MySQL Backup not possible because of Log4J usage

Hello, we have already patched the environment regarding the Log4J vulnerability and are at the 11.20.82 level.Now we have a system that has been equipped with a MySQL agent. The backup can be set up but this does not start. Our network team has analyzed the traffic and informed us that Log4J is being used and therefore the traffic is blocked. All other agents show no problem. Is this a false positive or can the problem be fixed for the MySQL agent.I have attached a screenshot of the security warning.with kind regardsThomas

Media Agent database

Hi Commvault Community, Just wondering if the Media Agent in Commvault uses a specific database ? Since the CommServ uses SQL DB for its metadata, I was wondering if the MA uses certain DB for DDB or Index Cache or anything else.

AuxCopy free space is less than primary

We  have 2 Synology 24TB storage libraries, one for the primary and the other at another site for the AuxCopy.The primary has Free Space 15.34TB, Size on Disk 8.59TB, Total Application Size 30.5TB.The AuxCopy has Free Space 3.62TB, Size on Disk 20.33TB, Total Application Size 30.33TB Shouldn’t the AuxCopy be an exact replica of the Primary?  Why would it be larger? Thanks for any suggestions.Larry

How to change the auxiliary copy as the source for Live Sync at a remote site

Hi everybody!We are in the middle of a storage migration at our remote site. In that site is configured the aux copy that acts as the source of the Live Sync. There the storage is going to be retired soon so we would like to know if there is a supported procedure to move locally the contents of this Selective Copy to another new one in the new storage avoiding to send the data through the WAN. Some questions about the procedure are not clear because:An aux copy between Selective Copies only copies Fulls so how can we copy the last incrementals? In order to allow the new source of Live Sync to be able to receive the incrementals from the Primary copy (headquarters) must be modified by the command:qoperation execscript -sn DisablePreviousJobsOnNewFull -si @i_SPName = 'storage_policy_name' -si @i_CopyName='selective_copy_name' -si @i_Set = '1'          but we don’t know if it is possible to have 2 selective copies with the same configuration in the same Storage Policy. We would be very gr

Ransomware protection on VSA proxy

We have an VSA proxy which has the media agent installed, is it best practice to enable ransomware protection on the proxy. whether it affects any backups  ? but proxy is not owning any disk library.

Failed to read media during restore

Hi everyone This is my first post. I was trying to restore some files I lost from an earlier backup. I could view the files and folders. I selected the copy precedence to be 1 (my primary copy)However, whenever the operation starts, it gives the error “Failed to read media during restore” and stops at 5%Everything seems fine. Until I tried to skip the errors, and I find out that the folders are restored, but no files in them.Please help out. Is there something in the settings I have to change?

Remove e-mail authorization

Hello guys, maybe this could be a silly question, but, is there any way I could disable the e-mail authorization I received when I try to perform some admin tasks like Retire a Client, for example.I tried to exclude the Client Group/Client Computer so I don’t need to receive the e-mail authorization, but I still keep receiving the email, even though I already authorized it.I know about the best practices in terms of security but this is causing my clients a little discomfort, and I don’t remember where this feature can be disable. Thank y’all,

Pure Storage as Immutable Secondary Copy

Hi Community ,We are using disk library as our Primary Backup Storage  . We would like to configure immutable secondary DASH copy on Pure Flash Blade . I would like to understand -- Can i create a disk library from Pure Flash Blade with hardware immutability ? Can i use Pure Flash Blade array to create a DASH Aux copy with source as disk library primary copy to target as library created from Pure Flash Blade . Backups are Streaming & VSA , not IntelliSnap .  As per the CV documentation and videos , i see that Pure is only configured as Primary backup storage with IntelliSnap backups . Can we use it as backup library target for aux copies ?

Every now and then (perhaps once a year, usually soon after installing a feature release), I return to the challenge of writing reports in Commvault to report on current status consistent with the way I think. Is there a section of this community that deals with developing custom reports (and dashboards) in more abstract, theoretical ways?I don’t want to be told how to solve a very narrow, specific problem, let alone told of five reports that display similar data; I want to discuss the mechanics of, for example, how to link from one Commvault report, such as one that might sort data by subclient ID, to another Commvault report that displays information relevant to one specific subclient ID. Another time I might want to discuss the various data display widgets in the report writing tools. I try to use Books Online, but I’m almost convinced my brain works differently than the editors of Books Online, so I’m looking for an alternate perspective or resource to address some of those arcane

Running Auxiliary Copy overlaps with Primary schedule

Hello,I need a little clarification about long running Auxiliary Copies.On a daily basis we run a Primary Copy schedule which is followed by three auxiliary copies. Quite often the auxiliaries take a very long time to complete, enough to overlap with the primary copy schedule of the following day. This makes the jobs on day 2 to “enter” the still running auxiliary copies from day 1, is there any way to avoid this? Is it possible to set a boundary on the latest job to be included in an auxiliary copy?To my understanding, the Copy Policy->Backup Period->End Time setting cannot be used as it would provide a fixed date rather than a moving one.Sorry if this sounds a bit dummy and thanks for you supportGaetano

Jobs mark bad

I want to move jobs from disk to tape, when I run the auxiliary copy it gives me an error when it finds a CHUNK and some of the jobs are marked as bad, try to mark them as good and it gives me the following error "the selectted job cannont be marked good , since it has been marked bad by the system during a read operations"Already validate at the Operating System level that the CHUNKs are in the corresponding route.If I try to view the backup data for those bad jobs through a restore I can view and navigate to the file to restore Is there any way to recover the good status of the jobs?

How to deal with divide Commserv Environment or solution for blocking connections to Russia.

Hello, In our Global infrastructure we have some backup solution which is managed by one global Commserve. In current situation we worry about connectivity to some Media Agents in Russia and possibility in the further that the connection to Media Agents from Europe can be blocked and my question how to prepare infrastructure on that task, to not lost possibility of restore and backup server in Russia. Or what type of solution can be implemented ? I can imagine that the task can be difficult to divide Commserves on Two machines and when the situation will be more stable we would like to merge both Commservs. Situation between the Russia and rest World is very dynamic, so we don’t know when that solution will be useful. Regards, Michal

How to Replace the webconsole cert after it has expired

We use a wildcard cert in or organization and it had recently expired.  So when I try to get to the webconsole Im getting a “NET::ERR_CERT_DATE_INVALID”  .    I have the new wildcard cert (*wildcard-cert.pfx file)Im not proficient in the certs department.  So do I just copy this cert to the C:\Program Files\Commvault\ContentStore\Apache\conf\ directory.   This is where I see the same cert name which Im assuming is the expired cert.I looked in the server.xml file and saw the following -    <Certificate certificateKeystoreFile="conf/XXX-XXX-wildcard-cert.pfx" certificateKeystorePassword="XXXXXXXXXX" certificateKeystoreType="PKCS12"/>  Or is there a particular command I need to run to add the new wildcard cert  (pfx file) to a keystore etc..? Please advise..ThanksBC

Effective searches on documentation.commvault.com

I’m not sure exactly when it happened but the documentation site has been bifurcated into “Essential” and “Expert”  I find that most of the time when I search the site it takes me to essential which almost never has what I am looking for.  Typically I would have to then navigate through the expert tree to find what I am looking for.Is there a way to limit where your searches happen?
