HeyIs there documentation on the exact procedure for running the Windows Updates against the CommServe Windows Server. ie.Put CommServe in to maintenance mode. Stop all CommVault Services in Process manager. Run Windows updates. Reboot Server. Ensure all CV services are up and running.ThanksNeil

hi, i want to use a webhook for MS Teams to send our CV alterts directly to a dedicated MS Teams channels. The configuration seems easy. Within commandcenter i added the webhook url provided by MS Teams.Under Monitoring alerts i defined some “standard” definitions like:Backup Job suceeded to be sent to the webhook.No adaptions within the template were made.But in the webhook configuration it always shows me: Webhook offline (date) Has someone managed already a webhook integration with MS Teams and may share his insights, what changes to the standard configuration is necessary. thanks

Hi, I’m running 11.26.20. Download & sync cache is failing, files not found on downloadcenter.But when I check the packages, it stops at 11.26.18…..so how can I have 11.26.20……. (which now causes problems with the download & sync cache process)  

Hi we have a 3rd backup copy to Metallic cloud (we purchased 10TB)I specified 7 Days & 1 cycle so on the job logs i see 2 SYNTH FULL + INC (see attached)But this config takes a lots of storage on Metallic and i would like to optimize as its our 3rd copyI would like to keep only the last FULL backup (+ INC). So what would be the result if i specified 7 Days 0 Cycle, or is it another setting (or i m completely wrong :)) thanks  

hi everyone,after regular snapshot backup the Commvault doesn't delete snapshots.As of this moment, the snapshot capacity is above 22Twe are not working with IntelliSnap or some solutions, our vSphere version is 6.7u3I would be happy for any help or suggestion.thank you!

Hello, One of our client has Archive backup on tapes which is configured in one location and that type of infra is managed by local Commserve server. There is a question about the possibility of migration that Archive backup to AZURE. In the end client would like to get all archive backup in AZURE cloud with possibility of manage the backup from Commserve in AZURE cloud which is a different machine (Global solution for organization). And my question what will be the best approach for that migration and how to calculate the storage usage in AZURE for that migration process? Regards, Michal 

Hello everyone and thanks in advance for any hint.I’m running a Commvault V11Sp20 installation of the software and recently had a 6TB Oracle Database migrated from a stand-alone Oracle 12 DB to a three-node Oracle RAC 19 installation. Backups work properly and, “randomly” the three nodes are involved in backup jobs.Problem is: dedupe ratio is low.While the stand-alone data reached 95/97% of dedupe ratio, these backups for the Oracle RAC instances reach 40/65% of dedupe ratio. That is, a single Full backup takes something like 3TB of disk library (the very same disk library hosting the GDP previously used for storing the stand-alone Oracle DBs backups). Any hints about why the dedupe ratio is so low? Thanks in advance for your kind opinion. Regards

Hi,I have recently been asked if it is possible to restore SQL System Databases without restoring all User Databases in the same SQL instance?I thought this could be possible in CV however I cant find any way to do so via Web/Java console, only user Databases are listed when attempting to find master, model and msdb.. Any help or thoughts on this would be great appreciated.

Hello All,We have a customer data generated from 6 sites which is around 230 TB of size in total. Hi Community, This is for the workflow guys. I’m trying to implement something to automate a VM power on/off, the VM is VMware based (ESXi) and is an MA.I want my scenario to be something like this, when the VM is powered OFF :Check readiness of the VM. If the VM is powered off, then power it on. Execute my aux copy When job finished successfully, power off the VM.Some needed workflows required some inputs, that I struggle where I can find them, like the ones below :Any help or recommendation on how to implement this would be appreciated. Regards

Any advice to install a commserve on a linux host? We checked this article https://documentation.commvault.com/11.26/expert/132365_commserve_server_system_requirements_linux.html  and installed all packets and SW.We have tested to install on linux 8.4, 8.3 and 7.7 and the option to create a new commcell or install commserve never appears. We have also tested with version 11.25 and 11.26.  

Hello all, I have a question about my aux copy behaviour.We use S3 type storage on site for our backups and aux these to an private cloud provider. I’ve noticed that in the aux copies certain clients jobs will consistently be skipped. Initially I thought the issue was bandwidth as the aux copy never completed. We have improved the bandwidth and throughput is much better now, however the aux copies are still not completing. If I go to the secondary copy and show jobs (unticking time range and excluding “available”) I will have a number of jobs going back weeks, with none of the jobs from that client showing partially available (implying it is part way through copying). Interestingly, today I have started the aux copy with “Use scalable resource allocation” UNTICKED, and those old jobs have immediately been picked up and started copying.Anyone have any ideas why this would be? Hey all - can someone explain this statement in the Cloud Architecture Guide for AWS (page 29)?Do not utilize an on-premises MediaAgent to perform Auxiliary copy as Cloud egress costs (S3 Pricing >) will be incurred.We have customers doing this very thing and one is having an issue with high egress charges.  We are not sure that the charges are from Commvault but want to make sure.  The customer turned off data verification but that did not make a difference.  They are writing Oracle logs directly to the cloud library (instead of primary onsite) and are very tight on hard drive space and have a lot of index restores happening but I don’t see either of those things causing large Egress.  The index restores would come from the primary onsite copy.Can someone point me in the right direction on if there are other things with this aux copy that could cause egress?Thanks!Melissa

I’ve inherited commvault from our previous admin. They’ve done a pretty decent job about documenting some items but it hasn’t been updated in years.  We’ve been playing cat and mouse with backups and dealing with upper management not wanting to purchase more storage, and they want an easy answer on what is eating up all of our storage, what's being backed up, what's not, and why we would need a 500k storage upgrade. And obviously licensing is an issue as well.
