Hi there,Having an issue with a client where their tape media is not being seen by Commvault. In the process of renewing support, but it’s rather urgent so wanted any troubleshooting tips in the meantime. They’ve reset the library, done various scans, recreated the client with a different name, and tinkered on the library itself (HP autoloader w/ LTO-7) to confirm the tapes are seen by that.Tapes show up on the autoloader fine, but aren’t being seen by CV, still missing “Media in Library”.What could be the issue? Any tips are appreciated :)
Hi Team, I’m starting some preliminary research into an eventual OCI migration.Can someone please point me in the right direction so I can research this. I need to try and understand :- 1 - How do we hook into the OCI databases?2 - Are there different variations on OCI backups? For example, I see a section on the VSA agent and how to configure that, as seen here:-https://documentation.commvault.com/v11/essential/121700_guided_setup_for_oracle_cloud_infrastructure.html But are there other methods of backup? I am still in the process of gathering more information on the OCI config side of things, but I am keen to see what we can do from a Commvault perspective. Thanks in advance …..
We seem to run into multiple problems in our new HSX environment. Metadata disk d2 silently filled 100% on one of three nodes, data disks are all 90-95%, but in GUI only 550 of 720TB are shown as used. Not a single alert for this, all green in GUI. An then there is disk d22 / sdv on one node that failed a few weeks ago and was replaced together with support. Good morning,I manage a DBA team and we’ve only been granted access to the command center. Our storage admins don’t want to give us access to the java console out of security concerns. My understanding is that the java console doesn’t grant us *any* additional permissions, but does provide some advanced functionality that would be very useful to us.Have any of you ran into this? Do other DBA/Apps/etc teams have access to the command center GUI and the java console? We have MS SQL, Oracle, Postgres and Mariadb here.Thanks!

Hello, Can anyone help to review the issue i am getting with VM backup. Everyday almost on the same time i am getting The vsbkp agent on [xxxxx] has disconnected warning. We are using 4 RHEL8,7 MediaAgent. And vsbkp agent get dissconeted on all MA's but not on the same time. Which logs can i best to review to find the issue? Or what logs shall i uploade here to review ?
Hi, I need some info about the usage of HPE StoreOnce as a disk library. Something like this:https://documentation.commvault.com/11.24/expert/102869_add_hpe_catalyst_storage.htmlCurrently we're using one HPE StoreOnce catalyst store for a disk library. This gives us some single point of failure issue and we need to try and remediate this. So I would like to know what options there is. Like could we have a disk library with catalyst stores from multiple HPE StoreCnce boxes? Like a grid consisting of 4MA's with storage from 4 HPE StoreOnce. So in case there's some issue/maintenance we take down one HPE StoreOnce box at a time and backups will continue to run.

Our new SAN for CommVault Disk library is Dell PowerScale H7000 OneFS, the library in production is NetApp 2750. We use Windows 2019 MA and ISCSI LUNS on NetApp. Since PowerScale H7000 doesn't support iSCSI LUNS and Sealing DDB or Creating new Disk Library > Global DDB > New Primary is not the preferred path. Is it possible to create new path on current disk library the path on SMB share on DELL OneFS and disable the writes on all local ISCSI path’s with option checked “Prevent data block references for new backup” we could do this to all local disk at once or gradually. Our retention is 90 days on this SP. So could I delete those paths after jobs age out and continue using path on SMB share.

Hello Commvault Community, I would like to understand how the SLA status logic works and possible changes for the days criterion in the Plan. We noticed that when the SLA Status is set to 30 days, for example, the virtual machines have a "Met" status, but if we change the days criterion to a different one, the SLA Status for each of the virtual machines changes to "Excluded". Initially, even when returning to the previous setting of 30 days, the SLA Status still indicated "Excluded", but we assumed that it must reload and in fact after 24 hours the status changed to "Met".By way of further tests, we changed the days criterion to 37 days and after 24 hours, the SLA Status for virtual machines is still "Excluded". I want to understand how the whole mechanism works and according to what rules, because I didn’t find a direct answer to these questions in the Commvault documentation. Hello,This question is specifically aimed at the 1-Touch recovery process for an IBM i client, but may be applicable to other client types.The save of the system portion (SAVSYS) will create up to nine [4.27GB] ISO image files that are then individually ‘burned’ to DVDs for use by the 1-Touch Recovery process. The first ISO image file [DVD] will be used for the initial boot of a system, with the remainder of the ISO image files used for the install of the base operating system and other objects that will get the system to the stage where it can communicate with CommVault to complete the restore of the entire system.With this many ISO image files it is quite cumbersome and time consuming having to burn nine ISO images to DVD. Hello fellow Commvault users,I have a question regarding the upgrade of Commvault from v10 to v11 while also migrating from Windows Server 2012 to Windows Server 2016. I am seeking to determine the best course of action for this process.Option 1:Start by formatting the server and upgrading it to Windows Server 2016. Perform a Disaster Recovery to restore Commvault v10 after the OS upgrade. Finally, proceed with the upgrade to Commvault v11.Option 2:First, update Commvault v10 to v11 while the server is still running on Windows Server 2012. Once the Commvault upgrade is complete, format the server and update it to Windows Server 2016. After the OS migration, recover Commvault using the Disaster Recovery process.I would greatly appreciate your input and feedback on which option you believe is the most efficient and reliable for upgrading Commvault and migrating the OS. Is it possible to do this at all, or will you have to cycle through all the IDs and unload them piece by piece and slowly?
Use case:I have enabled Object lock on the Cloud storage bucket (Hitachi Content Platform for Cloud Scale (S3)).Enabled WORM on Commvault and set the retention for the storage policy.Result: Once the data is backed up I am able to delete the data manually in the Hitachi Content Platform for Cloud Scale (S3) bucket.Does Commvault does not leverage Object lock ?Also Can we enable Object lock on Hitachi Content Platform for Cloud Scale (HCPCS) and WORM on Commvault or its Either or case.
With a Tape Library of 8 Drives, I wanted to force the Tape Aux Copy to a single Drive This will be for only one Storage Policy XYZ (out of 30 or so SP’s) and for only a single Storage Policy Copy ABC (within SP XYZ) There are multiple Tape Storage Pools set up eg POOL-N, POOL-O, POOL-P, … POOL-X Storage Policy Copy ABC used POOL-XI had hoped that setting the Device streams to 1, but this still results in multiple drives being used If I run a manual AUX Copy, for Storage Policy XYZ, for copy ABC and set the number of readers to 1, that works fine - as I’ve limited the stream to 1 ‘at the source’’, meaning there can never be more than 1 stream at the target - and therefore 1 tape used I could create new AUX Schedules an change the AUX Job options for just that schedule and apply that schedule to to just the AUX Copies where I want to use a single DriveBut that will be messy I could also limit the stream to 1 (combine stream) on the disk source copy that then feeds
