Hi All. I have a question regarding restore of data which resides on a offsite private cloud where clients have no access. Setup is:On prem Client network with servers in backup.→ Firewall in between with port open for backup traffic.On prem Backup network with MediaAgents and storage.→ Firewall in between with port open for aux copy data.MediaAgents with offsite private cloud storage containing Aux copies of client data. Clients do not have access to the offsite MediaAgents/copy, so my question is, how do I make a restore of data from the offsite cloud, when the On prem clients and the offsite MediaAgents cannot talk to each other directly? Is it possible to route restore traffic via the on prem MediaAgents acting as a proxy some how? Would the network gateway via outgoing routes be the solution?  Any suggestion would be appreciated. Thanks for helping.-Anders

Hello, I am facing an issue where SSO is not working for webconsole :|Setup that I have: 2 commcells, 1 centralised webconsole/metrics host. Web console is attached to master commcell and 2nd commcell is a child commcell attached to webconsole.So, if I am logging into webconsole server itself and to try open webconsole page - it is asking for credentials. I believe it should not due to the fact both commcells have the account in users. I am logging into commcell itself with that account and SSO with no issues.So I was browsing logs on webconsole host and found this: But within the commcel, SSO is enabled in domain controller settings: Maybe someone knows the magic trick to fix this?

HI ThereIHAC that will use exagrid as backup storage with Commvault.Exagrid states that they can add to Commvault deduplication to obtain a higher dedup ratio (up to 20:1 for long term retention data).I couldn’t find any information on Exagrid on BoL and my understanding was that we do not use CV deduplication when using a deduplication storage as primary target.Did anyone implemented CV with Exagrid ? and if so any specifics/culprit or best practices ? ThanksAbdel

Is there any way to provide filters for Alerts and Events that are forwarded to syslog?  I’d like to at least be able to filter out Information events to eliminate noise to syslog which is then uploaded into splunk (at least for our company.

Applying New license file in commcell :i have below doubts:Can we apply New comvault license files directly in License page?will it impact active backups?do we need to restart comvault services?i hope nothing will happen, just to make sure i am clear on these part.

Hello All,I am from TSM background and when VTL was introduced in TSM, the scratch tapes were not automatically deleted in VTL. Later, RELABELSCRATCH parameter was introduced and it allows to automatically relabel volumes when they are returned to scratch. I remember that specific settings we have do in Backup Exec and HP data Protector  backup software too.→ I want to know whether any similar setting is there in Commvault?More details as per TSM perspective → Virtual Tape Libraries (VTLs) maintain volume space allocation after Tivoli Storage Manager has deleted a volume and returned it to a scratch state. The VTL has no knowledge that the volume was deleted and it keeps the full size of the volume allocate. This can be extremely large depending on the devices being emulated. The doc site does not cover most of the parameters above. Is there a parameter providing for changing the physical datafile name and the physical logfile name? Looking for a NORECOVER option when restoring SQL DB with powershell.Not possible with this cmdlet.Is there another way?

Hi, In case of a ransomware attack (which I hope will never happen), what is the best way to determine what is the last good backup on disk that I have and that is suitable for restore (not encrypted by hackers or contaminated by malware)? Do I need to do a restore in an isolated environment and then run antivirus until I have found the last “good one” ? Or is there a better way? I have heard that malware can already be on servers weeks before the actual attack or whatever. Thanks

Hey Commvault Community. We are an MSP provider running a VMWare Cluster to host our Clients.The environment has an NSX so each client has their own network that is managed. Basically from the documentation and my calls with support we don’t have a a solid solution to doing App-Aware backups. I was wondering if anyone else has gotten a similar setup where they have App-Aware backups working?

Still the joy of seeing a commvault restore progress:  while in reality the first one has been completed for 40% and the second one for 10% (getting this from CV logfile on the client!!!)

We have a physical server running CV 9 that we, unfortunately, need to keep running. In an effort to protect ourselves as much as possible, we have P2V’d that server into vmware. When the VM came online, I was able to recover backed-up data from its media agent… but when I tried to backup NEW data to that same media agent, I got an error: “Failed to mount media [name] with mount path [location] on media agent [MA name]. Folder1 already exists. Choose a new mount path.” Or something very like that. The mount paths on the media agent are its drives E, F, and G.That media agent had been working fine on the physical server.I don’t really understand why this problem should exist simply because we’re using a VM now.I’m happy to answer any questions about this machine. I’m hoping someone may have a clue as to why recoveries work, but backups don’t.

Hey,I'm trying to backup a Mysql instance on a linux machine but for some reason I cannot submit the changed username for the backup.I’ve installed mysql agent on the linux machine but I need to change the SA username as its different from the agent install user.I’ve gone to Client computers » client name » MySQL » right click on mysql instance » properties » accounts » change » input my username and password » OK.My issue is that I cant click on the second ‘OK’,its just does nothing.Thanks in advance

Hi, I am doing a CC Migration and need to migrate a few clients at the time. I have done this a few times before but I cannot remember the CS Client turning up in the list of Clients during the import in the target Commcell. I cannot find this described or explained in the documentation. Is this expected behaviour?  I need to be sure there is no impact on the source Commcell that must remain operational as this is a large production Commcell.  Both Commcells are 11.20.67/Patrik

Hi,I have a strange behavior with Commvault and Intellisnap. We trigger Netapp Snapshots with Commvault Jobs. These Snaps are not copied to Commvault Library. Reason: We have a 2-Node Netapp Metrocluster in Place and a third Netapp with async Snapmirror syncronisation to keep the History of Snapshots there (so this is kind of a Backup Storage for the Metrocluster).We use Commvault only for triggering Snaps and for restores from these snaps. But Data is kept on Netapp with Snapshots. So this way our Service Desk personell needs only one GUI to restore Backups from Netapp and from all other kind of Backups we store in Commvault Library.Since about 3 Months I observe the following problem: When you browse a Netapp Snapshot Job with Commvault, you don’t see all Folders. When you browse the same Snapshot with Windows Explorer using ~snapshot after the UNC path, everything is there and you can restore it with no problem.Any idea why the Folders are not visible in Commvault Job browsing? Hi, EveryoneI have this issue on different servers i tried to uninstall commvault agent on. The issue, the commserve hostname on the Process Manager is “DISABLED”. i had gone to the registry to remove the DISABLED and changed the FLAG to 0. The server could not still be seen by COMMSERVE. I resorted to uninstalling the agent completely from the server, during the process of uninstallation, it writes ‘FAILED TO UNINSTALL FAILED MSI’. How do i solve these problems, please? 

Hi all. Tried to find information about support of Windows server 2022 in Commvault. Anywhere to find the list of supported agents, MediaAgents etc. Or can you confirm that Windows server 2022 is supported by Commvault. Thanks-Anders
