The X server is backed up with B subscription resources] so would like to know if there are any alternative ways to perform the in-place restoration without creating a new storage account on A subscription and want to my B subscription storage account even for the in-place restoration.

Hi All, I would like to know whether it is useful to enable Commvault WORM when there is a Storage Worm (Hardware) enabled or not?Is Storage hardware worm enough to protect the data?Also, when deleting a job from Commvault, does the Hardware WORM prevent you from doing it? Thanks & Regards

Hello, I found a post about how to view the attribute ms-MCS-AdmPwd without to restore, commvault saying that its not possible yet, the post was from year ago. I am wondering if its possible now?  And i want to know how to backup the attribute and restore it and how to view the content of attribute.Every month the admin local pwd automaticly changing, so wil be nice to found the old pwd. The old post  

After a hardware refresh of the CommServe, we deployed a new Web Server to use it as our main web console/Command Center. We are able to use the new server’s URL for the web console, but it does’nt work for the AdminConsole/Command Center, we get a 404 error Not Found. The Command Center actually works if we enter the CommServe URL manually, but not with the new Web Server’s URL.We tried to force the new Web Server’s URL on the CommServe object using the additional setting WebConsoleURL/CommServeDB.GxGlobalParam, but the Command Center is still unavailable. TomCat and IIS were restarted, on the CommServe and the new Web Server, but the Command Center will only work with the CommServe URL.Anyone had a similar problem or have suggestions?   

Last month VMware released VCD 10.4 which is an exciting release for a lot of VMware Cloud Providers. But this time they also deprecated a lot of older API versions including the API version that is being used by Commvault. We currently run FR26 which uses API version 31 to communicate with VCD so we cannot upgrade to VCD 10.4 and it's also not listed as part of the supported version in the FR28/2022e documentation.I heard rumours support will be added in a FR28 (2022e) maintenance release somewhere in the near future, but I hope someone can be more clear on when we can expect VCD 10.4 to be supported.  From the release notes:VMware Cloud Director API versions 31.0 and 32.0 are not supported VMware Cloud Director API versions 33.0, 34.0, 35.0 and 35.2 are deprecated and will be unsupported starting with the next major VMware Cloud Director release.

Situation:primary Backup on site A onto S3 with deduplication, retention of 30 days / 4 cycles, no WORMBackup copy (synchronous) to another site onto S3 with deduplication, retention of 30 days / 4 cycles, extended retention for 365 days (monthly fulls) and 10 years (yearly full), WORM Question:if we enable (object-level) WORM with the Workflow on the Backup Copy storage pool then by default the WORM Lock period is twice the retention, meaning in the above example WORM Lock would be 60 days (2x 30 days). However, how does that affect the extended retention for the monthly / yearly fulls? To what value would the WORM lock have to be set to guarantee that the monthly and yearly fulls are WORM protected for 365 days / 10 years, but all the other backups should follow the “normal” WORM lock of 30 days?If we set the WORM Lock to 10 years (how long the yearly fulls need to be WORM protected) then all backups that get copied would get that 10 year

I recently installed Commvault using the appliance version 11.26.  Looking at the health of Commvault it is picking up a Commcell called MasterVM.  How do I get rid of this entry?  

We have a Sharepoint development server that seems to have filled up the c:\ drive, due to a subfolder in the jobresults directory filling up with about 145k files and 230GB or so of data, most of it from the 09’th and 10’th of December (so a couple of days ago)  I’ve tried to set the “prune job results” to 1 day, and restarted the services, also tried to trigger a backup job manually in an attempt to get commvault to clean up the jobresults directory, but no such luck. So i guess the question is, can i safely manually delete files and folder in inside the job results folder ?Specificly ..\jobresults\CV_Jobresults\iDataAgent\MS Sharepoint Doc Agent\2\1822\<some ID-string> folder, which is the one that contains 146505 files from the 09.12 and 10.12

Hello,  I’m trying to create bunch of subclients on client using command lines. everything was working fine no issue. and i have created a lot of subclients using ths way.suddenly, i start to get this error subclient: Error 0x202: Failed to connect to QSDK Serversequence: QLogin -cs commserver  -u user User logged in successfully. qcreate subclient -c client -a dataagenttype -b backupset -i instance -n subclient -sp storagepolicy -f content1 subclient: Error 0x202: Failed to connect to QSDK Serverany idea why this error started to pop up and how i can overcome it ? i have restarted the commserver services i have rebooted the server and the issue still exsist.

Hello,  We need to replace our backup storage as well as the media agents. We also want to update our environment from SP20 to SP28 and I'm trying to figure out the best way to do this and have the following thoughts.The update of the existing environment should only be done at the end.The first plan I came up with would be to install the new media agents with SP28 and integrate them with the existing version (SP20). The new backup storage will only be used for the new media agents. New storage policies will be created and all active jobs will be moved from the old to the new storage policy. The data on the old backup storage will be kept until the retention period expires. After that, the LUNs and the old generation media agents are removed from the environment.The second plan would be to attach LUNs from the new backup storage to the old media agents and use them for backups. Along the way, the new media agents will be set up. When they are finish

Hey all, i have an question regarding File Activity Anomaly Alert.  Did the software learn about anormal events ?  In my case we have an exchange mail archive server and there are weekly tasks which exports and imports mails.  Also we have an windows file archive server which archives files ( not with commvault )  So during the jobs we had million of file changes.  Is there any option that commvault knows about.  What do you think is the best case for this servers ? And one more question :)  Is there actuyll an better way to find out where the anormaly activy was found as descriped here: https://ma.commvault.com/Article/Details/49297 ?

Hello Commvault Community, There was a need to verify the completed backup tasks, and precisely to check from the CommandLine level or Postbackup scripts what status the last backup job ended with. Here the question arises, will Postbackup scripts work only for backup jobs that end with the Completed status, or for all statuses equally? If for all, will we be able to use CommandLine or Postbackup scripts to check the status of the backup task and maybe some other detailed information? We need it when protecting databases using FileSystem (database files sent to a VM in the form of a file, and protected there using File System Agent). Thanks&Regards,Kamil
