I did a fresh installation of FR28/Commvault 2022E today. Can anyone tell me why we have now a Sharepoint agent installed on the Commserve? The Windows 2019 was also a fresh install with no extra components, so I’m a little bit confused…
Hey Vaulter, We have larger clients in terms of size, its very difficult to look each restore requests. Is there any solution easily user can access the backup data and restore in their location or specified folder same way DLP how Edge Window able to restore from their own for WFS Backup? Waiting for solutions :) Regards,SK
Hi just to check do our media agents have load balancing mechanism or intelligence ? Cause in a large and scalable environment , sometimes it does not make sense to manual manage in in event of failure for any MA. I know we can configure alternate path but customer is looking at more than that . They are looking at auto balance capability within MA like our VSA.
So I just tried posting a very straight-forward question and it got held pending review because I somehow managed to use words that are on a hiddent “blocked words list”. That is annoying and truly user hostile. I expect that this post will also be blocked pending review of the use of hidden, uknown, naughty words.Dear CommVault - you are not serving your customers by engaging in this form of thought policing. Please stop it. Alternatively post clearly your list of naughty words so we can work around them. Thanks,Ron
In CommCell Console, in the control panel, in the Data part, when selecting Replication, the option “Enable chaining for Windows continuous data replicator agents” appears. Does anyone have more information about this action and what happens if I disable it? Than you.
Hello, We’ve recently been testing LiveSync and one of the tests we did was to turn off the primary test server (unplanned failover) and see if it would automatically start to failover onto the secondary test server, which it didn’t and we manually started the failover.I was wondering if this is a feature which is being looked at potentially by Commvault in the future. Many Thanks, Craig
Hi all, when I perform a restore from Commvault with a user configured as "sysbackup" I get a "logon denied" error: #******DATA RESTORE SCRIPT******#run {allocate channel ch1 type 'sbt_tape' connect user/33c75edba964cf91c4a814f4b013056c1f391bec0d266622e@CDB021_BCKPARMS="SBT_LIBRARY=/opt/commvault/Base/libobk.so, BLKSIZE=1048576 ENV=(CV_mmsApiVsn=2,CV_channelPar=ch1)"TRACE 0;#******** READINESS REPORT *********# Agent Install Check:[OK] Database Check:[FAILED] Oracle reported the following error: ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied. RMAN SBT Channel Check:[FAILED] [ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied] RMAN Catalog Check:[OK] Destination Storage Check:[OK] I believe the problem is in the Rman script. In fact, in the restore Rman script there is no "as sysbackup" as in the backup script: CONFIGURE CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP ON;run {allocate channel ch1 type 'sbt_tape' connect 'user/33c75edba964cf91c4a814f4b013056c1f391bec0d266622e@CDB021_BCK as sysbackup'PA
I have this issue with our VM Error opening the disks for virtual machine [NSVM]. Verify that the correct transport mode is selected. See. I have tried all I could. Not until I had to use this option of intellisnap,It works but the challenge here is I used the ESXI virtual machine as a snap engine it worked but the issue is once it finished doing backup of that virtual machine it doesn't delete the snap from the VM I have what setting I can implement to achieve this.
Hi I have a customer that has linux and aix hosts in their environment and they have lots of small files within these 2 filesystems. Currently , they have HDS G500 as their underlying storage. As they are experiencing slow backup and restoration for their current veritas solution , hence i decided to propose intellsnap as part of the competitive take out value proposition. We know that intellisnap helps to create app aware snapshots. IntelliSnap extends beyond just creating or deleted snapshots/clones. Secondary operations are automatically mounted to a proxy server which will mount the snapshots/clones for further processing, whether that is further indexing or cataloging of the data or creating longer term copies of the data to deduplicated disk, cloud copies, or tape. This content aware process provides rapid recovery options whether a full system recovery or a single file is required.Question is once we are done with the intellisnap , can we do image backup which translate to faster
I have four MA in prod, (partitioned ddb) with 3 installed in the E; drive. which is the standard here. I have a couple dozen other configured the same.one of the four is installed in C; drive and must be re-installed to E:. (for scripting purposes)Any recommendations? TIA Yan

When i tried install software. the file system and core is already greyed out. i want the file system to appear again like this.
Hi All, Greetings for the day!Currently we are using Microfocus data protector backup tool with HPE Storeonce catalyst now we planning to move the clients to commvault. As per my understanding restoring the third party tool we require the stage server with commvault migration components then access the third party tool and select the client then restore into commvault. Please correct me if i am wrong
Hello,In my environment, v11.24.34, i have Ransomware Protection enabled on all of my Media Agents. My Security Team have asked me is it possible to test the integrity of the backups prior to restoration to be confident that it is free from malware. Thanks in advance for your responses.RegardsFergus
I have 7 ComCell servers, prefer to generate worldwide backup success rate report for each ComCell on one table. Only found backup success rate report per storage policy, anyone could help?
We have Microsoft System Center Operations Manager monitoring our Commvault media agents.Periodically they trigger a memory pages per second alert. The default threshold for the SCOM alert to be triggered is the number must value must exceed 5000 for 12 samples 5 minutes a part. These go away after awhile so I assume it is some specific activity or job that triggers this. We get the alerts on pretty much all of our media agents. Our media agents have partitioned global DDB’s on each of them and they process most of our backup jobs. We four media agents for our primary site and two at our offsite location that we Aux Copy all of our jobs (storage policy copies) to the pair offsite. The basic Microsoft product knowledge states the alert typically occurs if you are swapping to PageFile to frequently and it can indicate that you do not have enough RAM.In our case we have 64 GB of RAM on each media agent and the PageFile is set to system managed but it is currently only 4 GB in size and n

Does anyone know if it’s safe to delete the “OneTouch” folder (or just it’s contents) from a Windows CommVault agent installation? One of our servers is running low on space and I can see that the OneTouch folder is occupying over 4GB. It contains over 1,200 old folders, and every folder contains these three files:DiskShadowOutputSource.txt DiskshadowScript.txt ExportedFirewallConfig.wfwI’ve searched online and couldn’t find any references to the OneTouch folder or the above files, so I’m unsure if these are safe to get rid of. Also, it would be good to know why these folders are generated, and if they’re only temporary, why doesn’t CommVault delete them automatically? Should I create a Scheduled Task to delete these folders on a regular basis?Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!
Can the value of the Size of Application field from Backup Job Details be changed while the job is running (after Scan phase)?
SPFarm backup with 7 servers; just continuing the conversation https://community.commvault.com/topic/show?tid=3126&fid=2 as I could not edit it. there is no requirement for granular recovery just DR to a different siteI have already installed SP agent on the App server and chosen the correct SQL ida to protect the content databases. However, I just want to confirm that we have need to install additional 5SP agents on the 5 servers to just capture the WFE data; would WFE data not get captured if we install SP agent only the client to which pseduo clientThe current setup is: FS IDA on all 7 servers : SP Agent on all 7 servers; SQLIDA on the SQL serverAs per doc: In DR event https://documentation.commvault.com/11.24/essential/105771_full_system_recovery_of_sharepoint_server_agent.html-Restore 7 servers using onetouch (FS IDA)Restore SP Farm via the client(app server) (I presume this automatically restores the content databases and apps)Restore the WFE backup back to the same client
Hello, is there a best practice guide if I want to separate a Commvault web server from the CommServe. I want to outsource the web server to its own VM. And another problem I would like to solve is the accessibility after a failover. We have a problem in our production environment that the web/admin console is not available after failover. In the production environment, the web server was disconnected from CommServe from the beginning. Kind RegardsThomas

Hi,My customer having issue where they claim suddenly they have prob to login to console due to 2 way authentication enable. It cannot send the email to the respective user. Anyway that can be done to disable the 2 way authentication without access to console? Refer attached picture for reference.
If we back up a 3000 user with 40TB Exchange data, what would be the expected storage usage taking into account deduplication and compression, with one year retention?
