Hello,I did failover with CommServe LiveSync. The failover was ok.When I try to fail back to the other site, it fails, and I get an error message on the logs.Assistant () - Executing command [C:\Program Files\Commvault\ContentStore\Base\CSRecoveryAssistant.exe].Preparing to launch process: <C:\Program Files\Commvault\ContentStore\Base\CSRecoveryAssistant.exe>. We have a Dell Isoilon storage cluster hosting smb shares which are configured as libraries in Commvault The SQL backup to the libraries seem okay again we are using DDB and the stats say write load 40% DDB lookup 15% and network load 40% for backups; however the throughput is 660GB which is irrelevant although unique data of 34 GB took over an hour also there are 4 objects during the backup so I suspect it had used multiple streams during backup however when doing the restore of a single database; it took over 31 hours and looking at the logs the culprit is slow reads; can I increase streams during restore when restoring just 1 DB ; also given the issue is stemming at reading and everything looks fine at Dell Isolion side (cpu memory etc); I had paused all the other jobs what shall I do next may be a read test?   CVPerfMgrRestore.log:19611: |*27612*|*Perf*|11076969|     Perf-Counter

It has been a while since i last read anything about WORM (Storage Lock) in Commvault and wanted to make sure I`m not misunderstanding or missing anything. My general understanding is that once WORM Storage Lock is configured and retention criteria is met, DDB is sealed. Once DDB is sealed nothing else is written to that DDB.New DDB is created and as per Arlie confirmation, the next job regardless of what the schedule policy may start (lets say an Incremental) that job gets automatically converted to Full Job so the baseline is estabilished. No issue until here unless Im missing something. The above statement used to be in the documentation (not sure if Im just not finding it or it was rephrased) but I simple cant find.Instead when looking at the documentation for WORM:

After an unexpected upgrade to v11.40 from v11.32 all backups are now very slow. Low throughput and observed 99% DDB lookup. Backups aren’t completing. One Auxiliary copy has a huge 22TB of data that needs to be copied to tape. All these issue appeared after the upgrade

Hallo,  I trying to make icinga2  .ps1 script to check the commvault backup status of a client. If i want to install CLI on non commserver which package from repostory do i need to install?   

I want to restore database to point in time in the past.I see in comm console there are available old backups. I am giving the following command and it errors. We are currently using Commvault v10, and we have data stored on tape that we need to restore directly to a Synology NAS Unit system, which is mapped to the media server. This is necessary because there isn't enough space on the media server itself. However, when I select the media agent for the restore destination, the network locations are not showing up. Additionally, since it's a NAS unit, we are unable to install the Commvault agent on it.

hi,For any of you still using tape on Linux MA’s, I was wondering if there’s a way to force the Expert Storage Configuration to use the alias (friendly names) created by udev rules for those devices and the changer?Setting up udev rules isn’t that hard and I know RH says that WWNN’s used “by-id” are automagic, but the names are never human intuitive. Plus we’ve seen some issues whereby rebooting the MA is a crapshoot that means sometimes the drives all work and mount media fine, and sometimes it’s no dice. I could never see the changes noted in the events and so created udev rules to try and keep things consistent, but the field can’t be edited in expert storage config under any circumstances, it just finds the ../scsi-blah devices and not any of the aliases.

Hello, i want you to ask what is your feeling or experience with Commserve on Linux ? We run at the moment a lot of tests with Commserve on Linux and we think it is a very good solution but i want to know what you thinking about !  so may you can tell me your experience and feeling about this new feature! Cheers 

The Security Assessment > Platform security page identifies a critical issue with the “File Activity Anomaly alert” not being enabled. Unfortunately, when I go into the Java GUI Console > Alerts > Configure Alerts, “File Activity Anomaly alert” doesn’t appear as one of the options.  I’ve searched the documentation but don’t see any steps on how to load this alert. Does anyone know how to load a missing alert? (The File Activity Anomaly alert specifically.)Thanks in advance for any help.Ken

Hi Commvault Community,I’m searching for a precise method to export all job IDs that “live” in every Disk / Cloud Library in our Commcell environment.From a previous case, Commvault support mentioned that the recommended way is by querying the Deduplication Policy DDB (from the CommCell Console, under Storage Resources > Deduplication Engines, then view Jobs).Question:Is there a command line tool (like qoperation, qlist, or REST API) that can export all job IDs from a DDB (including Files, Databases & VMs Deduplication Stores)?   instead of manually exporting jobs manually from the GUI?The goal is somehow to automate these reports for audits, analytics, or targeted operations (such as clean-up, reporting etc). Please for your feedback.Nikos

Hi Folks,we need to create quite a lot of custom packages (rpm) for linux clients on a regular basis (SAP-Oracle, SAP-Hana, Linux-fs, and so on.)We are currently doing this via ./cvpkgadd and then clicking through a lot of pages until the custom package is finished at the end. is there a way to automate this process via some command line where all necessary options (most of them can be left at the default value) are provided (which packages to include, to which commserve to connect to, ...)?Thanks for any ideas on this :)

Is there a clear process to migrate from an Index Server Cloud to an Index Server?We have a two-node Index Server Cloud for Exchange Mailbox and its associated HAC Cluster that are due for a Hardware Refresh. Given that Index Server Cloud is deprecated we will need to look at migrating in the near term.

When trying to assign any data classification plan with our clients it shows this error??Someone please can help? (PlanID-[Number] is marked incomplete. No entity can be associated to the plan) NB: There is no missing setting related to this plan or any new plan with the same error.

Planning to rebuild 3 web servers which are tiered.  The Metrics reporting is setup to use Tiered Metrics reporting.  Creating a CA-Signed Certificate for the Tomcat Server Is there any way I can avoid re-doing the creation of certs etc. Possibly saving a copy of critical files for tiered metrics reporting and copying it to the newly refresh Metrics reporting/web server Any advice is appreciated

We are currently using Commvault v10 with Dell ML3 tape libraries. Initially, we encountered a media mount error on the library. After replacing the drives, we began receiving the following error intermittently on a few of the tape libraries. Hello,I am trying to recover a backup of a client VSA virtual machine from a secondary copy that was copied to tape approximately 5 years ago.The index version of the VSA client is V1 (I plan to migrate this VSA client to V2 next month. It’s the last client I have left to migrate). The Commvault version is 11.36.24The restoration I am performing is for the entire virtual machine.When attempting to restore, I get the following error message: "The medium is already reserved by some other job. We rarely perform tape recoveries, and what surprised me while researching is that this type of error seems usually appears in multi-stream database recoveries, but there’s no mention of VSA clients.You can see information here:https://kb.commvault.com/article/53924https://documentation.commvault.com/11.20

Hi all,My customer is currently using S3 Glacier Deep Archive with Combined Tier: S3 Standard-Infrequent Access. So far, so good.However, they would like to use S3 Cross Region Replication, which does not replicate data written to the Deep Archive tier. So we are looking for an alternative solution.One alternative solution would be to use S3 Intelligent-Tiering (the Combined Tier is not available then). We believe that would allow the objects to be replicated before they are moved to the Deep Archive Tier.But I am unable to find a clear description on how that actually works with Commvault. Is all data indeed initially written to the “warm” tier? Will it allow the data to be replicated by CRR? Who determines which data can be moved to the Deep Archive Tier? Is that Amazon or Commvault? If it’s Amazon that determines which data can be moved to the Archive Tier, how do we ensure metadata and indexes are kept in

Hi Community,I’m working with Commvault v11.36.68 (on-prem) and need to generate a report—either through the CommCell Console or Command Center—that shows details for a specific storage policy.Specifically, I’d like to export: All schedules running under that storage policy The retention period associated with each schedule The goal is to understand what backups will run in a given week of the month and what their corresponding retention periods will be.I’ve been unable to find a built-in report or option that provides this information.
