Hello,Our client ask me how restores from Azure cloud storage works when data is located on cool tier and on archive tier on Azure.We have tested the archive tier first. We copied the data to the cloud archive storage, and performed an restore for a database. We selected only one (of many) database which should have size lower then 10GB, but the full job backup size is 8,5TB (Size of application) - Recall archive workflow is working for 3days and completed only 30% - is it recalling all 8,5TB of data from archive storage?And how it would work if we use a cool tier cloud storage - when data is phisically available (online). If we copy a job which have 8TB and we will perform an restore only for one database (~10GB) from this huge backup - will it download all 8TB of data or will only choose this chunks which actually contains the data of this small 10GB database?Thanks in advance for help :)Have a nice day !Regards,Mateusz

Hi Vaulters,Is it possible to upgrade content indexing from index V1 to V2. From my understanding upgrading the index is done at the client level and in this case the Exchange Compliance Archiver agent is the one that would need to be updated and all compliance jobs will become Index V2 going forward. However, the Agents that Support V2 page lists that you can’t migrate from V1 to V2 but can create a new client with V2 indexing. I just want to ask so that I can inform my client with certainty that this isn’t possible.

Hi All, I have some question about Commvault on Alicloud.Currently, all my CommServe, media agent and clients are On Prem. As i plan to do restoration for my On Prem backup to Alicloud ECSI have done create Proxy VM at Alicloud ECS.Next, i wish to know what port should be open in order my On Prem data able to restore to Alicloud ECS. And which server need to open those port.    

Hi, on “old” installation on comsmerve the mediaagent package is installed.  So under storage resources mediaagents the funktion ransomware protection can enabeld. Is there any advantage when we do that ? or any disadvantage ?  

Hi,We’ve been having this Error (Error Code: [19:861] Could not connect to the DeDuplication Database process for Store Id [xxx], Process:clBackupChild, JobManager or clBackup) on multiple clients recently (agents seem random : Linux FS, Windows FS, Oracle RAC… v. 11.24.34). Our network team did not change any FW rules.The only temporary solution we found for backups to complete is disabling Client Side Dedup on all clients having the error, but we would prefer not having our MAs do the dedup.If anyone had a similar problem, any suggestion and ideas would be appreciated!Regards

I found this thread because our largest Linux File Server Agent is taking 60+ hours to make a synth full rollup each weekend of past week’s 15 (3 daily incrementals, M-F) incremental backups.I just checked, and our scheduled synth full does NOT have the ‘use multiple-streams’ option checked.However, you mention that we need to be running V2 indexing on all the clients (file servers and VM hosts alike?) in order to use multi-stream synth fulls?I can see that my VMware client is only using V1 right now, so I see I’ll need to find the workflow to upgrade that. This entire commvault system was set up originally in April 2018, so I am not surprised I have some v1 stuff here.But I’m not sure where/how to check the indexing version on my file server clients, which is really where my synth full performance is suffering. Looking under the properties for the client, the agent, and the subclient, is not showing me a “V1” or “V2” option. Thanks for any help you can p

Hey Team,  i need to build an Workflow, for the “Update Team”. They should simply start the workflow which then stops all jobs, makes a DR backup, disables the schedule and stops the services for CS or Mediaagent. Unfortunately, I'm a noob when it comes to this topic. I got the point about stopping all jobs and then doing a DR backup. I even saw a point where the services are restarted but that doesn't help me either. Maybe someone has an idea from you :)  

I have a customer that’s running Azure SQL backups, the backup process triggers the export of the database to a bacpac file in a dedicated storage account and then backs this up to a Cloud library.I was under the impression that the data in the export location would only be transient as part of the backup process, however, looking at the storage account there are bacpac files going back for as long as we have had backups running for these Azure SQL accounts.Is this the expected behaviour or should the backup process be cleaning up the staging location?

We have Jenkins and want to use REST APIs to connect to commvault for database restore (duplication) activity, is it possible ?

Hello !We have a Commvault Appliance HS3300. For some reason, space in the disk library is not freed up. I do View Contents - 64 TB out of 250 TB are occupied, and 9 TB are free at the disk library level. Did it several times Data Aging, Data Verfication - didn't help. How to free up space on the Appliance?  

Hello, We are getting slow throughput for VMware backups using intellisnap. Around 150 gb per hour with 5 readers.Data store is on NetApp and VSA/Media agent is VM.It is currently using NBD transport mode.Can hotadd or another transport mode be used and will that be faster? Is there any other best practice?

I have a large isilon appliance that needs to be backedup.  There are folders that are shared out simultaneously via CIFS and NFS.  If I need to restore a file, how do make sure the CIFS and NFS permissions are ok. I know ndmp handles this just fine.  I am curious how to accomplish protecting the file permission in the Windows world (CIFS) and the linux world (NFS).  

We have a global Secondary Tape policy that we use for sending aux copies to tape. Currently it it set to use only 1 stream to keep the number of tapes being written to a minimum.I would like to switch the Full backups to 2 device streams though. I assume there is no way to do with the schedules? I need to make a new storage policy that is associated with the Full schedules?Just checking that I’m going about this right, thanks! Nico

Hello !There is such problem at Oracle backup. When the backup starts, the state = Running is being executed, after a while the status changes to = running (Cannot be verified) - see the screenshot below. A little later, the task goes into state= Pending and then the backup does not go through. Tell me, what kind of state=running (Cannot be verified) is this and can it lead to an error?  

Hello, I have a production server with CS that is already binded to DR (which is installed inside VM) How can i replace the existing DR (Inside VM) to my newly setup DR (Physical Server). I hope anyone can help, since i wanted to run a restoration drill. and if you have any advice what to do and what not to do during the restoration drill, that will help me.
