Hi,When we want to do Guest files and folder restore for a RH8 EFI client, but we do not see much to restore. Can this have something do that the FREL for download is CentOS 7?With BIOS instead of EFI we do not encounter this problem.In other words do we need to create a RH8 Media agent and convert it to a FREL? With an outcome unknown. Or is there is a simple solution? ThanksDanny

Hello, On my windows MAs or CS, I have a Commvault DynCache service, that’s listed in the Processes tab of the Process Manager, but not in the Services tab. When I select to stop all CV services, this one is never stopped.I have tried to look for information regarding this service/executable, to know what it is used for, but can’t find any information in docs, and Google has also none.So where’s the best place -outside of CV support- to have information on CV binaries ? You guessed it : over there, so any details about this would be greatly appreciated. 

Hi all, When creating a disk library on a media agent, I get the folllowing error message: Installation Directory lookup failed for given MediaAgent. Doesn’t matter if I select a local folder or a network location… We are running feature release 11.24… Anyone any idea where to look? Regards,Bart

SQL AON backup is configured and it is known that the DB backup runs via primary node and log backup runs based on the preference settings. It was running as expected.  However, when the failover happens at DB side primary becomes secondary and vice versa. But the SQL Backup Master is still pointing to the same old primary node.  How can we make the SQL backup master services to be rolled back to the new primary node.

Hi, I’m currently having a HyperScale X2.2 configure with two bonds (one DP, one SP) I will need to add another one, on a different network to create a DIP. What is the best way ? On the Linux prompt ./cvnwlacpbond.py -c -m 802.3ad -t sp -i 172.19.80.201 -f enpsf7 enps11 -n 255.255.255.0 ? Is it going to be an SP network or it needs to be and DP network or ? There is no default gateway on this network ! 

I’m in process of replacing a couple of Windows based Commvault A600 media agent appliances with Linux based media agents that are virtualized.  We downsized greatly and our backup needs are a lot smaller, plus the A600s are now EOL. I’m trying to gather all best practices for configuring the Linux MA, specifically regarding disk parameters (size, blocksize, alignment,etc.).  The A600s were originally built by an automated setup process built by Commvault out of box. I’m doing this all manually for the new build. My current MA houses about 10TB of data, which works out to an app size of about 45TB.  My DDB currently consumes about 30GB on disk.  Our needs will likely decrease over time vs increase. I plan to provide a single 12TB volume (64KB block size) for the library content and about a 100GB single volume (4KB block size) for the dedupe database. Is this OK?  The A600 is currently able to provide 150TB and the setup created multiple 9TB volumes for the content library.  I don’t kno

Team,From last 2 weeks we are observing performance issues with Vmware snapshot backup over SAN mode.vMware backup jobs are taking 2-3 days to complete , throughput has declined from 1 TB/hr to 50 GB/hr.The underlying backup library is healthy with no disk failures .I see in command center health report that disk pruning status as critical for global vmware deduplication policy . data aging is running on daily basis .How can i manually run pruning of DDB ? Is there any impact on running backup while pruning DDB manually. There is an option to validate and Also , what does Read, write and network % means in Average throughout which is very low .Average throughput 64.27 GB/hr(Read: 14.19%, Write: 0.83%, Network: 84.96%)Regards, Mohit

We are currently having Commvault setup in Amazon. To our customers we are having a cascading Network proxy. Commvault is setting up a tunnel from the Network proxy in amazon to the network proxy at our customer site.I would like to know what kind of traffic is being used between the two network proxies? (tunnel)Is it save to send this traffic over the internet without VPN? Thanks in advance!

I’ve configured File Archiving for a customer on a Ntapp NAS device.Everything is working correctly during a recall operation on all files that have been archived, except *.pdf files. When you try recall you get the below error:  You’ll click ‘OK’ and then try the recall a second time and it runs successfully and the file opens.Adobe Reader is the default PDF application on the user’s workstation. This is being noted on all user workstations.Any ideas on how to resolve this? Thanks.Mauro

Greetings!Attempting to apply a feature update going from 11.23 to 11.24 however the install has failed during the upgrade. The Setup installer displays the error code: [Error: Failed to update Web Server(WebServer) with error code 0x80091007] - a few of web searches seem to indicate that a possible hash mismatch may cause this error code - I have verified the authenticode signature of the underlying .msi file as valid.I have reviewed the install.log file and have not found any other reported failures or errors.Any advice or tips on where to look next would be appreciated

Hi There.I am searching for technical resources on how we setup an air-gapped environment.The idea is to have an isolated HSX cluster that we air-gap from the production HSX cluster and used only for Aux Copies long retention.I checked the online documentation and the internet on how CV achieve this with no luck. I want to use a VM as a network gateway proxy with blackout window and network topology. I just didn't find how we can automatically shutdown and power up the VM to isolate the air-gapped environment.Searched for workflow but couldn’t find anything relevant.Anyone did this before and if so how was it done ?ThanksAbdel

Hi,We have some issues with our use of our cloud backend (scality ring).When running backup or data verification the request send by the media agent create some peak of use on the juniper switch (QFX 5100). that causing drop of packet and in result in commvault error reading chunk. we have multiple bad chunk alerts.the network team ask us to set a limitation of the network bandwith to limit peak on juniper switch.how can it be possible to limit the bandwith between media agent and cloud librairies ?kind regards,

Can the CommServe installation created during Testing CommServe Failover Using Disaster Recovery (DR) Backups procedure be maintained after the test? Do I need to turn off the server or to shutdown Commvault Services?

Good evening all I've never upgraded a Service Pack in a LiveSync configuration. I know that you usually run the 'install updates' command on a secondary commserve with the 'do not update db' parameter. In a LiveSync configuration, do you install the Service Pack on each commserve and treat it as the primary during the upgrade or install via command line and 'do not update db'?  Thanks,Mauro

Hi,We are backing up PostgreSQL systems with block-level at customer site. We are doing individual db restore from commcell console but our customer wants to do this from command center. In Instances tab i can see PostgreSQL instances but in Databases tab it says no results found. Is it possible to see PostgreSQL databases in command center like MS SQL databases?Commvault version is: 11.20.60 Instances Databases​​​​​ 

@Ron Potts Looking through some documentation for Commvault, i have found what seems to be conflicting information, and would just like to have it clarified if site collection backups are supported or not.This documentation, under “Note” says “You cannot back up site collections.”Configuration Decision for SharePoint Server Agent (commvault.com) While this documentation says “Site Collection Backups Set: Full Backups” with a checkbox as supported.Supported Features - Microsoft SharePoint Server Agent (commvault.com) So if site collection backups are supported, can someone point me to the documentation on how to configure this correctly ? I’ve tried several variants, but none of them have worked, or atleast not done what i expected them to.
