Hello, I am trying to copy maintenance release to software cache but I have this error message. Copy hotfixes is skipped for [C:\Users\commvault\Downloads\Commvault_Maintenance_11_22_22_linux-x8664.tar] because the media is not available for it. I have copied the windows package without any issue. Also do you know where I can find all commvault error codes ? Thanks !
I’m using this example PS command from https://api.commvault.com/#432b936c-631e-da74-0678-5626f95dc944 to retrieve QSDK token I’m getting this error
If we have an existing DDB on a drive for a media agent and that drive gets encrypted with Bitlocker does that cause a problem? My thought is that it isn’t since all reads/writes are happening inside the server. There might be a performance penalty though. Or am I totaly wrong?//Henke
Hi Team, We are looking at a requirement to deploy an RHEV-compatible backup configuration on behalf of our customer.Although I have implemented plenty of ESX configs, this will be the first RHEV, so I have a few questions. 1 - Ports required to access the RHEV Manager host .Which ones do we need to open up?I can’t see anywhere in available documentation for any ports that I may need to open, but I’m thinking that there should be. I remember in ESX that 903 (or is it 902, ha!) needs to be open so I would expect this to be similar for RHEV. 2- The VSA Proxy - Does this introduce another Media Agent for us to manage? So if, or when we install the VSA client onto our RHEV vm, am I correct in assuming that will also install the Media Agent component? And if it does, we obviously have another server to manager and maintain patch levels etc etc. 3 - RHEL 7.7The vm’s are running at RHEL 7.7 which I think is XFS filesystem by default. What do we do if we need a granular restoration of a file?Do
Hello,I switched to a new licensing model ,I plan to back up the new system with a lot of mysql databases and add plenty of backup clients.Do I have to buy special licenses for mysql databases? Is there a sufficient number of clients included in my model...Now I have this:
I’d like to consult where to config “preferred setting” mentioned in “Select mount path for MediaAgent according to the preferred setting” option of the library properties? thank you in advanceBest regards
Hi !I’ve noticed a strange behaviour of a daily DDB incremental verification job, normally set to 30 readers, but getting much higher than this since a few days.. See below How can this be possible ? I thought that the limit was.. a limit So, what has changed ? Well, not sure it is related, but since sept9, I upgraded from v11FR21HP20 to v11FR21HP53, and no other change. The Gridstor of 4 hosting this DDB also host another DDB, whose verification job runs without getting (or printing only) the maximum 30 readers limits. That’s a bit annoying because the first job goes pending for a while with : Error Code: [19:1105]Description: No Resources Available. Please check the Streams tab for details. Of course no ressources are available, as it’s trying to allocated more than 30.. A few details about this job and blocks to process : Should I log a case or, have you already been used to such ?
Hi, Just to confirm. The File Activity Anomaly detection does not work in Linux clients. It works ONLY in Windows clients that have 11.23 or a more recent feature release. Right? The documentation cites two types of reports: File Activity Report for Backup Job Anomalies File Activity Report for File-Related AnomaliesOne of our File Activity Report in the Command Center have “No data available”. What can be done?
Many of our servers are using SAN volumes, so snapshotting those volumes from Hyper-V or VMware is not possible. We have installed the Windows File System agent on all those servers and are performing backups of the SAN volumes. Our SAN is connected to the hosts over fibre channel. Obviously it would be possible to connect one of our Commvault media agents to the fibre channel, present the volumes to it and then use the media agent to backup those volumes as a proxy. Is that advisable though? I can’t find any documentation on doing this...
Hi, we currently have a customer running HyperScale 1.5 Reference Architecture on SuperMicro hardware. They report that the OS disks are currently configured in RAID0. (details are already requested) They found out the hard way, and would like to change it to RAID1. Can anyone tell me what the (default) config options for the OS disks are? Hardware RAID, Software RAID, RAID1, RAID0? And also, what options would we have if we would like to reconfigure that to RAID1? Would it require a reinstall (I believe we can keep the Storage Pool data)? Or can we manually reconfigure to (software) RAID1, and is that supported? Thanks in advance!
Hi Team, We are about to upgrade our older version of Mongo, which has been causing a few problems with log-files ballooning out. Technically, we are all good with the upgrade process, but I actually don’t know what Mongo does in regards to the Commserve (thats where Mongo is installed). Does anyone know?It would be useful to understand, that in the unlikely event that the upgrade goes pear-shaped, then what functionality or impact to Commserve functionality might we encounter? That would also help in presenting the upgrade change to the customer, who will most likely ask “what is the impact if the upgrade goes wrong”, as they normally do. So if anyone knows, please shout-up! Thanks.
Hi, Yesterday I have updated to 11.24.12. But after installation, I found that it’s now showing my SLA is 28%. Missing SLA includes only the VMs and they are only 4-5 days old and backed up on weekly basis. If I am not wrong SLA period is calculated if there is no backup within 30 days. So is this a bug of this release 11.24.12? Thanks for your answer in advance. Sumit
Hello Community , We have windows 2008 R2 media servers with EMC disk library . We dont have enough space to do Move mount Path .
Hi All, we are trying to backup and very large cifs netaopp filer. We have implemented an NAS proxy for acessing the shares. When we start the job the scan phase broke every 3hours. We tested with an smaller folder / share the scan phase runs in 5 Minuts and the job starts to backup. Is there any additional setting to increase the timeout for the scan pahse ?
HiWill the Virtual Server Snapshot Agent support Hyper-V Storage spaces at some point in the future(Or is there some support at the moment? BOL indicates the Snapshot Engine for VSAs is only VMware VSAN/VxRail) Many thanks in advance
Hi Is there any document for best practice for backup policies for different databases, VMs and file system Regards
Hello ! A couple of days ago I updated the version V12.SP20 to V11.SP24 and installed a hotfix 12. Today I discovered that this hotfix 12 has disappeared from those available for download on the site https://ma.commvault.com/HotfixPacks?fv=11.0&sp=24. There is a problem ?
This is just a question about how we could have better way to rebuild MA. We have a windows based local ma and the data is aux copied to another media agent at a secondary site (different city); The RAID on the local MA was returning errors; so we replaced one of the faulty disk which caused the whole raid configuration to fail. We had to rebuild the whole virtual disk again. Unfortunately since there were only 3-6TB disks; everything OS/DDB/IndexCache/Libraries were in the same Virtual disk and we lost everything. Since we had a copy of the backup data at the secondary location; the quickest way was to rebubuild the MA. The RAID controller was not showing any error; and it was not feasible to send another MA to the site due to lockdown So we rebilt the virutal disk again; installed/upgraded OS to Windows 2019; kept the same hostname/ip configuration; installed Commvault agent and it made the MA online on Commserve. created index cache and DDB added the new mount path in the
Some facts:Version 11.24.7Sharepoint 2016 (on-prem)SP DB backup speeds: 15-25 GB/hr (So not superfast, but atleast it finishes in a reasonable time)SP Documents backup speeds: 1-1.5 GB/hr (So basicly superslow) Some background information:I am a storage guy, who’s recently been put in charge of the backup solution, due to people leaving. While i’ve worked some with other backup solutions before, thats 10+ years ago, so my backup skills are a bit rusty compared to my storage skills, so bear with me if i need things spoon fed :-)Also, the Documents parts of sharepoint have been split up in about 10 different subclients, and this performance issue is affecting all of them. Also, for other backups being run by Commvault, i see very different backup speeds. For instance full backups of some MSSQL servers can provide speeds of 500-3000 GB/hr, so i know the backend of the backup solution can handle a lot higher speeds than what Sharepoint is giving us. Now, if i try to drill down a bit on one
Please help me to understand commvault media agent with deduplication
We want to use space on an SSD for a new DDB (horizontal scaling) and the old DDB is not being used. It only has jobs with long term retention as it was used for file archiving(onepass). The onepass jobs are not active anymore. Data only needs to be restored. If Commvault doesnt need the DDB for restores, how can I get rid of the DDB as we dont have any backups running.Sealing could be an option. However BOL mentions:The sealed DDB is automatically deleted only after all the jobs (with their data block signatures stored on the DDB) are aged or deleted and the corresponding volumes are deleted from the disk.So the DDB is required for purposes other than the backup. https://documentation.commvault.com/commvault/v11/article?p=12591.htmFor now we will be moving the partition to a different drive. Any ideas?
