Often we see cases where Check Readiness is failing or backups failing due to communication issues. Whether these clients be Media Agents, VSA Proxies, Exchange servers or Linux FS.This article will cover common issues that, we, as support frequently come across in tickets that are raised.Check readiness is a simple tool that can be run from the CommCell or Command Center that does a network check to ensure that the Commvault Ports are opened and listening.The first things we want to check:Are Commvault services running on client? Is DNS resolving? Are the required ports opened? Is Windows firewall enabled? First, we want to check to see if the Commvault Services are running on the client. Without the services running, check readiness will fail by default because there is no service/process running that will be listening.Windows File System: Open "Commvault Process Manager" and go to the "Services" tab. Here you will see a green play button if they are running. Linux File System: type

Hello,I’m looking at upgrading all my Windows file system agents to the same service pack as our management server.I wanted to do this via creating a package and have the package sent to the servers via sccm as some of the servers have to be manually patched.I was wondering if anyone has done this before? any advice would be appreciated. Many Thanks, Craig

Good day all As we know the FR26 upgrade highlights the requirement to upgrade password complexity to Level 3.I’ve gone through all the local accounts (safe to assume the Domain accounts are not queried) and I’m still seeing the alert.I’ve looked to see if there is a way to list which accounts are the problem, but there doesn’t seem to be a way to list them.Does anyone have any solution to this?Thanks,Mauro

On Sealing the Deduplication Database page there is a note. Can I perform Synthetic Full Backups of associated subclients manually instead of traditional Full Backups? 

Can I move a partition from a SEALED DDB to the same partition path where the active DDB is located? I just sealed the database before move the partition.

Hello, if you have backup jobs on tape and want to delete the contents and reuse the tape, can you just right click the tape and delete contents? I do not know if you right click delete contents will cause any issues in CV with the jobs associated to the tape contents.  

Hello!How I can just delete DDB when server with this DDB no longer exists? and these DDB are no longer needed. Why do simple actions in Commvault cause “pain”?

HiOn endpoint backup plan there is option “RPO” under backup frequency is every 4 hrs. this every 4 hrs. is full backup, incremental or differential, and is there any way we can confirm the backup running every 4 hrs. is full, incr. or diff.  Thanks

Hello team OS: Wins2012 R2 datacenterCommvault Client version: V11/SP25.32Windows file system on the client indexing version :  2installed date:   Apr/2018 for some reason, locked file will not get backed up when ‘Track Access Time’ enabled Just wondering if this an expected behavior that locked file will not get backed up when ‘Track Access Time’ enabled or this is something Commvault development team need to look into ?   Tried:unchecking “Track Access Time” and then change the VSS setting for locked files only or as needed.  Once I make the change then re-enable “Track Access Time” , and it reverts to ‘’Use VSS for all files’ again.   

Hi All,During the PostgreSQL backup the C: drive is filling up to 100%. The database itself has about 400 GB on D: drive.The disk space used on C: is 34 GB when no backups are running. But 150 GB (whole disk) is used during backups.I need to prevent the C: drive from getting full during the backup.What fills up the C: drive?Is it possible to redirect it to another drive/folder?Any other ideas?Thank you,Lubos

How or is it even possible to enable a 25Gb link on hyperscale Dell r740xd2 reference architecture?  We have the optics and switches to do 25Gb.  But the server doesn’t seem to want to recognize it can do 25Gb.  Tried ethtool -s p1p1 speed 25000 duplex full autoneg offand ethtool -s p1p1 autoneg onUsing  Broadcom Adv. Dual 25Gb Ethernetwith a  P7D7R transceiver.

Hello, Commvault Community,I was searching for documentation about GlusterFS, but not sure if the lead I found really applies to what I want.   I was wondering if there is a way to globally exclude files that are of type “fuse.glusterfs”?   I found this in the doc, but not sure if it applies to what I’m researching.  Exclude Files From Backup Operations in Hybrid File Store (commvault.com)Situation:GlusterFS replicates data multiple times over the cluster, i.e. one file turns into 5 copies across the nodes in the cluster (assuming there are five nodes).  We have an exclusion list defined in the Global or Client Filters, but this only works if we know where glusterfs types are being stored. We recently discovered an unaccounted glusterfs nodes, and as consequences, files were being backed up five times.   As you can see, waste of resources.   Is there a way to filter file system types like that doc link I pasted?   That link defines excluding txt, jpg, bmp.  Not sure if this can be done

Is it possible to create an automatic updated group of clients which have had successful VM backups. The members would be the VMs not the VMware cluster.

Hello!This is Stefano, I’m using CommVault since years.For business needs I have to migrate some of our clients from our existing CommCell to a new one (I already requested and applied the auth code for both).This use case is partially covered by online documentation, but some of the steps are not really clear to me.My source environment is the following:- CS running on a VMware virtual machine;- Media Agents are physical HPE boxes, and they uses some big HPE MSAs storage;- a few VMware subclients to be migrated. Some others needs to stay in the source env. With regards to VMware subclients, to better manage the migration I already moved the subclients in a dedicated Virtual Client, with the result to have:- subclients that must stay in the source --> VMware vCenter client "A"- subclients that must be migrated --> VMware vCenter client "B" As said, Media Agents are physical boxes and one of them does backup for both "A" and "B", toghether with other resources (AD, SQL, File Syste

We are planning for Linux MediaAgents, so it’s natural that customer wants it on Debian, however looking at BOLhttps://documentation.commvault.com/11.24/expert/2822_mediaagent_system_requirements.htmlThere is only one version of Debian listed as supported platform for MediaAgent installation. To make it worse it is Debian 9.x which is pretty old already and currently partially, but soon to be completely EOShttps://www.debian.org/releases/stretch/ Is it just a oversight in BOL?Are newer versions on Debian like v10.x and 11.x supported as MediaAgent platforms? If anyone could share some information that would be great.

Hi,we create new client (Exchange DAG) and the discovery works fine. But the discovered member servers are not available. They are greyed out and I cannot select any of them. Our AD User accout is correctly configured. Any ideas?  Thank you.
