Hello dear Commvault community,Can someone help me start the Journal Mailbox Archive job? The job always runs into error 19:801 (see log excerpt below). Unfortunately, I can't do anything with the error. Perhaps someone can explain to me what I have to do?  Best regards,Eugen

i have primary storage pool is in hyperscale x cluster , and looking for best practice to configure secondary copy to cloud , commvault metallic storage ,wehat is the best practise ,  do i need to use different media agent , or can i use any of the hyperscale x node , or what is best approach  is there any other settings to be aware while configuing aux copy

We are planning to implement Commvault with HPE StoreOnce 3660 NAS share, please advise the best Practice for the configuration level. - Is it will enable Deduplication & Compression in hardware level and disable these features in Commvault end. - Is it will run backup of synthetic full (or) full + Incremental.Please share best practice document to implement this solution. 

Friends, We use on our systems Oracle SEHA (Standard Edition High Availability) databases.That means we have 2 servers and the databases run at one server as single databases. If the server goes down, the database fail-over to the other server. It feels like classical cluster-behavior, but it’s without cluster-software on OS level. This means that Commvault will see the database as a standard Oracle database running on node1. Then when there is a failover, Commvault will autodetect this database on node2 as a new database and the one of node1 will have failed jobs.The when the database fails back to node1, the jobs of this database on node2 will keep having failed jobs.So the database backups are spread on 2 clients, while you can see in CV that the DBID is the same. As we have 30 days retention, we can’t just cleanup the remains on node2 as for recovery we need data from both clients. Our Storage Environment is Netapp. We tried to limit the parallels backup copy operations with limited streams, but encountering the same issue. Can someone please share their experience if encountered previously.

Hello Team,Recently we created a configuration with Commvault and StoreOnce Catalytsi discovered about 3 days ago that when i trigger full backups the fail with this error Error Code: [13:244] Description: [Media write operation failure] [HP-StoreOnce media] [Error writing to the media.]There are 3 vms with this error.i did tried to backup one disk at a time as a test and it seemed to work fine, but when it comes to the c: drive backup are failing with this error.just to mention that connectivity is over the net. Has anyone had a problem like this before ? i’ll be helpfull if anyone of you can help. Kind Regrds

Hello Team, In the next year we have plan to switch access for adminsitrators from CommCell Consol to WebConsole. Becuase Commvault decided to not continue new features from JAVA console.And question what is best practise for secure Commserver server when only WebConsole will be avaialble in our infrastrcture, some jumphost from where administrators has access, or dedicated server only for WebConsole services?Maybe push the Commserve Server to DMZi?Current we have Commvault access by jumphost dedicated for a region. Regards, Michal 

Dear Connects,I have question related to Dash copy. I have a DB2 Client, Which writes Log/normal FS Incremental Backups backups for every 2 hours. In this way I will be having 12 Log/FS Backups in my primary Copy per day. I Just wanted to move only last Log/FS backups which happened in the day to my dash copy not all the backups which happened during the day. I could see the options for Full backups, not for Logs or Incremental Backups. Please suggest how to achieve this. Thanks !!

The current commvault infra deployed on single server i.e. All in One(CS+MA). Now i want to change hardware and migrate both on new single hardware with configuration and backup data.

Hi Team,My customer has large oracle DB 100 TB running on AIX power server and attached with Hitachi Storage. The DBs replicating to similar setup with block level replication. They configured the FS backup on replicated server and backing up DB (100 TB) as flat file using AIX FS agent. They restore the entire data to another AIX machine, storage space came from Dell storage on weekly basis.The backup and restore handles by same seventeen-node HSX, the backup is completing by 5+ hours and restore take 25+ hours.Currently we are trying to identify other possibilities to reduce the restoration window. We had an idea to explore IntelliSnap, but I am curious to know is it possible to perform restore snapshot into Dell which was taken from Hitachi?In this scenario, still data needs to travel over the network from source to target storage. Can you suggest if you have any suggestion/input.   

We make CIFS backups from NetApp ONTAP 9.12 to Commvault using intellisnap.When Commvault starts the backup, it first creates a snapshot, then a clone volume on the snapshot, and finally a cifs share.Unfortunately, this way every file is pulled through the virus scanner, which reduces the performance a lot.Is there a way to prevent Commvault from creating the clone volume and the new share?Surely it should be possible to back up the direct path \\svm\volume\SP_2_snapshot? Then no new share would have to be created. The existing shares have a “writes-only” configuration, i.e. data is not scanned for viruses when it is read.After changing the antiviros on Netapp to writes-only the throughput is 4 times higher. Has anyone got a process in place where they’ve been able to update server information held within a ServiceNow table(DB) with information of last backup date and time. Basically looking for a way to ensure all servers they need a Commvault Backup are being backed up. This would include VM and Client Agent Backups. 

we have an old hp library , as part of the hardware refresh we introduced new library exagrid , we are using software deduplication , but the exagrid team recommending on having fresh backup , not to migrate the data from old library as it might affect the hardware deduplication. what is the diffrence between moving the mount path , and creating new stroage pool , creating aux copy and promoting it to primary once the it sync , which option is better if we have like 30tb baseline size ? when we do the aux copy , the secondary copy has any affect on the priamry libarary storage , or deduplication ? 

Planning to move a few clients from one CommCell to another without using CommCell migration method.I don't need the backup history of the clients.  But I need to make sure the subclient configuration, instances defined etc are kept intactThe idea is once they are on the other CommCell we will just need to repoint the clients to specific Storage policies on the new Commcells.Also if its possible to avoid reinstalling the agents on the servers.Is there any scripts/workflow available to do this tasks?

What is the risk of changing the password of the generic Commvault admin account.  We are doing this as a security contingency in our environment. Is there a risk of issues arising doing this?   Let me know of any recommendations/suggestions

Hello Community I hope someone can help?  I need to test a new VPN line our network department have activated to send data from our on prem media agent up to cloud storage for infinite copies.  Unfortunately our month end jobs are not on a schedule and copy data up, as and when it comes in.  Is there a way to copy data (jobs) from one copy to the month end copy then run an aux copy on demand so i can test the routing of this traffic? Any help or guidance would be much appreciated. thanksTonyQ 

Hi all,After installing the MediaAgent Package on some Windows Servers (These just require the component and do not not act as a Data Mover or host a DR Share) I get the once a day 64:1142 Critical Code Event logged:  Administrative share are enabled on the MediaAgent XXX which could lead to potential security exploits, please review and take necessary steps.Having reviewed https://kb.commvault.com/article/72274 this article only really seems concerned with disk libraries and DR Shares that use an Admin share in its path. I have 2 servers that this is being logged in event viewer for, yet they only have the default C$, Admin$ and IPC$.  Should Commvault be flagging the C$ as something that should be removed?  Indeed if I apply a reg key (AutoShareServer = 0) the alert is suppressed, but this also removes the Admin$ S

Hi CV team,For a backup size on a file server around 60TB of data what is the best strategy from Commvault backup that will have a good RPO and RTO?Kindly consider which data protection type or a combination of them will help to attain the good RPO and RTO as the primary requirements.  

Is there a way, additional setting or something like that, that could limit the number of jobs a backup copy workflow submits at one time? Running IntelliSnap on NetApp and when all of the copies kick off at once things get overloaded. Just wondering if there is a way to limit it. I know you can when you submit it manually, but the automated ones run max number of jobs.
