Question about changing job results directory on O365

Good morning Team, for a customer, I should change the shared job results directory for O365 (Exchange, Sharepoint and Onedrive pseudo-clients).The actual job results is shared with n. 2 access nodes.If I change the shared job results path, the FIRST next O365 jobs will be Full backups? or will be they forever incremental again? The second question is: will the actual data of the old job results directory be automatically copy to the new one? or is necessary to copy the data manually on the new job results directory once changed the path from the Command center? Thank you very much for your help.Regards. Stefano

Data Pump Export utility (expdp) to export the data from the Oracle database

is it included in the commvault oracle backup phase , or if a customer want to export and backup this is there anyway to be done it with commvault , instead of backing up the  dumb saved location

just upgraded to 11.28 and started getting this WARNING s3 bucket

Can someone help explain what this means to a rookie commvaulter.  We just upgraded to 11.28 and I notice we are getting the following WARNING:Program - CVMA  Description - WARNING: The S3 bucket [cvcloudbackup] is versioning enabled, but the current credential may not have s3:ListBucketVersions permission to list versioned objects for deletion.Im guessing something has changed within 11.28.x version? or ?  thanks - BC

Easy way for users to upgrade their standalone Java consoles?

In the past I believe (after upgrading the commvault environment, commserve/media agents, etc) a standalone java console would prompt “download and install updates?” and then the user would click “yes” and it would upgrade itself.  I’m on 11.24 and my standalone consoles are just throwing up a pop up saying basically ‘the console is behind. upgrade your console’. The console still runs after hitting “ok”, but its rather annoying.In the past (if a console would not auto update when launched) I would have to manually build a package with an installer tool, copy it to the client machine, and then run the upgrade.Is there a way for users to “upgrade the console themselves” through the Java UI ( or a setting that will cause the console to auto upgrade if needed?) without having to build an installer/upgrade package and send it to them?

Change mount path after mirroring backup data using NetApp

We have multiple backup data libraries (50TB+ each), we have mirrored one using storage mirroring techniques (NetApp). We’re planning on going into maintenance mode and changing the library mount path to new location after syncing and breaking mirror relationship.  Is there anything we’re missing or need to be aware of when modifying library backup data paths?

Command Center - Database Tab - Filter question

Good morning,When browsing databases, protect->databases->Databases tab up top.  I’m filtering for Type= SQL server.  It’s displaying SQL server, Postgres, and MariaDB as well.  Has anyone seen this behavior?  Seems like a bug.  We are on 11.30.36.Thank you

Hyperscale 1.5 OS upgrade

HiWe want to upgarde Hyperscale 1.5 OS current 7.7 to latest 7.9 and we have follow following URL Installing Operating System Updates on Existing Nodes (commvault.com)Initially it failed due to to able to download OS upgrade from Commvault site during creation of remote cache, then we have fixed download and downloaded. Now we running script  “./cvupgradeos.py” and getting following error, how we can make RPM query complete “Previous software download and rpm query job was not successful. Please ensure that RPM query completes successfully before running OS upgrade”  Thanks

Oracle Automatic Schedule on FRA Percetage

Hi,I’m trying to configure an automatic schedule for archive logs, We’ve configured the automatic schedule as the following screenshot: We would like to know if that percetage is associated with the disk utilization and if its possible to configure with the FRA utilization, for example, when the FRA is 70% Full run an archive logs full backup.We’ve testes and doesn’t seems to run the backup but a second opinion would be great. Best regards and thanks in advanced.

Rebuild Commserv instance

Hi All, In one of our customer site, “cvd.exe” file got removed (We suspect anti-virus software for this). We couldn’t repair the instance as it gives errors due to “cvd.exe” file being missing. Since the CSDB is ok and fine we did a failover to the DR commserv and operations are continued. Now we want to do an instance (instance 001) only restore for the commserv. We couldn’t find any documents regarding this kind of rebuild. Can anyone help us with a proper documentation link or steps.

Does placing the system-created ddb backup within a deduplication storage policy have any effect?Or is it preferable to set the storage policy of a system-generated ddb backup to no deduplication policy?

How to add new AD group to have certain permission to clients in buik using CLI.

Hi, I have a list of 100+ clients in commvault. I will need to add new AD groups to existing permission role for these clients in security tab at both client level and file system level. Does anyone know how to use CLI to do it instead of going through GUI one by one?Once I have this CLI command I can put together something in Excel and run them in bulk. I know I can create a client group and add permission in this way but in our environment we have to do the change on clients. Kind regards,Boyi

Windows File Server Archiving using the Command Center

Good day Community, I did Windows file server archiving in the past using the CommCell Console. But now, using the Command Center, get’s me so confused.I’m not talking NAS, but simple Windows Servers. Which packages should be installed, and where? Do I install packages on the Windows server itself? Do I just use a MediaAgent as an Access Node? In this case which packages on the MediaAgent? And to make sure that stub recalls work for people having a mapped drive on the Windows server?I try to understand BOL (Essential) and can’t figure it out, and been spending hours in labs not able to make it work. :-(If someone could go over the high-level steps would be AWESOME!And just in case, is DFS still not supported for archiving?Thanks in advance.

1 Touch system state backup failed

I have an Oracle Linux 7.9 system that was configured with 1 touch and ive done a BMR on different hardware (same configuration) with a new IP and hostname and also selected the option to clone.  The one touch restore/clone went well on the other server however, a full 1 touch back up on the original is now throwing an error and Im unsure what I can do the rectify the issue.The specific message I receive is:Error Code: [6:966]Description: System state backup failed : [Failed to create a tar archive containing /tmp/initrd.img /boot/vmlinuz-5.4.17-2102.201.3.el7uek.x86_64 /tmp/ARCH /tmp/binfmt /tmp/ver ]Source: Hostname, Process: sr when i look at the server, initrd.img doesnt exist in /tmp.  Neither do the subfolders /ver or ARCHIve tried to reinstall/repair the client on the original machine, but it has not helped.  Any ideas what i can do to get a full backup of the original machine as its still in production and has had some chanages that need to be backed up.TIA for any help!

Restore NDMP files&folders cross-platform

Hello, We have some data/volumes/svm backed up from Netapp using NDMP protocol. Data was baked up when CS was v11 FR24. Meanwhile the data was migrated to a new Dell Unity NAS device. We have in backup as well the "new” migrated data using NDMP protocol (CS v11 FR28/2022e), while the old SVM on Netapp was decommissioned. I need to restore cross-platform some files/folders from NDMP Netapp backed up v11FR24 into NDMP Dell Unity backed up now via v11FR28. The idea is i do not have the option to select as destination any Dell Unity device (so nothing in the drop down menu as an option for Destination where to restore, only some bunch of unix/windows servers). Is this type of restore supported? i remember in the past that i did it (Netapp to dell, but fr24 to fr24), not so sure though and i might be wrong. Any thought/hint on this it will be highly appreciated! Thank you!

Hi All, our security team ask me if its possible to install the trend micro av software on the frel. We used the ova template from comvmault. If its okay to install the av agent are the normal excludes for an mediaagent under linux enough or did we need more excludes ?

just upgraded to 11.28.x commcell "Event Viewer" no longer shows bkup jobs completed

Hello we just upgraded to 11.28 maintenance release 63 and I have noticed that the commcell EVENT VIEWER - ALL Events is no longer displaying “program-JobManager” backup jobs like it use to when we were on 11.24.x.   It does list in the event viewer when the DR jobs runs or if there is are fail logins etc but no longer displays the completed backup jobs.Backup jobs are running successful as I can in the “command center” they have completed successful Any thoughts on why this is happening.  Im still consider myself a rookie commvault user. ThanksBC

Total Data Size on Disk is zero

Newly created DDB engines shows application size as 800 TB and Total Data Size on Disk as zero.Same issue with few newly created DDBs. we are on V11.28.56

Office365 Backup Health Report

Hi All, we are using the report Office365 Backup Health for tracking our O365 Backups.  Actually we get daily 4 Mails for ech type ( Exchange, Onedrive, Sharepoint, Teams ) this is stupid :) The report is good an short. I´m looking for an option to bring alle types into 1 pdf.  I trried to edit the report to click and drop everything into the main page but doesnt work.  Do you have an idear ?

index v2 upgrade workflow oracle clients above oracle 8

example of versions for oracle.hi, a customer of ours was trying to upgrade all clients to indexing V2.but the for oracle it only states that oracle 8 and Rac are supported. (or that is how i am reading it) so my question is can we upgrade later versions of oracle with this workflow? regards, Thos Gieskes.

Azure Replication / Sync failed

Hi! We are trying to replicate an Azure VM to a storage account located in a different region. Backup of the virtual machine worked, but when trying to use the “Replicate now" prompt, replication fails due to a sync error. Further investigation into the replication group/VM showed the error “One of the disks exceeds the maximum allowed size for an Azure VHD page blob". Is there a way to work around this? Specially that we are planning to replicate even larger capacity VMs. Any help is greatly appreciated

nFilterApplicationFiles additional setting for Oracle

I have installed the commvault client on the server, and configured the oracle DB (well, ‘SAP for Oracle… which is supported for this setting). I set the nFilterApplicationFiles to 1, then backed up the database, then the filesystem. It appears that Oracle DB files are being backed up by the filesystem.  The docs are a little unclear...Excluding Database Application Files from a UNIX File System Backup (commvault.com)indicates for Oracle: “The following files are excluded when you set the additional setting on an Oracle client:The Oracle datafiles that the software displays in the CommCell Console Oracle browse pane.”There is only 1 database in this Oracle instance, it's a large part of the total server footprint, and I’m seeing Data related DB files in the filesystem backup when I browse the filesystem backup ( I took after discovering and backing up the Oracle database instance) so I’m not sure how I’m going to ‘know” its being excluded.Question:Are the “The Oracle datafiles that the
