Hello Team,I would like to know all the cyber security features of Commvault backup solution for a tender I’m working on. Please do not just share the online links but I need an expert who has designed / implemented all the security features to give me a short summary on how to achieve following: In-line Malware Scan → How to achieve this while taking the backup from source?    In our case we are using two tier of storage Short-term for daily & weekly backup (Commvault HSX Nodes) & Long-Term for monthy and yearly (Object based storage or Tape) → What are the different and most effective way to achieve air-gap for both the storage tier.    Immutability is required for both short-term and long-term (planning to go with Commvault software immutability, since the hardware immutability increases the storage size too much) → What is the best practices to achieve immutability for two tier of storage.  

I am looking for stencils that can be imported into draw.io to build backup diagrams and environments for documentation purpose.Is this something Commvault has available to customer? If so, can you send a link for download please?Thank you

HelloDoes anyone know how to disable the automatic startup of the Hedvig services after a single node reboot? Disabling the CV services seems straightforward:But will this also prevent the Hedvig services from starting up automatically, or do I need to disable each of them individually?hedvigclogchk.service  hedvigdthrottle.service  hedvigfsc.service   hedvighblock.service hedvighealthcheck.service    hedvighpod.service  hedvigmntcheck.service   hedvigpages.service  hedvigswatch.service     Is there perhaps a cleaner or more efficient way to achieve this? ThanksMichael

Hi All, we have some vms with shared volumes. This is not support we know. But we have one question. We added scsi filter for all shared discs in the subclient filters so that only the local attched discs are backuped. But we still getting this event: scsi-1 Warning volume groups are not supported The job is shown as completed. Do you have an idear why the exclude is not working and the event vomes up ?

Hello,Following our upgrade to version 11.36.46 (from 11.32), we have observed an unusual behavior during the browse and restore operations. The file systems are being randomly mounted either on the configured FRE or on one of the HSX nodes designated for server backup.Since the HSX nodes are still running on RHEL 7.9, the browse operation fails for clients that are on RHEL 8.*.We likely wouldn't have noticed this issue if the browse operation hadn't failed. Is this the expecetd way the system operates ?   Thanks

I see that  update_subclient_filters_template.xml allows for specific VMs to be added to filters but can it also be used to remove them?  I tried changing  -vmFilterOperationType ADD to DEL or REM but no luck.

i have the commvault  v11.28.83. i want delete old backup from disk manually because of i have not empy space on my storage disk. the agging option is finishing works, but the disk space is not emptied.how to do it?

I have created a new subclient policy but instead of using this default subclient i created a new sublclient to take backup of only selected extensions and assigned to all 100 laptops.now when i created a schedule policy and assigned schedule policy to a laptop client group .the backup us being run for the default subclient as well as the new one which i created.i have disbabled default subclient from policy by “activity control” but still the schedule policy executes job for both and its causing lot of failures in my job and confusion during restore.raised case with support ( 250331-339) but they are not able to do anything from last 10 days. 

Hi, I’m having problems with a Commvault Oracle Data Guard configuration. I have a Data Guard pseudo-client which handles the backups for the environment which has 2 databases on 2 different hosts: dbhost01 and dbhost02. It is configured to run backups on the primary node. A few days ago a database failover happened (from dbhost01 to dbhost02), it was successful, so no issues with that, currently the primary database is on dbhost02.My problem is that since the failover the commvault backups cannot run, because it is still trying to reach the database on dbhost01 (which is shutdown). It sees that the database on dbhost02 is open, but does not even try to start the backup there.What is the correct way to configure this? The whole point of having this Data Guard configuration in Commvault is that we don’t have to modify anything in commvault when a failover/switchover happen, so I’m looking for a solution that provides this. Thank you for any t

Hello,Lately we’ve been seeing the “Error Code: [17:179]Description: Following errors occurred while scanning: [Failed to scan the content]” popping up on some of our Windows file system backups, causing them to fail. The subclients of said servers have no content specified, they backup everything. I’ve also tested with only backing up drive C:\ but the same error appears. When I check for the VSS state they all appear “Stable” and show “No error”. I’ve also tried running backup without the “System State” option just in case. Looking at the logs, I can’t really see a real reason as to why this would happen. Has anyone faced this issue before? Hi Team,I have a question.We have one file server and the server size around 25 TB. We have created 2 backup set for daily and monthly. Because the adhoc monthly full backup takes around 25 days to complete so we want incre data on the time so created another backup set called Adhoc_daily  and run daily on different storage policy. Both are running to Tape library directly. But the incre backup cycle considering old full for reference. So it there any other way to reconfigure this backup.

Hi,We’re trying to delete jobs thats having no data left in it. Since we have deleted all data within the subclient. In under the right storage policy viewing jobs we don’t get delete as an option in the rightclick menu.We’re running version 11.32.92 on prem.The subclient is a subclient of a Windows File System that’s been backingup data that should have been purge for several years ago.We’ve managed to delete the files backedup. But the jobs still exist in under the subclient.When trying to delete the subclient we get “The last cycle pertaining to [xxxx] subclient will be kept until those jobs are manually pruned. To confirm this action type …..How do we delete the jobs or prune them directly??

Hi Community ,I’m planning to transition from using storage policies to plans, which are currently configured in our environment.While plans are modern and aligned with future cv direction, I’ve noticed some limitations in flexibility that could influence the decision to continue with storage policies instead.For instance, in storage policies, I can configure multiple copies — say, a Primary and an Offsite copy — and assign different sets of clients to each. For example, 10 clients to the Primary copy and only 5 to the Offsite copy, based on requirements. I haven’t been able to find this level of granular control with Plans. When a plan is assigned to a client, it seems all associated copies are applied uniformly. Am I missing something here?Another concern is around scheduling. If I associate 100 clients to a single plan with one schedule, does that mean all 100 clients will initiate backups simultaneously? In many cases, specific clients require tailore

hi i am having issue nutanix ahv vm backup  , when i start the vm backup with 6 vm in the sublcient , the proxy going un responsive, i need to switch off the vm and on it again, i tried to run single vm backup at a time , it worked ,when i tried multiple vm , proxy machine went down, i changed the reader to 1 and ran the backup success  what could the be  the issue 

Hi Team, When I call the API below, I get the following output and according to this output, I think that the "enableDataSecurity":true information below actually shows the "Prevent Administrators from viewing or downloading your data" option in the CommCell Console interface. I checked it comparatively.However, there is a situation like this. In order to get this information, I need to get the clientId information for each notebook and get it one by one for each client.Since I backed up a lot of notebooks, it is not possible for me to do this one by one. Hi  We have multiple archive and cleanup policies, and we want to assign them based on Active Directory (AD) group membership. However, we’re encountering an issue where the default policy takes precedence, even when a user is a member of both the general group and a specific group.Our goal is to ensure that the policy assigned to the specific group overrides the general/default policy. How can we adjust the priority or enforcement logic so that users always receive the more specific policy when they belong to multiple AD groups

Before posting I reviewed the previous thread but it appears that this is from over a year ago.Need to report some documentation pages that are incorrect but I cant submit a feedback for that particular link because it is under “Expert” and support told me to raise a CMR which seemed not to be the right approach for a documentation review.​What is the proper direction for customers to request for a documentation review/fix? HI together,we are currently using a storage-policy that has an incremental storage-policy attached (for the incremental backups).When we created a plan this kind of setup is no longer possible via Command Center … but it was possible to attach a different (base) plan for the incremental backups via the Commcell Console. (11.32 and 11.36).Is this only working because we are on the lucky side … or is this intended? Is there any ”plan” to attach incremental “plans” via Command Center?Best regards.Michael

Commvault 11.321PiB of back-end data (compressed/deduped/stored size)Aux copying data from secondary copy of backup data.Four physical media agents on-premFour virtual media agents in Azure5Gbps ExpressRoute circuit from on-prem to AzureThere is about 20ms of latency between the physical on-prem MAs and the Azure virtual MAsWe have deduplication/DASH copy enabled.  We saw atrocious performance, from the start.  Seeing that 20ms of latency would certainly impact DDB look-ups on the virtual MAs, we turned on “Source Side Disk Cache” in the storage policy copy (we kept the default 8192MB cache size).  It’s running a little bit faster, but still pretty sluggish.Would we expect to see a further boost in performance by expanding the “Source Side Disk Cache” from 8192MB to ~128000MB?   That should further reduce the incidence of remote DDB look-ups on the Azure virtual MAs, right? Are there any other best p

Hello Community, We have that configuration: File server with DFS namespaces on Windows machine.  Archive solution with Windows File System Archiving on the same machine. and time to time, DFS service is blocked by Commvault  which stopped shared files to users. According to Microsoft investigation there is a file which working in the same time and can provided that issue: E:\System Volume Information\Commvault\Data Classification\dc_001.db-journalDoes someone have that type of problem? Is possible to move somewhere that DB from Commvault site, to not stop DFS service?Regards, Michal
